  1. Tell me again what recurve or longbow you are using EXCLUSIVELY for bowhunting? I'm sure you are not using a compound because the only reason to do so is because it is easier.
  2. No one should use 3D targets to learn anatomy. Was never their purpose.
  3. Will post again -1 comment and 1 question: Comment: There is only 1 real reason an "able bodied" individual chooses a compound instead of a recurve/longbow - that is they want something easier. That is fine with me until they insist that their easier should be the cutoff for all. Question: What recurve/longbow do you hunt with? My opinion is it is a far easier jump from recurve to compound than compound to crossbow. To get hunting accurate at 20 yards with a recurve takes at least weeks, probably months/years, to never for many. Same thing with a compound properly set up and with a little decent instruction can be done in an afternoon for many. With a crossbow off hand it is similar to a compound - maybe a bit easier for most. But on 3d ranges where both compete like the IBO, the compound consistently is on top. Crossbow with a rest is definitely easier. But finding a rest while hunting with a 20" minimum wide window and settling in with it while a deer is coming at <30 yds could be problematic. Few deer I have ever had in bow range appeared exactly where I expected.
  4. Not a criticism at all. Seeing thieves just tend to eliminate any filters I normally have. At 66, I have no delusions of emerging on top of most confrontations anymore. But at 66 I don't care all that much anymore
  5. As he was paying, I would have used my outdoor voice to "remind" him he may have forgotten some items.
  6. I will add that the nature of today's hunter is no different than the 1st one who embraced using a compound to get into the bow season rather than do the work needed to be hunting proficient with traditional equipment. Both seek/sought an easier method.
  7. Not going to read 9 pages - just jumped in pg 5. When I see a post like this, I have 1 comment and 1 question I always ask (below). Seldom do they get replied to. 8. 53# on the recurve, 51# on the compound.
  9. Unless they limit their shots to 15 yards.
  10. B50/55 can be used on any bow built either endless or Flemish. Common thinking is it is the only choice for older bows without reinforced tips. However many of these bows where shot with either linen or Kevlar strings - both have less stretch than most all the modern string materials. They just were not durable. The problem with many older bows was the string nock cut at too sharp angle on the limb tip.
  11. Depends on material choice and strand count with flemish as to whether padding is added for proper fit. With endless, different dia. servings can be used and/or strands added to the end for proper fit and "cushioning".
  12. More about proper fitting loops and angle of the nock. Lots use "FF" on older bows, but your call. Properly made dacron string should not need adjusting once brace is set and 20 or so shots.
  13. I sell the Bow Hush silencers and wrap as well - took it over from the owner. Great add on option if you have a string already.
  14. Arnot Forest is another consideration for you.
  15. Top boxers never train wrestling, jujistso(sp), etc. It would be foolish for any boxer to enter a MMA match with a high rated fighter without extensive, high level training that takes years to achieve competitive ability. Large part of a top MMA fighters training is in boxing. Much more realistic for them to try a boxer supposedly past their prime, than a boxer to try a top MMA fighter in their prime.
  16. How do you explain the countless dying daily of cancer (and other vile nasty diseases) - many after prolonged intense suffering with their families, friends, and own daily prayers - all from people of faith meeting any conditions of true believers you may arbitrarily set. I'm not implying, I'm stating that if your premise on your personal deer hunting results are to be believed then yes - there are huge definite limits.
  17. Like believing he helps with your deer instead of that cancer cure thing.
  18. So god takes care of you hunting but can't nail down the cure for cancer. Flip side of taking credit is taking blame.
  19. Possibly but still a guess open to interpretation. Some think a 10 point is old enough even though it might only be 1.5 or 2.5. Do they mean wait for mature deer? If so, what is mature.
  20. What do they define as "Young Bucks" that are 2 be passed on?
  21. Your thoughts? I was on the fence since 1st hearing about it 2 to 3 years ago. Thinking that shooting each other for fun not be the best face for archery. But paintball does not seem to have effected the shooting sports that way. It is growing rapidly in parts of the country and the feedback I have seen is that there are far fewer injuries than with paintball or even dodge ball - the old game most archery tag systems is based on.
  22. Only jumped around and read a few post. How about a show of hands for those that have changed their position - regardless of what it was.
