  1. I need the address of that freezer so I can inspect it. For safety sake.
  2. Ain’t happening. The trees will only produce so much, syrup is not a profitable business for the most part. I read recently that a guy ran 300 taps and produced about 100 gallons of syrup and made about $4000. He then put most of that back into equipment ect and that “profit” didn’t include his time spent throughout the year working on the equipment, trees and selling product. So for that reason I’ll stick to letting sap freeze and taking the ice out of the bucket before cooking as I hear the ice has little sugar in it. Free RO system if it’s true.
  3. Well golly gee we live in a state that makes decisions through legislation and not science or even letting those that have the science to even have an impact on passing laws (DEC). Yea politicians always know what’s best on any subject. (Eye roll)
  4. I like splitting by hand when it’s frozen solid. Makes it much more fun and I feel like a lumber jack instead of a pudgy fella.
  5. My first year I split the better part of 12 cord by hand and I had lots of Locust. And that’s why I own a splitter now. Lol.
  6. But then I would have to spend money and that ain’t happening, it’s not a gun that I “need”. Hahahaha
  7. Yup, I get loads that are 5-6 cord of log and spend most of the spring and summer sawing and splitting with the splitter. Once in a blue moon the wife and kids will help even. I’m far enough ahead I’m going to skip this year. I get the wood for $500 a load, which is 100-150 cheaper per cord. The only thing I don’t like is dealing with giant logs, next time I will ask the guy not to give me anything over say 18 inches across.
  8. I’m only slightly above average (4-5 cord) and that’s because I have been home more. I buy log length to cut and split and try to stay two years ahead. It is sooooo nice to burn well seasoned wood. Ill tally it all up when the snow melts.
  9. Having a good year here too though I actually scaled back, cooked down at 30-1 Tuesday and have more to cook tomorrow. My first run was the usual poor ratio, 68-1 and darker. The second was perfectly colored and higher sugar content, boy did it run last week.
  10. Nerds ruin everything, not at all worth it unless you plan on producing a lot and selling it. The fun of it for me is collecting and cooking outside, keep it simple.
  11. I’m in the 16-22. I don’t mind too much but it does make cooking down sap impossible for me. Looks like I’m not cooking till Friday.
  12. Awesome! Check out trigger spring mods, easy, free and well worth it in my opinion. Also I am certain there is one or three of us that can set you up with hand loads or recipies to start with if you want them.
  13. Thats west and north of me but they got the same as we did and as Rac mentioned. It packed down fast and is melting as expected. A few more inches are expected this week too.
  14. He said no to adding national reciprocity in the meeting referenced. He killed it before it even was suggested. He is officially against us all.
  15. I was recently talking to a person in the mental health field and they told me that the number of younger folks that sought treatment has risen dramatically with the emergence of smart phones and constant connections to social media ect. So at least from this professional I spoke to, you guys are right on in that theory.
  16. 50 60 70 80 Years ago before we had any background checks or gun control and guns were every place more then now we did not have school shootings most high schools had rifle teams . Indoor ranges even . There are more guns in homes in the US than ever before. Also, this Cruz was on the high school rifle team.
  17. It’s not strictly a GPS, it’s an e collar and some folks put them there and give a nic if the dog breaks during training on birds. The theory is the dog won’t associate the collar the same if it is there instead of the neck. I dont use that method but plenty of folks do.
  18. A well breed versatile gun dog will do it all, if you know how to train it (or pay some one else to train it) that is. Do you have enough land to let a dog run daily for excercise and training? Do you have time to commit to developing a dog? With out that don’t bother and get a Lab.
  19. The NRA is too concerned with fear mongering to make money. I suspect the bill board that went up saying “kill the NRA” was done for them and even if wasn’t they benefit from it in the form of folks re joining. I suspect their power over politicians will fad for a while.
  20. Hell of a conspiracy in that one. Surprised it took this long to cook that up. You’re slacking.
  21. I’m confused, why did you paint a sex toy? Looks like something from Fifty shades of nasty.
  22. Tracks melted out and big fisher leave big tracks. Now way in the world it is a coyote.
  23. Yea all of 400 Moose compared to 60,000 in Maine. That’s a dillusional pipe dream.
