I'm not sure I buy that. I don't really care to argue with you over it, but there has to be a little bit of genetics that come in to play.

on unscouted or public land, they're great for finding your way back to the downed deer if you've made a trip to get the cart. but i always try and tuck them back inside the cavity. they do fall out sometimes. What I don't like seeing though is when they're in the middle of a gut out. heck i dont even like gut outs. I kick leaves and sticks on them.

I'd be lying if I said I never got out of the woods and didn't crush a cold one from the cooler in the truck. So, I'm sure I'm not alone. But never in a million years have I not put the can back in the cooler. 1 beer is not evidence of anything. Just people being the a55sholes they are in my opinion.

Chevy truck owners I have a problem question
Five Seasons replied to First-light's topic in General Chit Chat
sounds like you did everything i would have done. one time i tried to correct a cylinder misfire in another car with coil packs i got cheap from rock auto. $300 later after the problem didn't go away it was determined they were just shitty new coils too. Sometimes compression issues are solved by a good fuel system treatment... but that's not likely. At the same time, buying a bottle of good $7 fuel system cleaner isn't a bad idea anyhow. -
and if drones are still legal not in season, who's to say you're not just taking pictures of nature? for that matter why can't i fly my drone in season and take pics of nature?

Mississippi is disgusting for this. So much worse than what I've seen in NY. Most I do believe are not people actively hunting but those driving around the dirt roads or after they get out.
-
sounds like a few wasp and hornet chainsaw encounters i've had. Had a snake dropped out of the branch i'd bet you would have jumped for sure though
-
Spiders don't bother me. They are generally there and dont just pop out. That said moving to south has given me a new appreciation for snakes and spiders as quite a few in the swamps around here can kill you.
-
what gets me about snakes is not the venom, it's that they just freakin appear and scare the crap out of me.

Best thing for Mosquitos hands down is a thermacell.

I just don't your thinking sometimes. You sound a lot like my dad who is retired and all about hunting. Maybe that's the difference. I'm super passionate about hunting. But with 2 young boys I don't live and die by it. Some of you act like every little change will bring about the end of hunting. There are less gun hunters today then there were 10 years ago yes. But there are more bow hunters, more woman hunters. Hunting is not a publicly traded company. Sales don't have to grow. A slight dip here and there isn't going to lead us into bankruptcy. Especially with an already crowded state. We need more access. More counties and parks need to implement special archery permits to hunt in the burbs. We have that system here in oxford. You pass an archery skills and written test. You're assigned an area and have to harvest 2 doe before you shoot horns. All in basically someone's back yard. We can certainly discuss the pros and cons of this proposal, but let's just stop with the doom and gloom already.
-
NY had one of the highest hunters per square mile ratios in the country. Stop with the doom and gloom. As someone already monetized, the problem is that the deer aren't stupid and a lot less land is huntable and they multiply in these sanctuaries.
-
I like it. Remember it's only certain parts of the state. It doesn't appear to affect the low doe areas. There's too many doe in my town, that I know.
-
it is? does it mean something?

I use the liquid. On everything. Socks and boots too. Been working great for years Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

everything you just said doesn't make you any less of an outdoorsman in my opinion. A good hike is healthy for most folks. Climbing a steep ridge with pre-existing medical conditions is exactly the reason people should be using ATVs.

How About an Official 2015 Gardening Thread?y
Five Seasons replied to wildcat junkie's topic in General Chit Chat
We had quite the system at my old house from the previous owners, i have pictures somewhere but essentially it was 4 6'x12' beds with drip irrigation from a rain barrel. this year we just did something simple down here. Growing season starts earlier and things are coming along nice. this is from last week. -
to a point yes. if you go straight from couch to quad to sitting in a chair I'd wonder and question if you're just a hunter who enjoys hunting, or if you truly enjoy spending time with nature... hiking, exploring etc. again assuming you're able bodied. Driving up to a field and hiking in, or dragging a deer out with a quad do not disqualify you in my book. And of course, who freaking cares about my book right? Just chewing the fat and discussing.
-
maybe i missed it, but I don't think anyone is criticizing the old or disabled for using them. Personally I don't really care too much if the able bodied guy drives his right up to his ladder stand 30 minutes after legal light. If that's how you hunt, then have at it. It's just not for me. But believe it, if I broke my leg or became ill I'd have a quad. When it comes to the term "outdoorsman". I think that's where you start to lose some. There is a "hunter", this can be anybody in the woods with a weapon. And there is an "outdoorsman". The later in my opinion is still a hunter, but one who is a little more intune with the experience and nature part of hunting and not just the harvest. It's all subjective and there is no right answer. But I will put my opinion out there, because that's what I do. The "pumpkin" who leaves his beer cans behind, who baits, who breaks the rules, who just cuts off the horns... is not an outdoorsman. They're still a hunter sure. But not an outdoorsman. I don't believe you have to be a Native american hunting in a loin cloth and spear to be an outdoorsman, but a good ethical hunter who enjoys and values his time in the woods is what i label "an outdoorsman".

The Economic Cost Of Govt Regulation
Five Seasons replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
the banks did real well without regulation -
a little bit of intelligence would have been if this guy called the cops, failed a suit, animal control or any number of documented legal avenues. Then one day when he does pull the trigger, all the history of negligent pet ownership is there in paper and he probably doesn't lose his guns. What's so unintelligent about trying a nonviolent approach first? The reporters would have access to all this and he could have told his story. And the fact that it hasn't come out tells me he never took the first few steps in the process and went straight to flying off the handle.
-
For shooting dogs! Geez you guys are a trip. Total lawlessness or nothing right vjp?
-
Thanks for the advice guys. I guess it's worth a shot
-
Do we really want the guy who is shooting pets to keep his guns? this is what blows my mind. It's a privilege to own a gun. Prove you can't do it safely and you shouldn't have them. That simple. Those who do irresponsible things with their guns make all of us look bad and impact all of us.
