Who knows. A lot of things happened. Supply of raw materials to foundries, federal bought them out, and 18g/cc dense tss is the new hevi13. TSS is too rich for my blood to justify cost. Besides I still have hevi13 #6 shells left. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

I think it looks good. The eyes and face typically seem weird and not normal to me. Yours looks good though. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

For the farm we have qdm goals that tend to limit doe harvest so multiple people can take one. I've got other properties though that I gained permission. This past season my big chest freezer was full with vension and a pig so I pumped the brakes on shooting deer back here in NY. Wrong move. Wishing I had more venison. Hoping to empty the whole freezer by bow season and then it'll be apocalyptic come October. Most of my spots are close and allow me to take a bunch without dropping too many on a particular property. Gas won't be too bad. More work but gotta shoot deer with next season in mind. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

Another hunting knife
dbHunterNY replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Between the two Benchmade? I carry the Osborne and use it a lot more for everyday stuff. It seems to keep sharp. The altitude I prefer for field dressing game hands down. It's just easier. I hunted in KY mountains and did the gutless method boning my dads whole buck out right there. No complaints at all. I will say it being stripped with just the spine and little triangles for scales it's not that comfortable to process a couple deer. S90v blade on the Altitude holds an edge though. Edc my favorite is the Osborne and for Field hunting knife it's the Altitude. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -
Upcoming Legislation Changes email from NDA
dbHunterNY replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in CrossBow Hunting
i know back in the beginning of February our Upper Hudson River Valley branch of the NDA reached out to their Director of Policy, Torin Miller. His reply seemed to suggest they were already working on it. For how long idk. Anyone that gets emails from NDA should've received it on Feb 21st. Good to see these action alerts are getting to folks. -
You shouldnt need to know age to be happy with what you took. Ive known of too many people though that didn't give the appreciation someone's buck deserved because it didn't score well yet was an older deer. Also I know people that were disappointed in some way they weren't seeing big booner racks hunting where everything dies at 2.5 or its just not to be expected for what that area can produce. Same for weight. Having at least a rough idea of age gives grounded expectations so you can worry less about an antler or body size pipe dream and just appreciate it for what it is. Maybe but the method and data have to be tested first through research and samples cl. Only thing you'll know is a skull is bigger or smaller than the previous. Without verifying age by other means and back checking the method you can't draw any conclusions. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

@wolc123 I don't know about deerage but matson lab is who we use has tweaked their rates a little. still we're sending in about 40 of them. with shipping and everything it's 25 per deer. They only do minimum of 5 deer per order for $75. Gets cheaper after that. Regardless 2 month turn around. Deerage last I knew was over 30 without shipping for one deer with 3 month turn around. Not sure if there's a discount for multiple deer orders. Not a plug for one over the other but makes a difference if you send in deer with buddies or not. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

So I get what people are saying and know where many doubts even come from but with practice and verification using cementum annuli analysis results you can get good at any method. We get harvest data and a lower jawbone from hundreds of deer every year and send in dozens of them. Three of us panel age the jawbones and a vast majority will not stump us. Only several of the 200 or so we'll hand in that don't seem to make sense. Often any dental issues or other stuff can be sorted out. Still rarely do they come back and we're off on age. The idea is still to put all the pieces together but to trash and disregard some of them just means you suck at using them. Just like a puzzle some make sense more than others but they all fit. My Daughters school is protesting mask mandates!
dbHunterNY replied to ApexerER's topic in General Chit Chat
Honestly a couple school districts here have different groups of parents that are just getting the run around trying to voice their concerns. I totally get where you're coming from with district admin but strongly disagree the kids didn't make a difference. There was over a hundred kids they can't turn away. It was all over more than just the local news. If school districts had kids show up like this in mass they have reason to address nys ed and request direction stating current mandate can't be enforced without severe concern. Nys isn't going to start failing hundreds or thousands of students. That destroys their national image and credibility they can manage the school system. Nys can't reprimand district and withhold funding if it goes down that way. Kids can make a difference. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -
My Daughters school is protesting mask mandates!
dbHunterNY replied to ApexerER's topic in General Chit Chat
that's awesome. honestly this defies logic. i get it that kids are less vaccinated. We all went through it though. my wife, 7yr old daughter, and i... we all ended up fine without being fully boosted and all. the mental damage and distraction from learning when they have to wear a mask i never saw coming. it doesn't make sense to keep them right now. it spread like wildfire with the strongest of mask mandates in place. also they're going everywhere else without one now so wearing one in school isn't doing much. hell my daughter was basically asymptomatic and likely isn't going to have this last variant again anyway. it's just said because whatever the intentions are now for keeping them aren't for the right reasons anymore in combating the virus. -

We're going to send in approx 40 sets of teeth this year to matson lab for CA analysis. End of february they ship and get resukts back prior to turkey season. You can't accurately age a deer by skull size or chest girth. That said any deer reaches full skeletal maturity at 4.5- 5.5 yrs old. So naturally you'll get more chest girth and a bigger skull. I should do some looking on public land. Private I've gotten pictures of some that already lost both sides or one side. I still feel it's a bit early for most bucks to be dropping though. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

Awesome Ryan. Looks like it'll serve you well. That garage is pretty big. That said i agree with phade 1000% get it layed out and planned before you fill it. I built one bigger than my last house for sq ft and still isn't big enough with all the crap I'm putting in it. Havent even gotten to getting shelving and building benches in there yet. publicly sharing it we had to follow local county guidelines. Acoustics in shop with cooler in the background and telehandler sometimes running doesn't make is easy. Especially streamed from just a smart phone and its microphone. Turn sound up is only advice I can give. Hopefully you still found the video useful. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

It will go from white back to yellowish if you didn't degrease it well enough. I've learned the secret to euros is patience and low heat. Too much heat or chemicals will thin out or etch the skull bones. I've simmered it in deluted 40 volume peroxide, used paste of 40 vol and baking soda, as well as tried oxi clean. Haven't noticed that much of a difference it'll all work. Rinse any if it off well though. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
