Only THREE pages so far..?.. When we get to SIX pages, it will be time to get Doewhacker and Steve 863 involved ...<<grin>>....

Welcome aboard, Tim !! Lots of good folks on this forum..I've been hanging out here for a couple of years now. There are a few misguided souls ( anyone who doesn't agree with me), but those differences of opinion make the forum more interesting. Your knowledge and sense of humor will be a great addition to the forum. I've been having LOTS of fun here...hehehehe... How are all our friends on the Harmony Ridge forum ? I haven't checked in there for a long time.

That looks great, Joe.. There ought to be lots of good places for you to use a blind, considering the big fields, pastures and edges around your area..

1000 acres plus is NOTHING when running fox or coyote... As far as you posting your land, I don't have a problem with it.. I post MY little parcel too, but I miss the old days, when it wasn't a federal crime to cross the neighbor's boundary line.. As far as somebody breaking into your cabin, I'd shoot the SOBs as soon as you would..
-
Yeah...Years ago I used to run fox hounds and coon hounds.... It got problematic when flatlanders bought up thier little 50 or 100 acre plots and posted them up against everyone... The critters run wherever they want and the hounds follow them... That's why I don't do it anymore...
-
Ease off, Larry... Growie just told me to be CAUTIOUS of guys like you.. My ex-wife was a leftie, so I have an AVERSION to those poor , wrong handed perverts...
-
I agree....Those evil coyote doggers should be SHOT for not taking the time to get permission to trek across private land to retrieve thier dogs... After all, you folks WANT more coyotes on your property, don't you ?
-
Phade..That's kind of what I had in mind.. It does sound like fun, except for the part where I reach for my WALLET...LOL... Fortunately, I have a couple of buddies who have permission to hunt the property that have offered to split the expenses..
-
Growie... I have a total of about 8 acres to plant, including the part I had previously planted to clover..I plan to continue (and renew) the clover, but I'd like to put in some other stuff too, and I'm open to suggestions..I've read a lot about brassicas/turnips/radishes, but I don't know much about them.. I worked on farms as a kid and have some basic knowledge about planting grain crops such as buckwheat, corn, wheat and oats..

It is old hayfield that has not had lime in YEARS and YEARS. We've kept it cut, but it's mostly goldenrod , mustard and other weeds. I did a soil test and the guy at Agway said it was about as lime-deficient as soil can get. Several people I talked to recommended the 2 tons per acre.
-
I took advantage of the relatively bare, frozen ground and had 11 tons of Hi mag lime spread today over about 5 acres..It adjoins another 3 acre plot that I had limed and planted to clover 3 years ago. I'll be picking the brains of you food plot gurus when it comes to fertilizing and planting. One of my neighbors is going to fit up the ground and plant for me as long as I pay the expenses.. He has more equiptment than me and his TRACTOR is bigger..<<smile>>...

Funny ! I had something similar happen once years ago. It was during bow season and my sister needed to borrow my truck to move some stuff...She swapped me her car, which was a red sportscar type rice rocket..I think it was a Toyota, not that it matters.. As luck would have it, I arrowed a buck that evening..I didn't dare put it in her car, so I drove to my neighbor's, and we took his truck to bring the deer home.

I have had several hams cured and smoked by local processors over the years. I don't know the details of how it was processed , compared to pork, but it was very good....

I'm still waiting for that rash of long range rifle related accidents that were predicted by so many doomsdayers when rifles were made legal for deer hunting in much of the southern zone , because rifle bullets travel so much farther than shotgun slugs. Perhaps they are just going to take a few more years to "develop"...

Joe... Sis and I enjoyed meeting you and your family... We saw a grouse along the road right after we left your place and then we saw a flock of turkeys a little north of Canton, heading for lunch at a farmer's pit silo. Glad you enjoyed the fish... We'll have to get out together in my boat sometime and you can catch your own...
-
LMAO....That was GREAT, Joe... Which one are YOU ??..
-
Thanks, Growie....Looking forward to seeing the little rascal...Last time I saw him was Christmas..Since then he has become much more mobil..He's not only walking, he's RUNNING and my daughter says that NOTHING in the house is safe...hehehehehe...

I'd love to follow you down, Paula, but I'm not sure I can keep UP on my 24" Schwinn...My training wheels are getting worn.. I did the " Tail of the Dragon" when I was in Tijuana in 1972... I wonder if CONSUELA is stiil there ? She was such a NICE girl...<<sigh>>.....

Fasteddie has Pat Brady and Nelly Belle right..Gabby Hayes starred in a lot of Roy's films.. He was from Hornell, NY, by the way. He played a real HAYSEED, but in real life was a very articulate man.. Roy's horse was named Trigger, and his dog was named Bullet.. His girlfreind was Dale Evans and her horse was named Buttermilk. Roy Rogers was my first TV hero.. Davy Crockett was a close second...

New Video: The Distraction
Pygmy replied to downwindoutdoors's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Nice videos ,boys... I see that you are shooting one of those EVIL ASSAULT RIFLES that have no valid sporting purpose...<<wink>>.. -
It is illegal in NY, but I am not sure about PA. Unlike NY, the State of Pa takes the individual's right to bear arms very seriously. Check out the regulation booklet or the Game Commission website,or ask the question to the Sherrif's Dept. when you call about getting your pistol permit. Then report back to us..That is your assignment for the weekend...<<grin>>...

My fiance's son rented one last year to knock down some brushy stuff that was too much for me to handle with my pull behind PTO finish mower... The machine worked well, but his 4 wheeler lacked the balls to pull it in a couple of xtra dense areas.
