  1. Ahh, sort of, but see the above John Hopkins report, esp section on Covid-19 life span on surfaces. This all depends on how folks at retailers protect themselves & the customer when stocking shelves. Or who has handled or contaminated item you're purchasing. So whether paper, plastic of reusable bags - you're bringing it home. If you were a germaphobe before this pandemic, you're definitely OCD about it now!!! My rule - If in doubt, wash your hands!
  2. Fond childhood memories of my dad sitting in his recliner during the winter months weaving nets out of small gauge wire. Then fabricating the handles, HD wire loops and attaching the nets to that. Then off we'd go in the darkness to tributaries of southern Cayuga Lake on a Fri/Sat evening. Some trips it'd take hours to 1/2 fill a bucket and other nights 8-10 blind dips filled the 5-gal bucket. And that was the fun part. If you got a 5-gal bucket full, you had a "ton" of fish to clean. That was always a 2-person assembly line. One with filet knife or scissors cutting off head and making a slit down the belly. Other person ran their finger/thumb nail down the inside removing the innards and washed off the fish. IRC, once breaded & fried, you ate the whole thing bones & all less the tail.
  3. Clearly there are a couple of posts that are referring to either LEO &/or military training or situations. The other 98% of us are using CC to level the playing field or dissuade someone from causing harm to us! Wouldn't a little range time make you more proficient with your 1st mag's 6-10 shots? I'm with Robhuntandfish, wouldn't square off with someone advancing on me with a weapon. Couple of well aimed shots and them I'm heading for high ground! Obviously a totally different scenario if it's an intruder in my home! If you feel more secure carrying 1-2 spare mags, go for it!
  4. This concert was a concept for many years. Just couldn't get Baker & Bruce to be cordial enough towards each other to get back together. Obviously, Clapton wanted nothing to do with this feud. Guess, money talks in the end!
  5. You should try to catch one of their concerts. Only ~$3k to see some 70yo singing & dancing.
  6. Head-scratcher #2 - Local ice cream shop is opening in a few weeks. What food group &/or exempt classification does this fall under. We just won't give up our guilty pleasures for anything, booze & sweets.
  7. Grampy is the expert! But IRC there is the pre-reading and then two class sessions. Lecture and 2nd part is the practical, hands-on with firearm safety and whatever else instructor feels is appropriate or NYS mandates. Isn't this scenario still being used for both gun & bow safety classes. This 2nd session is what I was referring to as possibly being completed at-home after in-class session was completed. Calling Grampy...!
  8. ... and just wait until the snow melts revealing the real hidden treasure. My neighbor still has 3-4 lg leaf bags full that have blowing around all winter, want 'em?
  9. The Stones have always been big fans of (really) old time American blues. I'd list some of the old blues singers names, but most of you wouldn't know of them.
  10. The first part of the hunter safety class being put up online is a "no-brainer". Maybe there needs to be a 2nd part, an at-home study session. The attendee should be required to get a cert sign-off by another NYS hunting license holder, R&G club, LEO, etc stating individual has been initially trained in safe firearm use/handling. Grampy - I can see the hair on your neck already standing up. LOL. Just a thought.
  11. ^^^ for 2nd infection of virus. Still have to survive initial CVoid-19 infection. From what I've read, any vaccine for this strain of virus is at least 1yr down the road after phase testing. Also may be a couple mutant stains of CVoid-19 developing that may/may not be preventable even if a vaccine were available. Sorry for the doom & gloom!
  12. Didn't article mention they were shed finds? Mounting them onto a taxidermy form doesn't do the sheds justice!
  13. Hate being the pessimist or "bad guy", but what makes you folks think miraculously this pandemic will run its' course and we'll be back to semi-normal within months? I truly wish you are right, but the history of past pandemics shows otherwise.
  14. OPPS, my bad. Forgot about the difference in shelf placement for LH/RH bows.
  15. WOW, and I thought I was the only one!! Not long after the lights go out, so do I...
  16. Flipping the sight pins to the other side isn't a big deal. Most are universal anyways!
  17. Welcome to the world of online GEDs & BS/BA degrees.
  18. Good for you!! But finding a bow hunting safety course scheduled before Xbow opens could possibly be an issue with this Covid-19 issue. Let's hope not!! Maybe the DEC will offer it online this year!?!
  19. Now here's a head scratcher that defies reasoning; Someone told me liquor stores were considered essential businesses and will remain open.
  20. Some trimmers can be taken apart and cutting blades sharpened with a stone. Before throwing one away, try it.
  21. Those eggs have to be pretty small..? Maybe the size of a lg marble?
  22. Problem with this topic is it's a hypothetical scenario and most members have, nor will ever be in a destitute situation of having to do what needs to be done to survive. But all the "what ifs" are amusing to read.
  23. Why? People (2% rule) are idiots and that's why the govt feels inclined to make rules/laws to control dumb-a$$es... like it or not! To the other 98% it's purely common sense. Lets hope a CV vaccine gets developed soon before the whole hysteria gets too out of control.
  24. It's not the shoe sizer gizmo that should be in question, it's a US std. It's the off-shore shoe mfgers that don't have standardized sizes per US customers. I've run into this situation with ordering hunting boots online... a lot!!! BTW - When you size yourself with the sizer gizmo, you should be standing up forcing your feet to spread like while wearing boots, shoes, etc.
