glad you got that straighted out. some "wise" figure must have been hijacking your tenderloins you never knew existed. probably pointed to the backstraps and said "yup looks like you got everything". lol

nothing there but meat and possibly top of the offside top of a shoulder blade if elevated at the shot. the spine dips down more than you'd think.

wrong end of the deer. lol

nobody's buying it for that much. they're just doing it for the marketing and PR for the property.

i did one once with a 2.5 yr old modest size buck. the skull size and width was big like a fully mature 4.5+ yr old skull. i had to be creative and taper the pedicles out to the edge of the skull at an angle. after 10 yrs of being kicked around where the cap meets the plastic is cracked. still secure and could easily be fixed though. it came out well. I'll try to dig up some pictures to post.

some of the 209 muzzleloading primers like winchester 777, Remington Kleanbore, etc. supposedly burn relatively longer in duration but not as hot. CCI 209M (magnum) shotgun primers have a hotter and more intense burn to get through the flash channel of the breech plug and ignite the stuff consistently. that's the way this guy Don from the company explained to me way back when. funny thing is that was back 10 or so years ago. never could get my hands on it though around here so i didn't use it on a destination hunt at the time. nothing seems to have changed since then. other things he said was keeping flash channel cleaned out well from build up and primer fit to prevent blow back were both important. i picked some BH209 and CCI 209 shotshell primers for next year.

totally fine... if we want to go the bushcraft route a couple i've handled are really nice from benchmade and LT Wright that'd be easy enough to sharpen. couldn't imagine beating the hell out of such a nice knife though.

I guess I meant EDC and hunting. Most of us arent needing a Bush craft knife often. If im in that position I'll have a small hatchet. You're right they each serve a purpose and I'm not gutting a deer with something I can chop a sapling down with. lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Brew from Crossroads in the catskills. Amarillo hops can be a hit miss thing with me. This isnt bad though. This auto rotate thing is becoming annoying. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Definitely liking the benchmade in the original post havent had a chance to use it on deer yet but I already use folders for deer in field. Pain to clean but worth it to have something compact and light to fit in a pocket versus a large fixed blade. For years I've used cheap $5 lansky folders (pic). Small for the task though and despite razor sharp they dont hold an edge to skin and quarter a deer with just one. Thinking the benchmade with better steel and over 3" blade will do much better. Blade is still not real wide which to me is good for deer. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Well I have separate favorites for skinning or processing once the deer's hanging somewhere. I've got Dexter Russell soft grip 6" boning knives and a Victorinox 4" "Rabbit skinner" that are my go to. The cheap JA henkels set was micro serrated and junk. I ground them down to fine nonserrated edge. Dont hold edge long but sharpen fast and easy. Chef knife and 7" santoku get used the most along with 3" paring knife. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

also checked out their bushcrafter knife and it seemed too big and heavy.

i think cleaning would be a pain in the ass compared to a fixed blade. this one is lighter and slimmer than the benchmade ones you mentioned.

What would you recommend for a gun cleaning solvent

This Benchmade Osborn 940 is becoming my favorite outdoor/hunting knife; axis lock, soft coat aluminum scales, and s30v reverse tanto blade. Perfect size and shape for gutting and/or quartering a deer. Sharp enough to shave with it. No Bush craft shit but yea. ...what's your favorite outdoor knife? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I used to be a member of that page. I did it when I was plugging and spreading message for poaching legislation. That jackass stuff posted there made me leave or u follow the page. Don't remember which. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Before I was old enough to hunt big game I was born and raised to use freezer paper and plastic wrap by my dad. He had commercial stuff and a store back when I first showed up in this world. Talking the heavy duty stuff on large rack rolls. If you know the method its works fine to work air out as you wrap. Vacuum sealing is ridiculously easier though. Plus it lays better in the freezer. for anything with smokeless powder that you listed i've used Hoppe's, Butches Bore Shine, Boretech, Montana Extreme, and Sweet's products whether mine or somebody else's. They all work just fine. Hoppe's it the most readily available so that's what i pretty much use. I try not to use anything ammonia based. For ML i've used TC products blue liquid solvent and bore butter when using 777 propellent. switching to BH209 that won't really work well i think. Montana Xtreme works well with BH209 in a ML. -
Haha... I didnt buy stuff at walmart and I still have at least 3600 rounds of 9mm. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I have the Cabelas Commercial one that works just fine. multiple deer a year plus other stuff like garden veggies and store bought meat to change it up from eating venison so much. i've used an ARY chamber vac that was free standing at a butcher shop. the vp215 that someone mentioned might be good but not entirely needed.
