  1. Why aren't you just a sweet meat white boy ?? Is that a pack of Marlboros in the right front pocket of your jeans or are you just happy to see me ?... Hehehehehe...Cool picture, Larry .......
  2. I bought mine from a friend for $600...It has been drilled/tapped for a receiver sight, so it would not bring top dollar, but it is a mid 1950s Belgian and is in very good condition ...Shoots good.....Kills bunny rabbits....
  3. Right ON, Bugsy !! I am holding a beer in one hand and my Belgian Light 20 in the other !! On the OTHER hand, my first A-5 was a 3" Mag 12, and that was a great shotgun also... Killed a bunch of turkeys, ducks and geese with it, and also a few hundred crows , since that was back in my crow hunting days...I had a 2/34" handload featuring 1 1/4 oz. of # 6 or 7 1/2 shot that was pure poison on crows way out to past 40 yards.. It cycled the 3" action.. Good memories !!
  4. I remember that storm..... About a week prior we had a storm down here in the southern tier...Rather than go home early, I waited it out at my job at Corning Glass Works...I could not make it home that night in my 2WD pickup....I had to call a neighbor with his 4WD to get me home, and the next morning I was downtown in Addison shoveling out my truck on Main St... SOOO, a week later, when the SUPERSTORM was predicted, I told my boss I was NOT coming in to work and suffer the same fate... I sat home and watched all day as the sun shined, waiting for the IMMINENT storm to begin any minute...My boss never did let me live that one down.... The prick....
  5. I think A-5s are BEAUTIFUL, and they handle like a dream !! Never used one that I did not shoot well with ! You're probably one of those misguided souls who thinks that the TC Encore/Contenders are attractive..<<YUCK !!>>... Just jerkin' your chain...Beauty is truly in the eye of the beerholder....<<grin>>....
  6. The shotguns are all solid, vintage models...I have owned several of all 3...All great shotguns.. Never had much interest in the SKS, but that's just me....
  7. Yes, it IS possible to chamber and fire a .270 Win in a 30-06..Back when the .270 was introduced ( around 1925, I think) It wasn't considered necessary to " IDIOT PROOF " products for liability purposes.. However when the .280 Rem was introduced by Remington to compete with Winchester's .270, the shoulder was intentionally moved ahead a few thousandths so that it could not be chambered in the similar sized .270 OR a 30-06...
  8. That is a fine old shotgun , and chances are very high that it is choked mod/full, since it appears to have 28" barrels.. Yes, you should pattern it, mostly to make sure that it shoots to point of aim...16 gauge shells are not that hard to find and a good load of 1 1/8 oz of of # 6 or 7 1/2 lead shot should produce a good killing pattern out to 30 or 35 yards..
  9. I call The Mermaid....When I kill a deer I always take it up to my buddy's house to hang it and skin it, so I call her and let her know I'll be home late..She's not much interested in looking at dead critters until they're cooked and ready to eat.
  10. Is the wind blowing ?? You guys should move somewhere with a better climate.. It's been a little gusty down here in the hill country , but no biggie..
  11. Thanks, Grampy ! You are too kind...<<grin>>.....
  12. " Hey !! Joo wan' to buy a WATCH, Mon ?? I gotta a DOZEN here inside my coat, Mon !! Genuine ROLEX !! Only twenty five BUCKS, Mon !! "
  13. Where are you located, Dugan ?? Southern WNY covers a lot of real estate..
  14. I have a friend who lives in Florida and kills his limit of Osceolas with his recurve every year, and usually gets his limit in Georgia as well.. He has killed birds without a blind, but most of the time he uses a custom made blind that he sets up in the dark, often within flydown distance of a roosted gobbler.. He used a real taxidermied hen as a decoy and most of his shots are at 10 yards or less..
  15. Yup, I got it broadcast, Jeff.... Saw two flocks of snow geese heading south while I was spreading it... I walked around looking for sheds afterward, but didn't find any..
  16. I'm going to broadcast it tomorrow, before the ground thaws again.. With the cold weather of the last couple of days I should be able to get the truck up to the plot without rutting things up..
  17. Nice shots !! So who's the the ugly schmuck holding onto your antlers ?
  18. I called in my first gobbler with a Lynch World Champion....I bought mine in 1968, the same year I graduated from high school...It was made in Birmingham,Alabama and the paddle grip is hand carved rather than band sawed as the later ones are... I have retired it now..I have enough other calls to use to take the risk of losing it in the woods, sitting on it or otherwise damaging it...
  19. I am doing a big casserole of Lawdwaz's venison oven stew.... The recipe is on page 8 of this forum...
  20. Pygmy

    Zero

It's 8 here in Little Appallachia........ The ground should be firm enough so I can drive up and frost seed my food plot today or tomorrow.
  21. Well enough to tell you she WASN'T a natural blonde....<< smile>>.....
  22. Booger Bottom....Love the name, Grampy... Reminds me a girl I used to know.. She had this nervous habit of picking her nose and then wiping her hand on the seat of her pants..
  23. Yeah, the guy was even older than me, so he was no doubt getting somewhat SENILE at that time.. He's dead now, of course, God bless his soul...
  24. One more vote for the Lynch Foolproof... Some sound better than others, but I have never run one that did not sound good enough to call a turkey.. I bought mine in 1977...Back then they were packaged in a cardboard box rather than than a blister pac. The shop owner, Doug Henyan of Henyan Sporting Goods in Corning let me open all the boxes and run all of the calls and pick the one I liked the best... It cost me $17 and still is one of my best box calls..
