  1. I'm betting it was a buck....Never saw coyotes do stuff like that...They wouldn't bother with it unless it was edible... BEARS, on the other hand, seem to enjoy chewing up plastic or foam items just for the heck of it....They also like to eat trailcams..
  2. I never had VD before, but I sure don't want it AGAIN !!...Hehehe..........
  3. It was Mabels' House of Pleasure.... Thier standard phone reply was " Mabel's House of Pleasure...Mabel is tied up right now, may I help you ?"
  4. I had an uncle who worked in a barrel bunging factory... His job title was " Cork Socker"....
  5. How about two bandaids and a cork ??
  6. That is indeed impressive, Growie...<<grin>>.. Reminds me of why I didn't date any Cameron girls why I was a young buck.. If I pissed 'em off they'd crack my skull like a walnut...Thy were handy, however, when there was a deer to be dragged or a hog to be butchered.....Hehehehe...
  7. You'd shoot THAT little thing ??....Shame on you !!..He'll be a DANDY in a couple of years...
  8. Do what I do.....Wait for rifle season....Hehehehe....
  9. Most chamberings based on the .308 do well with short barrels...I never used a 7-08 shorter than 20" but I an guessing it would do fine..I am sure 7600 has had experience with it, since he takes a hacksaw to every rifle he buys....Hehehehe.. A buddy of mine shot a bunch of deer with a TC Encore pistol with a 15 INCH 7mm08 bbl, and they included some at ranges over 200 yards..I never recall him having any problems...
  10. Talk to buckmaster 7600....He likes stubby barrels.....Concerns about velocity loss are not a big deal unless you are shooting at long range , say 300 yards...Also, efficient chamberings like those based on the .308 Win case suffer relatively less velocty loss than overbore cartridges like the 25-06, 7mm Rem mag and all the weatherby mags, which tend to turn into loud, ineffficient fire breathers with barrels less than 24 inches or so..
  11. I'm 67.... I plan to live forever....So far, so good...<<grin>>....
  12. I have heard Gray Jays, also know as Canada Jays, whiskey jacks and camp robbers, referred to as magpies.. Real magpies, the black and white ones with the long tailfeathers, are a western species...I have seen them in the west from Mexico all the way north to Alaska..They are a cool looking bird..I have always thought one would make an interesting and attractive mount.. I expect Biz will shoot one someday and have it mounted next to his porcupine...Hehehehe....
  13. Nope...Elderberries grow in clusters of many hundreds of berries, kind of resembling miniature grapes..They are small berries, perhaps 1/4 the size of blue berries or smaller.. I have seen those berries in your pictures, but I'm not sure what they are...I have found them in the craws of grouse often.. I'm sure Growie or one of the other plant experts on the forum will be able to identify them..
  14. My daughter and son in law lived in Norfolk for several years...That's way north, between Potsdam and Massena.. I stopped into a little bar on the main street for a couple of brews....There were some REAL rednecks in there !! That tree toad may have been one of them...Hehehehehe..
  15. Geeze, Biz....I never heard of baitpiles until I started hanging out on this forum with all of you flatlanders...Hehehehe..
  16. hehehehe...I don't have opinion...I haven't been east of the Hudson since 1977, and hopefully I won't go there again...
  17. I would be VERY surprised if they grouped much differently.. However I would be sure to buy a box of them and confirm the grouping before I took them hunting..
  18. I had "possession" of a M24 for a couple of years..It belonged to my BIL who no longer hunted and the front sight was broken off..At his request I had the sight replaced and hunted with the gun for a couple of years..It was in very good shape and I killed rabbits, squirrels and grouse with it. Eventually my nephew expressed an interest in it and his Dad gave it to him... A couple of years ago my nephew bragged to me that he had got $150 for "that old gun" at a yard sale.. I could have wrung his neck !! Somebody got a smokin' deal on a nice old firearm..
  19. DAMN !! He must have been eating his WHEATIES.....<<GRIN>>... Nice bucks, my friend !!...<<SMILE>>...
  20. Not a bad option, either... I can no longer function well with traditional open sights due to my old eyes.. However, I still can shoot pretty well with a tang mounted peep sight and a front bead on my early 1970's vintage TC Hawken... Actually, I seem to shoot better offhand with that sighting system than most other sighting systems....
  21. I like Dinsdale's Of course he busy killing everything in Africa right now and is out of touch with the internet... The only issue with his is that he has to move it with a forklift.. The nicest one I ever used belonged to a good friend of mine and was built on a marble measuring table which was "liberated" from a local industry...He had a 300 yard range in front of it also..Unfortunately, he got tired of New York's taxes and gun laws and moved to PA, so I lost access to the range, which I had access to any time I wanted to use it.. Nowadays I use the range at my local gun club of which I have been a member since 1967....It has a nice shooting house with 100 and 200 yard target butts , and during the week there is seldom anyone there but me...
  22. Holy chit, Batman !! She is a shooter for sure..!! Nice piece of walnut in the stock, too...You have done WELL, Pilgrim...<<grin>>.....
  23. There's a co-incidence, Al....My grandson is also named Noah...He's a tad young to be handling firearms, though....I hope he takes an interest in hunting, so I'll have someone to leave my guns to....
  24. A crow that sounds like a buck grunt ? Probably a raven, Growie...Those things are capable of making all kinds of weird sounds..
  25. A young friend of mine has one and he loves it...Says it's a great gun and has never hiccupped in the 3 years that he has hunted with it..
