  1. Modell's is in bankruptcy & closing store. Can only wish Dick's follows the same route...
  2. Shot a bearded hen one time after calling to a Tom for an hour. He went silent when he was ~50-60yrds in the brush. Needless to say my nerves & adrenaline level were "peaked" when I saw a turkey with a beard ghosting thru the brush. Shot, walked over, looked.. oh crap! Several times I've entered the woods in the dark owl hooting along the way & ended up sitting directly under &/or in the midst of roosted turkeys. Not a lot you can do once the sun comes up and the turkeys above you start chattering a little.
  3. Like I said, "Dumb question". Very cool & inventive fabrication!
  4. Dumb question ... Couldn't you have simply built an extension onto the rear rack? Obviously there's a reason the frt/rear racks are pretty much over the top of the axles. Gotta be a good reason...
  5. WOW, that's a ghost from my past, Bond's fruit stand. Lived a couple miles from there during HS.
  6. ... or just install new full height studs & forget about trying to frame in the void left once FP is out.
  7. Initially I thought this gizmo was a sort of Draw-Loc substitute, but it's not! Fancy & probably expensive gizmo for a repeating vertical bow! Should we run this by the NYBH for their approval...
  8. ^^^ may also need the security # from back of card... I know my credit union Visa has a sort of regional tracker. Watches where purchases are most frequently made and contacts me if an out of that specific area charge is detected. Banks and Credit Unions are much better about these credit card "hacks" than they were ~15yrs ago. Still vividly recall fighting with my bank over a fraudulent CC charge for a PC in France. Back when eBay & PayPal weren't quite as secure as they thought they were.
  9. It's been stated that NYS' hunting #s are declining mainly due to the baby boomers getting out of hunting and fewer younger generations getting into the sport creating a slow decline in licenses sold.
  10. Please, don't do that! Only use an established tattoo shop with artist that have been doing tats for years. Mentioned this before, most artist have a sort of specialty and not all can do everything well! Shop around, don't make a tattoo a spur of the moment decision you'll regret.
  11. Little kids can get overly affectionate with a dog, poking it, tight hugs around their neck, pulling tails or ears, etc. Regardless of breed, not many dogs would tolerate a little kids stumbling & falling on top of them. Takes a special dog to endure that kind of abusive affection. Assuming from this newscast mentioning child was alone, we'll never know what actually instigated that dog. Not defending the dog, but if it were mine I'd have to agree with having it put down!
  12. Make sure you know your artist's work by examples/references and insist on seeing their interpretation of your design before going in the shop to sit. Know what the artist specialization is! Not all tattoo artist are good at portrait tats. Any doubts, back out!! This is one-time you don't want to shop around for lowest price!!! Any area of the body where the skin is closer to bone &/or nerves will be ... painful.
  13. ^^^ and fixed power scopes are typically cheaper than variable mag models. If you're not going to make >100yrd shots ever, a 4X is ideal.
  14. Guys adjacent to where I hunt typically put in a ~1.5ac corn plot in mid to late June. Usually ready & hit hard by deer about Nov 1st (+/-) & beyond. Issue with planting that late is we don't always get rain enough to germinate seeds like in the spring. They always brush hogged it down just before SZ regular season. Assuming mainly for visibility &/or shooting reasons. Deer & turkeys were hitting it into the winter until snow cover got too deep. No clue as to brand/type of corn, just a planting idea...
  15. ^^^ That's bizarre! Never heard of that!
  16. Pretty sure you've heard the phrase "Internet Troll", right?
  17. I had a dumpster parked near a window so I could toss all the lathe & plaster out the window and into the lugger. Took a little creative driving on the part of the drop-off driver, but ended up being a huge time & energy saver.
  18. Yeah, I also read the person that originally was being attacked by the dog had locked him/her-self in a room/apartment. At least in my feeble mind that'd mean it was time to call the cops or Animal Control. Dude that took it upon himself to be hero didn't give the situation much thought before rushing in. Pitt bulls can be good family dogs, but they can also be easily derailed into an aggressive dog if the owner is not willing to deal correctly with the breed. The bad ones get more publicity than all the good Pitts. Same goes for some of the other breeds the insurance companies with-hold policies due to bad owners &/or training. IE; Shepherds, Huskies, Rotties, etc. I'd be willing to bet there are more dog attacks by the smaller ankle-biters than larger dogs, just the reports mainly go unreported and are obviously less severe.
  19. So, you're not throwing away all the upper/lower kitchen cabinets, counter tops, bathroom vanity, sink, toilet, shower and surround. How about interior doors. These are the things that fill-up a dumpster faster than lathe & plaster. IRC, your town may require an asbestos inspection done before remodeling older homes &/or placing discarded old bldg items in a dumpster. Couple across the street from me went thru this. Vintage siding, old plaster, tiles, glues used for paneling & tub surrounds all had some asbestos in them. This is costly and basically removes you from the destruction phase of your remodel.
  20. Another good example of this debate about killing off predators vs living along side them is the wolves in the western states. Okay, maybe on a 10x level. Deemed a nuisance, killed off to almost extinction, brought back by Environmentalist, same problems arise again, killing them off ... endless cycle. Assuming it depends on which side of the debate you take your stance as to how you view coyotes in literally your own backyard.
  21. Found this Nat Geo documentary a little bizarre when it cast the urban Eastern Wolf population as non-threatening to humans, pets, etc. Must be a Canadian take on the issue!?! Never heard the term coywolf describing the Eastern coyote, which by definition is the wolf/coyote hybrid. Did find it interesting when researchers sampled blood or DNA, they found Eastern and Western coyotes in the same areas. I hunt in an area of very high raccoon populations and maybe a single family unit of coyotes. If what you're suggesting is true, there should be more yotes around due to a large food source and way fewer coons. Just not seeing that where I've hunted the past ~15yrs! Possibly as an opportunistic meal, but not seeking raccoons out as a primary food source! This video is exactly why I have this opinion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EVbnWubVjI
  22. I have no qualms about ruining a deer/turkey hunt by shooting a coyote! Would be just a little hesitant shooting one like in the photo fearing it might be someone's pet dog. Have to look it over really well and by then it'd probably be gone. Kool coloration!
