  1. Let's get a little wager going........I'll say 2.75 zits per squirrel. Who's in?
  2. Damn man....you'd have to have a designated driver and go there half in the bag to enjoy the show! I've heard Lancaster ain't much better these days. Too bad as I have fond memories of the circle tracks.
  3. Nice......... Hopefully he doesn't snap them off rubbing or wrestling with some up and comer..........
  4. Dug up some pics from my first dove hunting foray in 1998. A friend and I loaded up and headed down towards Reading PA looking for dove. We were pretty much shut out in three days of hunting, never really got into them for some reason. Beautiful country and nice landowners but not many dove. We camped a couple nights and spent one night in the No Tell Motel along Rt 15 so all in all it wasn't a bust. On the way home my buddy suggested we stop just south of the NY border in Tioga County near where we had been deer hunting for years and snoop around. I didn't have any hope but figured why not?? We asked a farmer friend if it was OK and he said "a....you wanna hunt WHAT?" He couldn't believe we wanted to hunt them! Of course we could hunt......"have fun guys, whatever......" We hit 'em pretty good, I got ten that afternoon. I don't recall what my buddy got but it was a similar bag. We had my old girl along with us. She did good after she questioned me on WTH are we hunting these things for? IIRC she'd have been 11 years old. Camping......... Can you tell by the smile on my face how much fun this stuff is? We hunted about 13 years straight and sometimes we'd make multiple trips down. My dog started having some issues in 2011 and we haven't gone back since. I miss it greatly but can't justify doing it without a dog for a few reasons the biggest is the fact that it just isn't fair to the dove (makes perfect sense huh?) in that they are darn near impossible to find under some conditions. Mother Nature colored them in the most beautiful subdued colors I've ever seen. Really difficult to spot in some places that seem like it'd be a piece of cake! Jenny is 12 and I don't know if we'll get another after she's gone but one thing I can say it if we pass dove hunting in NYS I guarantee I'll be sporting another lab. GUARANTEED From 2006 I think.......
  5. I had a couple bigger projects (hey, "bigger" is relative to the person!) I wanted to get done. One was rebuilding the doors on my shed and then painting the entire structure. The other was power washing and staining the deck. I'm happy to say both chores are done! A couple days ago I was thinking about another project I'd like to get done but for the life of me I can't remember what it was?!?! I have one more bigger thing but need to talk with my Habitat For Humanity free worker neighbor Tim M on that one. He's a member here and hopefully he's reading this................... How about you guys/gals, how is your list coming?

    Antler Pens

How'd this thread get by me a month ago?? Neat pens Dan...........those take a fair amount of time I bet. Not surprised to see you doing stuff like this!
  7. If I took my GF I'd be divorced and that ain't in the cards.......
  8. I've only checked mine once and that was three weeks ago. Maybe next week end I'll check them again??
  9. Somebody PLEASE post a picture of a 4 year old buck. Then toss in a 3 year old. Bet ya' don't have a picture of a 5 year old........................................... Looking forward to the pics! (JHC the DEC can't tell from the damned jaws half the time)
  10. Hey DT........we did the same thing today but we were at Niagara University. My daughter is a freshman also, pretty big deal huh? I hoofed it up (AND down!) 8 flights of stairs three times today. Took the elevator three times with the 2 wheel dolly also.............man what a workout! We had the Tacoma packed to the gills and had to put a bunch of things in my wives rig to get 'er done. Big dealings for sure!!
  11. They'll look even better with some smeared blood on them laced to a bucks horn with some baler twine. Then they'll be purty; Purty and Punched.
  12. Got mine a few days ago. Lime green paper?
  13. .243 is a barn burner. Ain't no deer walking away from a 80TTSX in the boiler room............. Remember; it's bullets, NOT headstamps.
  14. With great regret much of my daytime is filled with a four letter word these days.....WORK. Hence the fact I miss out on some quality time here. My question is, where'd that thread go that ....rob's g/f started and is ......rob still a dues paying member here??
  15. Cool, you work for the DEC! Are you doing a trap and tag operation? Looking forward to your pics and stats on the cute little cub. Hopefully the little bugger doesn't get hit by a car in the meantime. Maybe in a few years some lucky hunter will get a crack at him/her.
  16. My ISP charges me by the letter..........
  17. Fortunately for us, all inhabitants were deceased. The window is 23" wide, the hive was at least 10-12" deep..........the crew installing the windows MIGHT have been slowed down if the bees were still kicking but probably not much as they are a pretty tough bunch. (I'd have needed the rest of the day off!!) The window in question was a 117" wide 5 light bow.

    Elmo

Ah ha, I missed this HB Greeting!
  19. Hey Elmo, Happy Birthday!!
  20. Simply Rugged Chesty Puller. Google it............
  21. That's a bummer with a good outcome! One of my cameras recently had a huge spider condo set up located between the tree and the camera housing. I got some weird pics when he/she was on the camera lens and something triggered the sensor.........if it ain't squirrels, chipmunks, birds or tall weeds it'll be ants and spiders!
  22. Christmas is coming guys, if you don't get NYON now, maybe be real sweet to Mrs. Claus and she'll stuff a subscription in your stocking. Easily the most for the least when it comes to NYS hunting, shooting & fishing, IMO...........
