Ya I’ll prolly be dead from heat stroke by mid week. The mill I work in is already hot enough without a heat wave. I should of taken the whole week off to avoid it. I can’t handle extreme heat at all, makes me sick as hell. I’ll take negative temps any day over 90+. Can’t wait for summer to be over, it’s my least favorite season by far!

I was really curious about these, thanks for sharing! The whole system sounds like a great idea, I just have had reservations on trusting cuddeback reliability. Keep us all updated on how they continue to work. Would sure like to just check the home cam in the yard without having to run the atv all around the property.

If it’s on a Friday or Saturday night that I have off I’ll be there. I work this weekend but have off next and it rotates every other weekend like that. But either way I’ll do my best to make it! Sounds like a good time. I haven’t tried that restaurant yet but I have heard good things. Looking forward to it!

So who's getting out this weekend for opening of bass season
Adkhunter1590 replied to JALA RUT's topic in Fishing
Where on Champlain? I'm headed up there around noon today to stay at my buddies camp for the weekend. Its on the south bay end of the lake. This will be my 3rd weekend up there in the month and a half, so far each time we go we've been doing quite well on the pike and bass. Caught a few good sized cats as well. If ya see a 17ft bass tracker with 3 guys doing more beer drinking than fishing thats probably us! haha! -
If you never hurt yourself or broke something by accident being young and dumb, you must of been a true lump on a log. My son got his head stuck between the rails on my FILs deck and I had to cut him out. Does that make my son a terrible kid and me a horrible parent? I didn't pay for the replacement rails either, how much worse does that make me?? Life is short, don't take it so serious, your not getting out of it alive! I find the girl stuck in the exhaust pretty funny. I've seen plenty of people stick their heads in those giant exhaust tips. That's the first person I've seen get stuck but still pretty funny.

I grew up camping ALOT with my family. We started with a pop up when I was real young, then on to a travel trailer, when we got heavy into MX racing we had a 30ft enclosed car trailer we built foldable bunks into for traveling the racing circuit. At the end we had a class A diesel pusher which was the ultimate way to travel but your talking $385k for that puppy. You really have to figure out how many people your expecting to be going with you to size up what kind of trailer you need. If kids or friends will be coming along you definitely want a bunk house. Somewhere in the 26-33ft length range. Next big thing is how much time do you plan on spending inside the camper. If you plan on long trips that could encounter days of crappy weather you’ll probably want a trailer with slide outs to give you more interior space to make things more comfy. You’ll add weight and complexity with slide outs but you’ll gain a lot of space. We had trailers with and without slides and I prefer ones with slide outs regardless of how much time we will spend in it. If your not expecting to much company you could look into a 5th wheel style which generally don’t have bunks, some do but it’s not nearly as common. They are usually setup more for couples and have a bigger “living room” style setup to them in the rear. They are also a lot nicer to pull down the highway on long trips compared to bumper pulls. But you lose the bed of your truck for storing things like firewood and such so there’s pros and cons to 5th wheel vs bumper pull. Generally the higher you go in price, you get higher quality materials. Stuff like faucets and sinks, fridges and such. I’d suggest going to a RV show and checking out all the campers so you can see the difference in price levels and manufacturers. You can spend a ton of money on these things and there’s unlimited amounts of floor plans. Buying left over models is a good way to save a ton of cash and even buying a couple year old one off Craigslist is a good way to go too. A lot of people buy these things, use them a handful of times and never use them again. So your chances of buying a very gently used one at a true bargain are very high. If your looking at ones that are getting up there in age you really need to check the roof and floor for leaks and soft spots. Don’t forget to check under the sinks and showers as well. The lower end models use mostly plastic faucets and hardware that are prone to breaks/leaks. Check the axles for upkeep like properly greased bearings and such. Awnings tend to take a beating sometimes so make sure there’s no rips and the frame arms fully operate, otherwise you’ll be spending a decent amount of money repairing them. Unless your pretty handy, I’d stick to something 5 years old or newer to avoid any major problems and repairs. No matter what one you buy, stuff is gonna break on these things. A lot of times it’s small stupid stuff but be prepared mentally for it. All the crappy bumpy roads send shock waves through everything so stuff is bound to come loose or break at some point or another. My parents $385k class A had stuff break, so the amount of money you spend means very little when it comes to these types of things. I don’t think anyone asked this yet but what are you planning on using for your tow vehicle? That will basically set the bar for what you can and can’t buy. You don’t want to overload your truck to the point of making it dangerous or illegal. These days the campers are so much lighter than years past which is awesome but you still need to be careful. A good weight distributing hitch and sway bars will cost you some coin but you’ll thank me later when you pull through a good wind storm. Little long winded there but hopefully I have you some stuff to think about. Like I said I’ve been around campers my entire life so I’ve learned quite a bit. Any questions let me know! Good luck and have fun camping!

RVs are great, until you want to explore the area and have no way to get around. Unless you tow another car behind it or drive a second vehicle your stuck at your campsite unless your gonna break camp and drive that monster around town to explore or pick up supplies. Unless you get a class A bus, you most likely won’t have a full size residential fridge, which means extended stays will be difficult without restocking the fridge. O and can’t forget that if your towing a car behind it, you can’t back up. This is my old mans setup. We traveled around out west for over a year in this thing. But without towing that Jeep, we wouldn’t of been able to go hardly anywhere. Unhook Jeep, park RV and go. Spent a few days in Moab rock crawling the Jeep.

Did they ever find that man that went missing in Thacher Park?
Adkhunter1590 replied to DirtTime's topic in General Chit Chat
Looks like they found him. Hikers find human remains off Indian Ladder Trail in Thacher State Park http://www.news10.com/news/local-news/hikers-find-body-off-indian-ladder-trail-in-thacher-park/1229761407 (Via WTEN News) -
I can relate to all this pretty well so I feel your pain man. But like everyone else said, it’s gonna get better and will only be a memory soon, maybe one that you both can look back on and laugh at some day. 2 weeks before my wedding my parents evicted me from the house I built on their property and then 1 week before my wedding I got a DWI and lost my job driving truck. My first son was 8 months old at the time so needless to say we were in a bad spot at the time. Broke, jobless and having to find a place to live and dealing with a DWI all days before our wedding was enough stress to make anyone have a mental break down. And trust me, I just about did. Even with my parents disowning me all because I wasn’t marrying the girl they wanted, we pulled closer together and dug ourselves out of the hole we were in. We had a damn good time at our wedding, even though my entire family listened to my evil mother and decided not to show. I got a good lawyer and had my DWI dropped to a parking ticket, a couple months later I got a job at the mill that pays over double what any trucking job ever would have paid me and then a year later we went on to buy our first house. Sometimes life throws some nasty curve balls, but in the end it works out most the time. Just keep your head up and hold on to your girl real tight and never give up!

The amount of time they spent looking, how slow they were to get there and the lengths the local sheriff went to keep willing volunteers from accessing the area and equipment was total BS. You won’t hear about all this in the news though, I’m getting my info directly from the families who are up there all day everyday living it. So I’m inclined to share their sentiments when it comes what’s actually happening at ground zero rather than any news reporting. I don’t think these families have any reason to all share the same feelings of how the “search and rescue” has been performed.

Most riders don’t look nearly far enough ahead. It’s common on everything 2 wheels. From MX racing, looking far ahead of you has been engrained in my head and it saved my butt a lot of times when I was riding on my street bikes.

Bunch of drama going on with those missing guides. From what I’ve read, the county sheriffs and other local agencies haven’t barely done a thing to find them. The families are distraught big time. The cops claim terrain is too rough and water is flowing to fast. But even the coordination of getting machines and people up to the area to even begin searches has been a total cluster F**k from what I’m being told. Different agencies promise man power and then haven’t shown up, etc. The owner of the guide school has been keeping us all updated daily with messages straight from the family members. They did find a boot and something else down river a bit, no body’s yet though. They say the water is slowing down and dropping each day as summer moves in, so hopefully they can find something soon.

Thank you. I think I shot myself in the foot on this one. I’m gonna have to really pony up to beat this one.

Glad to hear your liking your Titan! I’m really impressed with these new ones. Worlds better than the old body styles. It feels like a towing monster, really can’t wait to hook a heavy trailer on this thing and see what it’s got.

Haha never heard that one before, I like it! She took care of me later that night and made sure I knew how happy she was! [emoji12]

As most married guys figure out, keeping your wife happy is the only way to survive marriage. For her birthday this year I decided to be sure to make her happy since I fell short on the last couple of birthdays. She’s been driving our F150 for the last year or so as her daily driver because she likes trucks while I’ve been driving our Honda to commute to work. So I figured I’d kill two birds with one stone. Get my truck back, and get her her own truck. So I went truck shopping and picked up this 2016 Nissan Titan with the Cummins diesel! Was shopping for a new F150 but came across this Titan for a good deal and it has way more fancy interior features that would cost me over 60k in a F150. She was super surprised and excited about her new truck. Especially with all its gizmos and crap on the inside that our current F150 doesn’t have. No more listening to her complain she doesn’t have heated seats or navigation! Lol. I told her happy bday for the next 5 years for how much this present cost me! Haha. Now we need a camping trailer, these XDs are supposed to be great at towing and I’m looking forward to testing that out soon. Anyone else have one of the newer Titans? I had a 2005 Titan that was a great truck up till I got rid of it with 198k. Hoping this one gives us many years of reliable service

Unfortunately it’s a small world....one of those guys went to the same guide school I did in Montana. The owner of the school shared the news story on FB and said he’s a 2016 graduate. Hopefully they make it, if they don’t it wasn’t for the lack of survival training.

Fatal cougar attack in state of Washington
Adkhunter1590 replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
Looks like one of them attempted to fight back by hitting it with his bike. Also sounds like something was wrong with the cat as it was reported as being very under weight for its age. Will be interesting to see what they find after they test it. I seen plenty of cats in my time out west and they sure are some creepy animals. The way they will stalk you for miles will send chills down your back. I was always carrying weapons so I wasn’t too worried but it’s never a fun feeling when you find out you’ve been followed all day by a cat and you didn’t know about it until way later. -
I agree with the others. Pay a couple hundred bucks and have someone patch repair it for now since your planning a full tear off in a year. Insurance companies suck, the less claims you have the better. I was dropped by geico for a broken tail light a few years ago. Had them for over 10 years and my wife backs into another car in a parking lot and they drop me over the cracked tail light. I use Farm Family for all my insurance needs now. We have a homeowner/Farm combo to cover everything down to my new chicken coop. Liability for our egg sales and everything. And it’s cheap, about $1100 a year. Not sure if the wife’s cousin who’s our agent has anything to do with that but I don’t think I could get the amount of coverage we have any cheaper elsewhere.

Always loved mossbergs! The 500 won’t win any beauty contests but it’s reliable as hell! Good for them to stand up for our rights! While Dicks may not care to sell guns anymore, it’s a pretty big problem for F&S. I hope all the other manufactures out there follow suit and refuse to sell to them. Even though F&S is literally the only big hunting/fishing store we have here in Albany I wouldn’t mind seeing them close up their doors. It would only entice cabelas to step up and open a store here!

I love freaking people out when I take poison ivy and rub it on me haha. I’m apparently immune to it these days. Wasn’t when I was young but since my teens I haven’t gotten it ever again. I’ve hung tree stands in trees that were covered in poison ivy vines without even thinking twice just because it was a good tree. My buddy wouldn’t hunt it though because he gets it just by looking at it haha.

Bring your jumper cables with you and if you need a jump between 7-830am I’ll swing by and jump ya. I’ll be headed home from work and have to go that direction anyways. PM me if you need a jump, I’ll check my messages when I leave work. Good luck in the AM, hope it goes better than this morning
-
Haha ya it deff pissed me off. Especially when it was stopping me from being able to get it backed into the driveway. I got really hot about that. After 15 mins of back and forth I gave up and called for backup lol. Every time it would start to go the direction I needed the tire would roll and pretty much stop the rear end and push the front. After all this time and effort and a stupid tire wouldn’t let me park it in the driveway!
-
Had a little difficulty on the way home. Thank god it’s a short trip lol. The one tire I was unsure about bit the dust and went flat. Making it almost impossible for me to get it backed into the driveway along with the front steer axle. Had to call the neighbor and get the tractor over to finish pushing it in. Tomorrow I’ll take the flat off and swap it with another spare and that should take care of that problem. Going to clean out the inside and get to work on painting. At least it’s finally home!
-
Tomorrow the coop comes home! Will be headed over in the morning to button up some final things but the plan is to have it parked in my driveway by mid afternoon to begin inside painting. O and this showed up today[emoji51]. Can’t wait to install this bad boy tomorrow. Always wanted one of these slick auto doors since we first got chickens.
