  1. I didn't make the call........tough to dial when your shaking.
  2. For those clicking back and for between the two pics just focus on the G2's.............. As noted above...... "END OF STORY"
  3. I'm honestly not sure what happened as it was to my left about 25-30 feet and the mini van next to me was closer to the line and blocked my view. I believe the car that almost got me was going north on Rt 93 and the other car might have run the light to go straight or left but I can't no for sure. I think I'll have a stiff Manhattan now to settle my nerves..........
  4. A very scary accident happened at 3:00 today and I was within 4' of a car that had just T-Boned another at the intersection of Rt 31 and Rt 93, right in front of Carson's. I was driving my p/u and my boss was with me, I had just stopped at the red light and was in the rightmost lane of the two. (I don't recall now if there is a dedicated left turn lane there??) From the picture of my truck you can see that I stopped far short of the white line as I usually do for some reason. The vehicle to my left, also waiting to go straight was up on the line. Bob (my boss) saw more than I did as the accident was somewhere to the left of me and out of my sight. Bob saw a little more of it but what we both saw was the black or blue car that hit the gal in the beige-ish car (seen in pics) go shooting across the front of my truck 4' from my front end at an extremely high rate of speed. The sound of the crash was horrific and it was the first thing we heard or saw. Then parts flew everywhere and the car came right by us and both Bob and I threw our arms up in the air to brace ourselves for the collision that missed by mere feet...................... I jammed the transmission in park and we jumped out, shaking like a tree in a hurricane! Bob went to the second car which had traveled all the way to the far end of the property where Carson's driveway is, maybe 100 yards? The driver was probably unconscious from a blow to the head that was bleeding when he exited the passenger door about 30 seconds after the wreck. He was acting a bit stunned and wanted to go punch whoever just pulled out in front of him. Bob talked him out of that.................... The other driver (car pictured here) was shook up but appeared unhurt! The miracle of airbags in both cars had to save lots of pain, sorrow and maybe death today. You can see the car tracks right next to the front of my truck. If I'd have pulled up to the line, Bob and I might have been in the hospital right now. Scary stuff.
  5. Some of us were talking about the lack of wooly recently in a PM. We heard from an unidentified source that he was indeed fighting gremlins in his 'puter. Looking forward to his resurfacing...............................
  6. I had a 1.5 year old spiker come untied from the meat pole and fell straight down, he THEN had a Roman nose. Poor bugger..................
  7. The licking branch over a scrape that the bucks have been using for ten years is now dead and the scrape is (as of last Saturday) is untouched. Has it been abandoned? I'm thinking so.................................
  8. 100% impossible to guess unless you want a range. 2.5-10.5
  9. Chinese named friend of mine: "WhoflungPoo", good guy from down the street.................I don't think he'd appreciate your humor.
  10. You wouldn't want to bet on that figuring.......you'd be mighty surprised.

    Don't blink

Pretty good looking spot you have there.
  12. I'm no Indian, I hunt from a tree. I was givin an Indian name when I was in my 20's though: Shooting Bull.
  13. Tim who? I think he has vanished from this place......................and as far as I know he hasn't been hunting yet?? Prolly be selling his gear soon.
  14. A big E for effort, good job regardless of the outcome.
  15. The cables go UP. You can adjust the seat portion of the climber in the stand but NOT the stand section and you'd rather have it tipped UP than dipped down, trust me. When you start your climb, the lower (stand) section is usually at a pretty severe angle as the difference in the diameter of the tree is certainly going to lessen considerably as you ascend. Each tree is different of course and you'll have to work that out by experience. Can't help with the "third hand"......WTH is it? 4" per bite is something that will come in experience too, less IS more in the beginning! DON'T take too big of a bite by stretching your legs and reaching too far, THAT is when accidents happen.
  16. It's an art and worth learning........... As a young boy I spent many hours TRYING to get an edge on a bunch of knives that somehow I talked family & friends out of. I'd sharpen fish hooks, hunting knives, broadheads, axes, hatchets etc for fun. I got very good at it but always longed for a better method. The Spyderco Sharpmaker isn't the be all, end all because like I mentioned, if you really monkey up your edge you are SOL unless you have the tools and smarts to get it back. I tried Lansky and Gatco and couldn't stand either one. I have DMT, Smith's, Spyderco and others to use but rely on the Spyderco mostly. I'd like to try a Norton Crystalon stone at some point, saw them mentioned on Phil Wilson's web site. I enjoy using stones like this and want to grab one when I figure out what would be best for my needs. Shawn, ever use these?? Here is a COPY/PASTE from Phil Wilson's web site @ Seamount Knives............................................. SHARPENING This is tough to do right with out a lot of practice. I have been frustrated many times in the past trying to get that final shaving edge by making one last stroke on the stone only to lose it all and have to start all over again. I was determined to figure out a method for fool proof sharpening. It starts with the blade itself. As mentioned above if you take a close look at most knives you will find a very thick edge section. It is strong but very hard to sharpen. The ideal edge angle of fifteen to twenty degrees can only be obtained by removing a large amount of material. This is hard work takes time and is almost impossible to do with any precision. A blade steel with good toughness can be ground relatively thin and still be durable. A thin tough edge is only half the solution. The other half is the sharpening stone. In my experience the best sharpening media is Silicon Carbide. Norton’s name for this is “Crystalon”. This sharpening stone is available from them in different configurations with the Crystalon/India combination stone the most popular. Silicon Carbide is the grey side of the stone and works best for initial edge forming. Silicon carbide is harder than the carbides found in the high performance tool steels referenced above so the stone cuts clean and leaves a nice aggressive edge. Final second stage polishing for a surgical type edge can be done with the India side (reddish brown, water stones or with a Silicon Carbide dressed leather strop. I guarantee that the combination of the right blade geometry, superior steel, precise heat treating, and a good stone, will eliminate your sharpening frustrations.
  17. Most people NEVER want to go through all the work of checking due to the difficulty so they guess. I don't have one of those cool DEC type "jaw opener" tools so I struggle with each one. Most of the time if it isn't going on the wall I'll take my knife and open the hide wide around the back of the upper & lower jaws, THEN pry like a MoFo to see the goods. Not fun!!
  18. If a fellow just happened to pop into this thread and saw the quoted post we'd probably loose our Internet License.
  19. I'm not looking for any you've seen in the past on camera or anything, just how many you've ever killed that were 5.5 or older.
  20. If I had a dollar for every time I've heard that. Guys will pry like hell on the jaw to get it open and look in and say, "hey, this deer has no teeth except up front!!"
