  1. Dang, Al ! Did you buy an Armalite AR-17 shotgun too ???......Hehehe...
  2. Regarding women.....Never mind...It would get me banned....Hehehe...
  3. Regarding wingshooting.....In order to make a double, you need to be sure to kill the first bird....If you are thinking about the second bird, you'll probably miss the first one...
  4. Another one regarding turkey hunting.... Any time that you are in contact with an adult gobbler, events are constantly occurring, any one of which can make the difference in whether you win the game or lose it....
  5. Regarding turkey hunting..... If you persevere, you will eventually kill some turkeys that you do not deserve....However, at the same time you will deserve many more turkeys that you do not kill..... Quoted ( more or less) From Tom Kelly's book " The Tenth Legion"... Truer words were never spoken....( Quoted from Pygmy 4/12/2018.....)
  6. Hehehehe....VooDoo hex Eh, Mon !! Sexy is when you tickle her with a feather....KINKY is when you use you use the whole chicken.....Hehehe...
  7. I canceled my trip to Keuka earlier this week because it was too dam COLD... However, tomorrow is forcast to be 73 degrees and then 64 Saturday with fairly light winds...I'm a GOIN' in the morning and if we do well, perhaps Saturday too...
  8. Was this picture taken at Sylvan Beach ?
  9. The OP stated at the beginning that he would prefer not to monkey with reforming cases. Good input, however..It's always a viable alternative should properly head stamped case be unavailable..
  10. Cool pictures , thanks for sharing ! Foxes have pups in the den now...That squirrel is probably breakfast for the family...
  11. They could eat a pretty good sized trout...Adult bullfrogs are no problem for them...They are AWESOME predators....
  12. Yup, good ol' 8T....A couple of my buddies have property in 8T and they are overrun with deer, but no doe permits except for landowners and preference point holders..
  13. I see an egret now and then here in the Chemung River drainage...They are not real common here, but not rare either.. A couple of years ago there was one hanging around just downstream of the Centerway Bridge in Corning for a couple of weeks..
  14. The warm temps the next couple of days should have the birds gobbling their tails off... A good rule of thumb is that they usually start gobbling about a half hour before published sunrise.. Just get into a good listening spot before daylight... I prefer to let the birds gobble on their own. As far as locator calls go, I much prefer a good loud crow call to an owl hooter...
  15. Nice picts, Curmudgeon...I have been seeing both woodies and hoodies on local beaver ponds for a couple of weeks... I love your picture of the heron... I'll never forget watching one eat a 3 foot long water snake by a pond in my sister's back yard in Florida a few years ago....He swallowed the snake whole and it did not take him long to do it, either !!
  16. I can remember when the main factory loaded 22. centerfires were the .22 Hornet, the .222 rem, the .222 Rem mag and the .220 Swift.... The 22-250 was still a wildcat and the .218 Bee and the.219 Zipper were relatively obscure...
  17. He's not the first macho stud that fell victim to a nasty gash....
  18. Nothing I like better than a happy ending....<<SNIFF>>... ( A tear trickles down Pygmy's ruddy little face)....
  19. For me it would have to be more specific... One close friend of mine is the best turkey hunting tactician and woods caller I have ever known...If I wanted a specific gobbler knocked off, he is the person I would send to do it.. Another friend is the best offhand rifle shot I have ever seen..At 100 yards he can stand flat footed and blow a hole in a hummingbird as big as your fist.. I probably hold the title for being the most successful one-horn spike buck shooter in the state.. It goes on and on...
  20. 10-4 Jala....I've been there..One of the relatively few Lake Ontario tribs I have fished..
  21. Omigawd !! My sister has had minature schnauzers all of her life.... I HATE those yappy little bastards.....Not quite as much as Min poodles or peekapoos, but ALMOST as much... Most of those ankle biters are best used as coyote food !! If you want a dog, get a REAL dog...Lots of medium sized mixed breeds at the shelters that make MUCH better house pets than those noisy, disgusting little pieces of DOG POOP !!
  22. I just dust them them in flour, salt& pepper and sautee in butter until golden brown... They taste MUCH better than chicken.... I think the ones I had in the restaurant may have been sitting in the freezer for a couple of years.. Besides that they were probably some imported Indonesian frog legs rather than good old fashioned American bull frog or green frog legs...
  23. I used to go froggin' when I was a mere wisp of a lad, and they were always wonderful...I haven't had in years... Then a couple of years ago at a little restaurant on the north shore of Oneida Lake I saw them on the menu... I asked the waitress about them and she said " OH , they're to DIE for !! " Well, I ordered them and she was RIGHT...If I ever had to eat them again I'd SHOOT myself !" They were downright awful....
  24. I understand...My Dad was a child of the Great Depression and meat was meat and it was hard to come by... However, by the time I started hunting times had changed and he insisted that I play by the rules... It may have been because he knew he'd have to pay my fine if I got poaching..Hehehehe...
  25. The savage is a classic, especially in that chambering, or 250-3000... I have a Winchester auto myself..It is a M59 with fiberglass barrel and Winchoke, the first screw in flush barrel choke tubes on the market, at least that I am aware of.. I bought it used in 1965 for $100...Used it to kill my first turkey, first goose, first mallard duck and all kinds of other game, including literally hundreds of crows..It still shoots great EXCEPT with slugs.. It is AWFUL with slugs...I never hit close enough to the target to figure out WHERE it shot...Hehehehe... When I was in my late teens it was my only shotgun, so I had to borrow a gun for deer season because of that...
