  1. no no he is real but his bank account is going to be getting low soon and he needs donations. If you want you can send to me and I will hand deliver them. Why do they charge so damn much for the stuff anyway, maybe to help pay the lawyer bills? My wife found this really nice fleece lady's jacket last week at Kittery Trading post, I was all for it untill I saw it was $180..
  2. Thats a great idea, I moved back to 50 this year with my new bow and it helps alot at 20, 30, and 40. I am ready for the year, my season opens here in the northern zone at the end of the month.
  3. They are building a Dino BBQ here over in Troy, my brother is on the construction crew for it. They are set to open this fall I think. Any of you out there remember when they had to shut down a few years ago due to a food borne illness outbreak?
  4. You just gotta take the good with the bad, I have seen/heard on tv some vocalizations from deer that I would never have thought they would make. But for the most part they are rubbish to watch.
  5. I know a guy that calls those traps... "easy shot traps" haha They do have alot of teeth eh?
  6. I don't think they will go out of business but who knows. Hunters beleive in that stuff like kids beleive in Santa. Even if you tell some people some thing will not work they will still think it does and it doesn't matter what the product is.
  7. LOL!!! I get it, you need to maximize your time off!
  8. Thats how I hunt too nyslowhand, I hunt every minute I can. If you look at your thread, the dates that alot of bucks are killed coincide with the seeking/chasing phase of the rut.
  9. Here read this, its by buckstopshere.. http://www.wellsvilledaily.com/outdoors/x190607679/Rut-prediction-for-2010-deer-season-in-the-Northeast-and-Midwest This year is supposed to be a "normal" year. another link... http://www.prohuntersjournal.com/article/?a=27 Basically from 10/31 to 11/12 is the window to look at.
  10. People turning left in front of bikers is the number one cause of accidents and death, for bikers it is a constant threat. I came very close on a few occasions, just one of the reasons I gave up my ride. The number one excuse you hear from car drivers involved is not seeing the biker, which translates to not paying attention if you ask me. I bet your freind loved riding, so at least you can say he died doing some thing he loved. whew, I got chills thinking about the close calls I have had and how lucky I am to not have been in any accidents.
  11. Saturday 10/16 is southern bow opener, and they start the second chance DMP's November 1st.
  12. Damn, thats terrible. It won't be long, the fall air will cure your soul.
  13. I guess it would depend on if it were a hard or rain or just a drizzle. A hard rain is out for me due to the fact that rain washes away blood making it impossible to track a wounded deer. A light rain is another story, it makes it nice a quiet for still hunting, as does wind and snow.
  14. Its funny when you ask any one a question about equipment you will get 10000 different answer and every one of them will sear by it. I guess it all works but I sure wouldn't want to change my current set up for some thing with one pin. I don't think I could wrap my head around the idea of not having fixed pins.. You ever seen those one pin sights that you have to adjust as the deer is coming, that is absolutely strange to me! But they work.
  15. Maybe ole nuge should have pooed in his pants for three weeks before court to get the charges dropped like when he did to avoid getting drafted? Yea he is a real stand up guy....oh and a victim too. ha!
  16. 70#'s for me, shot what you want. It doesnt matter as long as you have a proper arrow selected.
  17. They are not my cup of tea, more moving parts means more chance of something failing in the feild. I like the sights with extra fiberoptices wrapped around. IMO that helps gather more light which is allways good in a hunting situation. I also like the smaller diameter pins, .019 is what I have, it helps to bring your groups in tighter, especially at a longer range. Other than that I would look at anything that has metal construction, plastic parts slide around to much for my taste.
  18. I ment when there is no holding tank, like with pop ups and those outside shower set ups. The water must just go on the ground then, maybe its one of them laws they over look. I never gave it much thought till now.
  19. buckstopshere..very well said.. you are on a roll tonight sir. Larry, yes I did and a few others here so far, I though it was a good read and nice to a perspective out side of our own vacuum.
  20. What do you have to do when camping remote? I never thought of not being able to get rid of grey water...
  21. Thanks Doc, it seems they are as spread out as us hunters. I guess like you allways say, its better to join something than nothing..by that I mean its better if we hunters join a group.. NRA, NYbow or what ever other group we see as helping the sport. I already do that.
  22. Ok, where do I find out what the anti's are up to. I want to know what we as hunters need to worry about. So far I keep reading that we need to watch out for anti's or we are going to loose hunting, but what are they up to in NY? And Doc, I agree with you about the lack of orgnization of hunters, it seems to be a laughing matter some times for some of us.
  23. haha thats funny. I remember when my dad first got his, he has had poor hearing since birth, he would stop look around all crazy and say "whats that?" Just a cricket dad...
