    Tree Stands

The LW and sticks setup is the ticket for mobile...makes climbers obsolete imo......for those of you with ground of your own...try the millenium setup when the ladder stands burn out,,,wish i could pawn off my ladders but it is too much work to tear em down. When is the best sit in a satnd? the first time! mobile is where it is at
  2. Should be a no brainer of an answer; When the conditions are right. RIght wind for entry/exit/stand..right deer movement...cnat forecast the time of the year.....hunting the chase phase of the rut is easy to see deer but rather hard to kill a mature buck.... but i guess thta all goes back to what youre after....
  3. Nice pics. Keep us posted- especially with the kill pics buddy
  4. 130 give or take 3" ...velvet is hard on judging
  5. I think if the 500 was acually enforced they would never go to 1000 fearing too many citations issued....
  6. I guess I am fortunate enough to make all of the part of my managment gameplan....have dabled with it since 99 and bumped it up significantly in 05 and then again in 09...it meets all of my needs and desires..... self control and hard work do wonders for good experience imo. The vast majority of NYers, including some that preach a different tune, understand QDM or TDM....let laone deer in general. Just my $0.02 though
  7. Awesome deer, and principal. It works well...and that is all NYS big bucks lack- age. I wouldve guessed the big 10 to be 5.5yo due to back line, gut position and the short front leg look....the 150" rack helps. Just my two thoughts though. Awesome deer and job with your approach
  8. Maturity is about age- 3.5 years or older. Does about meat. Bucks about moments/challenge. Deer hunting about experience.
  9. Anything you pour out something ingestable that attracts deer is illegal in NY (at any time of year).....whether you agree wiith it or not...just tacky when others have pic after pic of bucks at salt blocks/etc.....
  10. Let your hunting style dictate what kind of stand you buy. I will add- think about the kind of trees you hunt because climbers never were worth owning for me. As for LW- they seem to be an expensive name until you read about them and try one....then it is a no brainer.
  11. Are you baiting us with saracsm Rob?
  12. Glad youre a legal guy. Were you admittly against them in PA too? How have they impacted your hunting enjoyment there? It seems that those hunting here for a while are those who oppose all things change.....where the few new comers we have are in favor; ever consider letting someone-else have a turn with a new wish list? Not trying to be rude (honestly)..and I am a mid thirties proud father/husband of two that works hard at work and home...not a punk kid or know it all by any means. I have spent a lot of time learning and hunting deer (an dupland) but am all about the experience- not the kill...i shoot my limit of does yearly and have tagged 2 bucks in the past years....my only regret in my hunting career is blasting all the little ones when i first got into the sport. Through some good education I started seeing older deer...and then it all changed....just my thought train thats all
  13. I have seen a 2.5 yo punk buck run ever other deer out of an area..mature bucks are ornary..they want to be left alone....some are fighters, some loverr and others just introverts....the most dominant (not oldest or biggest) will keep the core areas and best food sources
  14. so why obide by seasons- they probably taste even better in the summer? WHy follow slot limits since you had to pay for a license? As for time- thats called prioritization my friend....we all have issues there. Liek the guys who are on these threads crying of starvation so they need to hunt rather than be at work or the grocery store...lol
  15. Because many dont care how big a deer's antlers are. will change that to Many dont care about anything beyond the thrill of a kill or two. Not just big bucks being left out...herd health and numbers matter too. Redundantly- the state even urges young bucks being past and folks cant do it..... it is all about their urge to shoot something
  16. All depends on cover- but the most dominant buck of the group will keep the most consistent pattern
  17. simplest in a feasible manner- the best way would be educate hunters.... Whitetail deer numbers typically follow soil fertility...and the NZ is so lacking there... i am speaking for what I know (which is a novel premise on here)

    Region 8 permits

    thinking the G in 8G stands for get'emall! >
  19. just switched up from Rocks load 67.5gr rl7 black cr barnes 300 original cci primer - rock n roll had an 8" at 330 with that load he was using off a plastic cleaning rest a few years back- have practiced and killed everywhere from 6 yds to 350. best gun out there stay away from 250 ssts- paper wonders deer blunders
  20. if you own a bunch of ground buuy a millenium m100 and a pile of brackets- if not buy a lw alpha and 4 sticks.....everythingelse has become obsolete unless an old fixture (which is poor hunting imo)
  21. So nice to see all these great pics without bait..... another site has nothing but baited ones from NY- blah. Really seen a shift here and like it a lot
