Mother Nature is a cruel, cruel gal. She taketh and giveth, tough deal for us sometimes!

What's the scoop on the gun? Your build or did you buy it that way? Bullets for the furbearers?

Or put a cap into your ass.................... Scary stuff out there. I was on the 290 tonight on the way home from work, around 5:30pm. Big back up in the east bound section between Sheridan and Main St. Traffic is stopped..... Here comes a chick packin' the mail on the shoulder (rumble strips all the way) and she had at least a mile to go before the exit. I REALLY wanted to just mooch over onto the shoulder and put an end to her BS but thought the best of it. These days a stunt like that on my part could result in a visit from the fuzz, yankin' my blued and stainless steel hardware right before my eyes.

Mountain View in Atlanta for chicken & biscuits. Sunday's only.................

I saw the key deer back in the 90's while visiting Key West. Pretty cool little deer! I never saw a buck, just a few doe in a supermarket parking lot.

Heck if I know what it is but am looking forward to more pics from your hiding place.

My buddy opened the safe door (packed to the gills) and before he could catch it his VERY first shotgun he ever owned (an ancient Ithaca Model 37 12ga, scoped) fell out of the safe. This might not sound to catastrophic but the gun was stored barrel down to accommodate a few extra guns in the overcrowded safe. Well, when it hit the concrete basement floor it snapped the stock at the wrist and clunked on the scope too. I don't recall exactly what he did but it was repaired/replaced as it has been back in service for a few years since the mishap. This is the same guy who, about 15 years ago slipped while hunting tahr and chamois in NZ and snapped the wrist on his awesome old Mannlicher-Schoenauer DST 30-06. If you spend enough time around these things, things are going to happen! Usually bad........

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh CRAP! I have had that exact thought running in my head many times. I could JUST see that happening......................&*%$@# Dude I feel your pain on that one........BUT.....it does remind me of a short story!

Why the camo, B? If you really want to, rattle can it. It'll be a nice weekend project for you and your kids. These days, you couldn't give me a camo gun........(just one mans "worth what you paid for it" opinion)

Man you guys are a bunch of screw ups. Thanks for all the funny but safe (for the most part) replies. A few more are coming to mind for me but it'll take a while to compose them properly so that I don't look like too much of a boob.

I appreciate the serious stories but would rather have some "lighter" screw ups like mine. I had a beautiful Ithaca Model 37 20ga in a gun case stashed in the back of my pickup on a dove hunt one time. It was a backup gun and didn't get used. What it did get was wet! A 5gal water jug leaked a gallon or two and I didn't know it. One side of the gun case got soaked and one side of the gun did too. I didn't realize it until we got home a few days later and the rust was heavy. Pretty much destroyed the guns value, looks and panache. Bummer........

Thanks for adding that one Wooly, I'm sure it wasn't easy to do. Tough deal but like you said, hopefully good has come out of your admission.

What's the worst gun handling mishap you've had? The other day I was handling a Browning BPS in EXCELLENT shape while in my basement. I wanted to wipe it down with some Hoppe's real quick and somehow dropped it on a mostly carpeted area of the floor. G&%D#^@^$*^&+%!@* I couldn't believe it! It was not really damaged but it sure as heck could have been a disaster if it was anyone of my other guns, scoped or not! I know I've had other guns fall over in the woods, get a hard rap or two etc. but for the most part never really did any major damage that I recall. I always worry about dropping one out of the treestand but it hasn't happened yet, thankfully. How about you guys & gals, anything you want to admit to?

OK, good reason.

For 12 years or so the USPS has been delivering my license packet to me. You guys should save up and buy a lifetime license...................

The point of this thread is not related to cover from downed trees but whether or not it is baiting when hunting near them.
-
The late season isn't late enough for the deer to be looking for downed tree buffets. They just ain't hungry enough to count on them for a food source, IMO.

What's with the Bud Light Lime beer, I thought you said there were no chicks going? Just bustin' nads..........don't get all wadded up. Looks like a great time. Probably a tad on the cool side at night? Awesome!!

Growie is pretty knowledgeable at this stuff. Send her a PM if she doesn't chime in....... -
Pop out the two pins on the side of the receiver then pull the trigger group down & out. That could/should help you see what's messed up, be it in the slide or action. Report back with results............good luck!
