Damn turkeys and deer !!! Somebody oughta SHOOT 'em all !!! hehehe...

Adams is a great generic mayfly imitator...When I was tying, I would tie a grizzly hackle rather than the classic spent wing, in sizes 14, 16 and 18... Last time I fished the Beaverkill, which was awhile ago, 2 friends and I fished just upstream of the covered bridge...Several flies were coming off, but one of my buddies finally figured out which one the trout were eating.... # 18 BWO.....between the three of us, we caught and realeased about 60 trout in about 2 hours...Great day...

I catch walleyes so seldom that I can't imagine putting them back....Only time I have done that was while fishing some spots up in Canada where you .can catch a bunch in a day and can only bring back one day's limit, so you only keep what you are going to eat per day... I fish walleyes in my local river, but fishing is not great..I have only caught my daily limit of five three times in my life...Generally, if I catch one legal walleye in a morning' or evening, that is a very good day..I often fish several days without catching a legal fish, other than bass... Last year I caught a nice one (22") on my very first cast of the first day I fished for them....Fished 3 more times and caught NADA, so I went on to more productive fishing like perch, panfish and smallies...

I might have checked out HER exhaust.....Hehehe....

Those weren't MY handcuffs, Larry....She snuck up on me with them....<<sigh>>…..

I once had a swordfight underneath a junked car with a porcupine, using an 18" Japanese bayonet that my Dad brought back from WWII... Probably one of the stupidest things I have ever done....I emerged without losing my eyesight , due to luck and being young and able to backpeddle quickly on my belly.... I do believe that alcohol was involved...

I avoid taking turtles this time of the year...I'd prefer to let them lay their eggs and maybe take one to eat in a month or so, after the nesting season. I have dodged several in the road within the last week...

Loooong range shooting help.
Pygmy replied to Gencountyzeek's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Too technical for me....I used to have a paper taped to the stock of my .280 that read 100 + 4""...200 +4"....300 -4"....400 -12"..... That was with a 140 grain bullet @ 3000 fps and a Leupold fixed 4X scope.... As technical as I ever got... BTW...Those figures were obtained by shooting groups at those ranges, not from a ballistics table... Good luck...That long range stuff sounds like fun …... -
I can't say that I have EVER seen a box turtle, although snappers and painted turtles are very common around here, and soft shelled turtles seem common in some of the Finger Lakes, notably Keuka and Honeoye... I have seen a couple of wood turtles, but they are not real common...I had to look them up after I rescued one from the road. Nice pictures...

I love the standard S&W wood grips....Had a set of target grips on my K22 for awhile...Took them off and gave them to a buddy... I have a set of Pach grips on my M66 and they are not bad, but I'd still prefer the standard grips...

Good luck..!! Largemouths or smallies ?

I got injured once and had to go to the Doctor... He said ' your "manhood" is badly bruised...How did that happen ..?... I told him " I fell on it.."....

I dated a tall chick for awhile.....Probably looked kinda like that guy..... We used the BUCKET method of birth control..... When we got "friendly" she liked to do it standing up....Since she was so tall and I am so short, I would stand on a bucket... At the crucial time, she'd watch my face, and when my eyes started to roll back in my head, she'd kick the BUCKET out from under me...

Are you lucid yet, Larry ?? Here's hoping you turned out to be a perfect a**hole !
-
Nope...We called them slutty girls....

I wish I still had my Fanner 50....It came with a quality leather holster and gunbelt……. I spent lots of time in local criks...A friend and I got pretty adept at fingering suckers in Tuscarora Creek... THAT statement should be worth a wisecrack or two !!...Hehehe....

I see you're eating on the GOOD china, Nick !! Just like home...…<<GRIN>>...

Not being an ATV type guy, it took me awhile to figure out what getting " high centered" meant.... Got it now...Hehehe.... -
Good luck, Good Buddy....I have been through several....Feel your pain.... The Mermaid has one Wednesday, going in from both ends...I told her to tell the doc to make sure to go in from the UPPER end first.....

The Derby has been around as long as I remember, and I am 68....If participation is decreasing it is because the quality of the fishery has decreased...I have talked to some seasoned Seneca lake trout fisherman the last few years that have fished the entire derby and not caught a single fish...
-
…….????….I didn't see anyone questioning your catch, Val....Somebody bust your chops in a PM or something ?
-
Thanks....I'm glad you explained that to me...I feel much better now..I get so CONFUSED sometimes....<<sigh>>...
-
Kill 'em all, Wolc… The Good Lord meant for YOU to have those fish, rather than those silly ass birds that he ALSO created... Wait a minute....Is there a contradiction here ?....
-
They are not that uncommon in my area....I would shoot a piebald according to the criteria I shoot other deer...It would need to be an adult, no fawns...

If I were hunting Maine I would definitely consider paying a local with a log skidder to haul the critter out...When I got my bull in NB in 2004, my guide/friend just happened to be a dairy farmer, so we had a big diesel tractor at our disposal...Dressed the critter, skidded it out and lifted it into the bed of a truck with the front end loader..That was a far cry from our Alaska bulls, where we had to butcher and bag them and then carry every piece on our backs on packframes to where a float plane could get to it...I was younger and in much better physical condition then, and it still kicked my butt..Today it would kill me for sure ….Hehehe....
