Opinion on Shotgun for DEER/TURKEY/WATERFOWL
Doewhacker replied to Rev Ev's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have a shorter (24inch) slug barrel with a screw in choke for my 870 as does my brother for his 11-87. That truely is all you need but I do not know if they still make them like that, Do you know WNY? I also have the 30inch bird barrel it came with but I dont use that as I don't duck hunt and it is god awefull heavy and slow swinging with it on. We kill all kinds of stuff from Turkeys to deer and birds, all you have to do switch the choke and off you go. -
I gave you some ideas in the other thread, the which would you prefer one but I will repeat it here for you. Create a buck permit system like the current doe permit one, limiting buck take in the over hunted areas. That way it is actually controlled and not a free for all. AR supporters might not like that though for that might mean they can't take that sought after trophy of theirs. Mean while I could go about my merry way shooting doe's.

LOL turning into a new breed of deer, damned pygmy deer!
-
. Mathematicaly speaking, one buck a year is chump change when spread acrossed the whole state, imo. As far as guys using others tags, thats illegal, imposible to track and also does not matter in this choose a or b thread. Im sure it is an important issue to some but as long as it is tagged and reported the DEC cannot do much about it unless the accused are turned in or caught red handed. Actually there is a guy on here that admitted to this illegal activity, and he supports state wide AR's..hmmm I guess we can't count his vote.
-
How about instead of doe permits we start a buck permit system. That way DEC can set how many Bucks it wants taken per wmu and all of the AR guys can stop bitching about all of the bucks being killed. Reportedly only 5% of hunters take two bucks a year, do you think it will make an impact if we limit it to one per year? Personaly I don't care, one buck or no buck, does not matter to me.
-
Why wouldn't you be able too? I lived there for a year and the locals would hunt all over. That is where I had deer literaly on my front porch, feeding on some bushes. In my opinion that was the best town house I ever had!

Hey look its the picture Sam put on here, funny how those pictures spread acrossed the state.

Yes Wooly that is what gets the up in the morning to hunt, a 15 inch wide 8 point, because it has 8 points it is a monster. Really though, there has been a small increase in 3.5 yr old buck take but a large increase in 2.5's in the AR zones. AR's do not have much of an affect on getting deer to that sought after "mature" age. What he said, I'm out of this one. I will leave the rest of you to made up stats and hearsay.

Anyone ever try/use the Square Up Torque Indicator
Doewhacker replied to Deerthug's topic in Bow Hunting
As long as you are making the most out of the practice you do get in you are good. The first arrow is often the only one that matters. Now what I do is think of it like a workout, I'm not real concerned with being super accurate the first few times in front of the target. There is plenty of time to fine tune at the end of the year before season. I shoot until I get tired, then shoot some more to build up the muscle's. I do that three times a week at the begining and every night by the end of the practice season. I shoot for over an hour by the end, sending thousands of arrows down range by the end of the summer. I also only shoot three at a time, this gets me walking back and forth and it gives my arms a rest. After a couple of months you will get to know when you make a mistake in form before the arrow even gets there. What is causing you to go off center after a few is you droping your bow arm, this is the most common flaw in any one's form. That and punching the trigger like you are mad at it..lol Archery is the simplest in theory and hardest to achieve constant consistency. (If that made sense ) -
Woooohoooooooo!!!!

So you are not a true hunter if something pisses you off enough to make you stop handing over your hard earned money for something you don't agree with? hmmm I guess you fellas figured out every thing, I didn't know you conducted surveys and can read minds.

Yawn.. another AR thread. Nothing new here guys, some of the 1.5s are going to make it only to get hammered at 2.5..whoppie. Hey ain't there already a FEW other threads on this topic?

I think he is talking about the new proposed areas?

That and see if it is at all possible to install a different grip on your bow, some bows you can change it out and go for one that works better for you. -

To me any way, its not really important to have a level at close ranges. It helped me alot at the longer distances and even then once you can mantain consistent form its not truely needed. You want to talk about distraction, try making the bubble in a level move when its frozen on a cold day. I had to laugh when that happened on a cold day this year, I had the bow side ways trying to level myself up before I realized what happened. lol -
I can't find any sort of info that points toward regulation, so I think it might be that easy. There are regulations determining what live stock is and so on but nothing I can see that lays out a set of basic food safety rules for Deer procesing.

Yes exactly, the nipple on mine gets all kinds of crud on it after a few shots.
-
Just think there is a whole generation of hunters that will never know what a patch is.

Awe come on Burt, he's like a wind up toy that runs around hitting itself in the head.

I'm sorry are you still posting here? I thought you left already?

Looks like it acomplishes the same goal as a level. I wouldn't buy it but don't let that stop you. Hand torque results from poor form, not saying you have poor form but at random times in the year I find myself wondering what happened to mine. It is almost 100% in my grip of the bow, if you can get that consistent you are golden and don't need stuff like this. Although I will say I like the idea of the IQ sight and products like this one, just not the $200 price tag of the IQ. -
Makes sense to me, my barrel seems to foul after about 4-5 shots with goex. Maybe if I tried that I could get an extra shot in?

Technicaly speaking 41 is the magic number for holding food, stuff grows in temps of 41-140.

Oh man, that was the capper, nicely done. ha!
