i'd invite you if i knew you wouldn't conspire against my compound bow efforts and have anything associated with them in disarray, forcing me to use my recurve. not to mention your harvest photo in front of a nice longbeard and a ShareYourHunt banner might get some attention. especially since the spinner beanie is a requirement. Besides I wouldn't feel right stealing that kind of potential PR from Culver's efforts out your way.

looks great as usual. it takes a lot to get a buck that old out this way unless you get up into blue line further.
-
welcome to the party.

i think it's safe to say that you did something that's subjectively questionable to peers. now you know moving forward. i get why you did it. probably should've done things a little different but what's done is done. No comment on responses from others from me. I've certainly got nothing to gain from trashing the hell out of you until you leave. like i stated in the beginning. i'd give DEC a call next time and see what comes of it.

my first deer and buck. what was most likely a 2.5 year old whitetail with a 6 pt rack.... 4 on its right and 2 on its left. it's was a trophy. my dad was pumped. wouldn't shoot it now because we've gotten everyone to collectively up standards voluntarily. the same level of realistic expectations and opportunity back then couldn't produce what we do today. despite the size difference they're still all considered trophies.

don't know exactly how it was done. it was long before me. based on the current condition of the barn and everything being original i think the birds were allowed to roam and then brought or allowed in. the barn was the coop i think but it's been very clean. there where and portions still left of old wooden conveyor/transport systems that helped with feeding and cleaning. don't know how many they had but it was enough to sustain most of their living i think.

thick thorns and brush may or may not be good. keep in mind with selective harvest a logger might open things up without getting rid of nearby bad stuff. if you've got invasive stuff like bush honey suckle (not the same as honey suckle down south) and buckthorn near these released and opened up areas you should get rid of it effectively. otherwise it'll replace what was there before anything of value grows or grows more. sure it provides cover but doesn't provide crap for nutritional browse. native weeds and plants will provide both and that's what you want.

your situation just sounds like selectively harvesting trees. it shouldn't effect things too much aside from the humane presence. if you can throw a basketball sized object and see it from 40+ yards away with ease, you might end up with more browse the deer will hit when passing through.

i'm probably good i have a couple friends with laying hens and three of my cousins in the area also have them. this is interesting though. i don't really know of anyone doing the mobile setup. my great great grandfather and great grandfather. had a chicken farm. three stories of birds in a barn. not sure how many at one time but it was a lot.

i was going to get out to check things over the weekend but it's been raining or we were gone. not changing anything up so im expecting it to be fine and all set. kids and schedules... different story. i don't want to rush life but can't wait for my own to be old enough. -
what are peoples results planting chicory
dbHunterNY replied to land 1's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
some up here plant clover and chicory blends on logging roads as cory posted with good success. it takes abuse. -
i don't know when pups are born exactly but if they aren't too capable they might drown. not the most humane method. i've known DEC to relocate "nuisance" animals including predators before. Different situation but hell they just relocated a yote that got stuck in the NY Museum. I would've probably called them first. There's legal reasons for dispatching them out of season just like some other wildlife but none of them seem to apply here. Also not exactly sure and a little less likely but you can get ticketed for harassing wildlife too i believe.

So I was curious. Any destination hunt I did I've driven. Farthest from here probably was NW Oklahoma. I asked a hunter I respect that has done the super slam with a bow and has hunted other continents too. He uses skb double bow case in US. International flights uses a less conspicuous large padded duffle style with wheels. Packs bow in bottom compartment well stuffed to protect it. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

mother coyote or fox around a den site is a little different natured than your normal behavior. My brother when he was i'm thinking around 10 or so had a fox come after him. never knew the den was nearby. as it was coming at him, he hit it with a stick, and then just ran back to the house. I get why you want whatever they are gone. I probably would've contacted DEC first being it's not the season and you're not say a farmer with whatever you're raising in danger.

Dinsdale's Guide? Dude hauls wildebeast out solo!
dbHunterNY replied to Jdubs's topic in General Hunting
i saw it. young guy is stout. could tell he pushed through to get it back to the truck. -
i've wondered how well the probes really work if at all. easier to just send in soil sample to local co-op extension office. DeerAg Back40 is a good mix. I don't know if George is still hanging around here. If you want an easy mix without making your own. it broadcasts well because the different seed sizes are separated. one doesn't get over cast more than another.

yea but that model that's a little newer than mine is prone to blowing a head gasket. if that issue gets fixed i can see it serving a dude well and gettin a job done.
-
doesn't come with a service plan and the maintenance is ridiculous. no thanks. i don't need two of them. one i already have is enough.
-
probably (6) 10'x10' panels.
-
mountains all around me northeast of Grampy. just over the border into VT they're still riding snowmobiles on groomed trails!
-
wife cooking some smoked ham steaks i put in the fridge. i'm at work though. i've got a decent sized pork loin thawed in the fridge to smoke. probably tomorrow. time is the issue and hard to instruct whomever will be home to do part of it.

you know we live in NYS. here every individual, including recreational public land users, have a say regarding what you can legally hunt with anywhere in the state. DEC just defines what you can use to hunt any particular game and the season dates for that game, to effect what you're toting further. what you're asking for can't feasibly be done, due to those pushing against allowing a crossbow as a legal implement to hunt with under DEC regulation. if the legislation wasn't stone walled then DEC could then weigh interest of the hunting license holding population. DEC won't go against the whole group of hunters, if not for very long. when the words full inclusion is mentioned with seasons in mind, that doesn't have anything to do with the legislative part. that's after and what DEC decides, based on the hunting public desire.

Legend Archery and Pelican also make them.
-
this is true. we had a meeting one summer with the entire big game unit of DEC. they bid the contract and the work is done. they'd have to wait until they overhauled the system as a whole, otherwise it'd be very costly to make changes here and there.

if i was planning on being out that way i would. i can only attend so many banquets, events, and be on so many boards before the wife starts docking deer season days or demands more vacation.
