Waaaaay, cool. my friend...... 80 years ago, Hitler would have contracted you to do his SS . stuff !
-
I heard my first gobbler on the property this morning since Moog hunted with me... Perhaps the jinx is wearing off...I still have 3 more mornings.... I hope he didn't jinx the whole province of Quebec for bear hunting while he was there....<<sigh>>….

Mabel's House of Pleasure offers a special for just such an event..... You all sit in one room enjoying tea and crumpets and listen to the girls fart over the telephone.... Oh yeah....You are required to check your testicles at the door...
-
Silly bastards !!...I'm ready to go do something SENSIBLE, like going FISHING !! Oh well.. Only a few more days …<<sigh>>...
-
That is pretty much the story of my entire season....Reminds me of the 1960s Rachel Carson book " Silent Spring"....

Banana seats hadn't been invented yet....Handlebar baskets and coon tails, rather than orange flags were more the fashion...
-
I'll never forget the time I was riding my 24" Schwinn down a steep hill and a sheath knife that was hanging from a belt on my handlebars swung into the spokes ! That was the end of MY biker days....I can still remember picking the gravel out of my forearms...

Everyone likes a good firefight in a movie ..
Pygmy replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
The gunfight on the staircase at the bus/train station in " The Untouchables", was pretty cool., in slow motion with the baby bouncing down the stairs in his carriage right in the middle of it.. Another favorite of mine is the barroom gunfight in "Unforgiven", when Clint wipes out the entire opposition with one shotgun blast, a misfire, and a cylinder full of .45s from a S&W Schofield... He aims his shots, too, not the fakey hipshot/fanning BS of the spaghetti westerns... -
And also my dear friend and hunting and fishing buddy, PFC James Randall, 3/10/71 in Vietnam....He would have been 21 in Sept of that year....I served as one of his pallbearers and entered active duty myself on 4/6/71...

Don't forget homosexuals and women....We wouldn't want THEM to feel left out !

How do they separate the men from the boys in Greece ? With a CROWBAR....
-
Worst job I ever had was when I did a tour of duty on a Greek Vaseline freighter where all the doorways were 3 feet off the deck...That job was a REAL pain in the butt ! I turned down as job as a towel boy in a San Francisco bath house when they told me to report for work with my undershorts on backwards....

Go kill YOGI, ya big CHOOCH !!….Leave Boo-Boo alone..Hehehehe.

Best caliber for hunting that works with AR platform
Pygmy replied to Hunter007's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
As far as shooting holes in buildings, I know of more shotgun slug holes than HV rifle holes...Irresponsible shooters are dangerous with any weapon...I'm betting that 30-30s in the hands of irresponsible people account for as many holes in buildings than longer range rounds... The danger of a long range round going way off in the distance and striking a person or a building are like the odds of being struck by lightning...Look at that accident stats since rifles have been made legal in the southern tier...They have gone down, and most accidents that have occurred have been at ranges that they would have occurred with shotguns... -

You have made it clear previously that you consider people who shoot at long ranges "shooters" rather than "hunters"... I have no problem that being your opinion...Of course, you know what they say about OPINIONS..Hehehe.. I will accept being a shooter rather than a hunter in your OPINION... The area that many of the deer that I hunt appear in my murder plot is 225 yards from my stand...I can shoot up to 330 yards from that stand.. When I was hunting in Pa, I hunted a spot that often offered shots at 300-400 yards...I killed a few deer at those ranges and thought that it was pretty cool, and I have shot my share at close range in the woods over the last 50 + years... Now with the hunting I have done out west, in Alaska, and in northern Canada, often 200 yards is no where near far enough... -
10-4 on the reciprocity....

I have been in Juneau twice in late July/early August....Both times I was glad to have a waterproof, insulated windbreaker type jacket....If you are going near water or at higher altitude ( such as Denali) , dress warm....
-
Bugs not bad here yet, Larry...Had the thermacell and never fired it up... Having one one my worst seasons as far as hearing gobblers...
-
I saw 5 hens today but nary a sight nor a sound from a tom...With all those hens around there MUST be a gobbler there someplace...Tomorrow is another day...
-
Well done, Zeb !! Congrats to your young hunter... Some gobblers are just smaller than others...I have seen a few 14-15 pound 2 year olds over the years.. The smallest was shot by a friend of mine...Weighed 12 pounds, had a 9" beard and 3/4" spurs...Seemed to be a perfectly healthy gobbler, just small... On the other end of the spectrum, my ex wife shot a 23 pound slob that had an 8 " beard and 3/4" spurs... Very likely a 2 year old bird....Possibly the Moog 5050 of the turkey world...

Those J C Higgins pumps were made by High Standard...The fore end is a dead giveaway... Nice solid old shotguns...
-
My K22 Masterpiece was my first handgun and would be the last one I would ever part with...

Congrats, My Friend...!! Glad to see you are having a good season this year.... Now go get one in range of that pretty little girl !!
