It is so irritating to see flagrant law breaking over and over on here....corn, salt, etc.....lets keep it to legal means guys/girls

I think this thread is the epitome of that analogy of the "Inmates running the asylum". The states doesnt have a clue what it is doing beyond license sales (and even thats debatable) so we run around yelling here and not making a damn difference. Here is my latest and greatest take...cant wait to hear the complaints. Rather than ARs- I want accurate harvest/census data. I am all about older deer but the only attributes to ARs I like are more does proably being taken and the big one is knowing what youre shooting. Teh spray and pray Aholes are a safety concern amongst everything wrong with this activity/sport and management

conditions continually change- too many reference the way things used to be. trying to offer a different perspective not be rude

the uvkiller wash for clothes- as much time on a line outside as possible chepaest hunter scentfree soap and shampoo as possible. My big tricks are chlorophyll tablets (cheap online) from sept-nov and using a loofa sponge. The loofa removes dead skin cells....that is a large contributor of trackability. Boots in indigenous leaves grasses..mayeb some rabbit/deer pellets IMO- coverscents and scent lok are a total waist. I worked in an inudstry that used carbon for water filtration and I can assure you- it is not making a difference. tried the beesmoker cover scent idea before- had decent results but had curiousity interest too....and i am into being stealth....not stalked. I am alos not a meat hunter when it comes to bucks. :

The relationship is why one legal right (such as food plots or not wearing blaze) not okay, but the states suggestion to pass on yearlings bucks can be ignored in the name of "its my legal right". Either you back legal rights or you dont. Not an ala carte selection here...let alone ignoring your own states biological recommendation. Double standard...and an annoying one at that. Did I explain it with any more clarity?

Can one of the stats wizards pull out some figures on hunter denisty for regions 9 and 8? Think that will paint a very vivid picture.

I still say the simple solution is to follow Ohios structure- everyone should be happy

Buy chainsaws and mature bucks- new book out ($10, guys name is Hershberger from Ohio)- would probably help you a lot more imo Big differences in creating ground to hunt deer optimally and that to meet a biologists desires too

Thoughts on the value of a sanctuary...
gjs4 replied to G-Man's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Although in most instances a sanctuary would be benfitial- it all depends on location. The premise is th eimportant part- no disruption of deer within an area- treat your whole property as a sanctuary (as die form edges; providing the layout allows this) -
Those who put in effort with some intellect seem to pull great deer out of those areas. Duck hunters have every right to be there as you do...use that to your advantage

Interesting place- food sources have become food plots>food plots have become baiting..and though legal one can be accosted for such. Are mock scrapes baiting too? The state suggest to pass on yearling deer, though many on here feel violated when thats brought up because it is their right...but youre a POS if you plant something even if you dont hunt over it. Wow...Hypocrites unite!

A lack of good food in the area?
-
had one in 8g that was 237 dressed. Another 175. A buddy shot one 4.5, aroudn 145"s, that was 140. Vary like snowflakes unless you live in big Ag areas with high protien food like Soys

Great line from the "Wild Within" show that premiered last week To eat meat and saying hunting/killing animals is wrong is the same proxy as putting your trash by the curb and not caring/knowing where it goes.
-
I think we get so little in terms of support or knowledge from the state..not saying theyre that lazy..but believe theyre rather understaffed

Gun season; highlighting trespassers, baiters (including the trail cam cheaters on here and the other fourms), finding dead deer, errant shots in groups of 5, the lack of enforcement to nail the cheaters too....oh yeah, and deer managment in NYS ..... ;D

Well, guys you appear to have done a great job! Hats off.

I have some older sitka stuff- and it is not made for treestand hunting...but from a quality and function standpoint- it is about as good as it gets. wanna talk coin- I have a gray wolf woolens collection..... but if you havent figured it out yet- you typically get what you pay for A good cheaper version of sitka is russels apx g2..... I am a camo ho btw...

There is one that does venison bacon around candaigua..always wondered what that was like
-
That is awesome! Great job and the best of luck Sam

Great stat- that i did not know. Can you tell me how the DEC knows the age of the deer harvested? They dont. It is based on a limited census via checkstations and surveys..... theyre lost with data.
-
Can play a fun game of guess who only gun hunts....... Anyone who is a serious bowhunter and/or woodsman will easily recognize the stress gun season put on deer/herd.

Taken by legal methods in this state? I am sure either of those options would limit the flow of waste from your mindset So sad you have made this about personal attacks; because you were my hero until this pt.

Great job. Did you train using a particular method (liek that guy who sells the DVDs), or just your own? What do you do to keep your scent off the antler when handling them?
