Corona Virus Thread
steve863 replied to Al Bundy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Cuomo and DiBlasio together wouldn't know how to screw in a light bulb. DiBlasio had a news conference yesterday and was telling everyone that the virus could spread on the subway and then told everyone to avoid overcrowded subway cars. He said to wait for the next train if the train is overly crowded. One would be freakin waiting FOREVER to get onto a subway car that wasn't overcrowded. They are all like cattle cars. He's finally now figuring out that subways are overcrowded?? What a genius!! -
Corona Virus Thread

Seems like the whole world is freaking out over this to me and that would have little to do with the democrats in the U.S. Like I said in a previous post, I couldn't imagine what would happen to this planet if something truly serious hit it. People would be murdering each other for a roll of stinking toilet paper. Lead wrapped in brass will be our only defense from the kaos. -
Jeez, you guys must be using an old sock soaked in salt water for a gun case if your guns are starting to rust in less than an hour!
-
How can a gun rust badly enough in an hours time to need rebluing?? Rust can start forming quickly but I can't see it doing any significant damage in an hour.

Corona Virus Thread
steve863 replied to Al Bundy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
No one is saying that it's a hoax, only that humanity shouldn't be freaking out the way they are over this. People die every minute of the day of all sorts of ailments and will continue to with or without the corona virus. -
Corona Virus Thread
steve863 replied to Al Bundy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This corona virus has got to be the biggest global paranoia I've ever seen in my 56 years of life. I just can't believe how the world is freaking out over this. If 20%, 30% or 40% of those who contract it were dying maybe I'd be worried, but the percentage is nowhere close to those numbers. I couldn't imagine if something truly serious hit this planet. It would without a doubt be doomsday for humanity. The panic alone would wipe out half the earths inhabitants. Unbelievable! -
Only way I will ever be dangling from a rope is if they finally decide to hang me (by the neck). LOL
-
They could have walked in draped in flags and whistling yankee-doodle-dandy, it still wouldn't have changed his mind about any one of them. Then he'd probably be pointing out how disrespectful they were to the flag.
-
Where did you hear that they didn't want flags at the debate? Aren't the debate stages set up by the TV networks that broadcast them so it may not be all up to the candidates. The democrats may not believe in the America you or I may want, but it's to their benefit to stand behind the American flag and I don't think most democrats would say that they don't wouldn't want to stand by it. See the video below of Hillary's speech at the 2016 Democratic convention. Tell us that you aren't seeing any American flags there?? You may not think she represents what America should be, but obviously plenty of others do.

Alleged Mountain Lion Trail Cam Pic from Ulster
steve863 replied to Rattler's topic in General Hunting
Are mountain lions the “cat” in “Catskills”? Unclear. Leslie T. Sharpe in The Quarry Fox: And Other Critters of the Wild Catskills considered the question. The mountain range was apparently named after the creek, but how the creek got its name is lost. Did an early settler see a mountain lion drinking from its waters one day? Or more likely, a bobcat? I'm getting a kick out of this paragraph in the link. A settler seeing a mountain lion drinking from a creek? It was more likely the settler drinking some sort of spirit from a jug when he saw that cat!! LOL -
As usual you see it only from your perspective. Both sides are obstructionists. If you think they aren't then you are letting your bias blind you. Trump is the instigator-in-chief, if if it wasn't Russia or impeachment he would have rattled the cage in some other way to bring the focus of the attention to himself. That is what he wants way more then finding solutions to a real problem like healthcare in this country. Look at it this way, if Trump don't do anything to address healthcare, sooner or later we will once again have a democrat/liberal in office and then they will take matters into their hands just like Obama tried to do. I'm sure many of you will not like what they will have in mind. Bush Jr. didn't do anything to address the rising cost of healthcare and that then led to Obamacare. The same or worse will happen with Trump not addressing matters now. Healthcare is a very real problem, costs are getting high and it won't be long before employers won't even provide it just as pension plans have become a thing of the past. Ignoring it WON'T fix the problem.
-
One of Trumps campaign promises was that he would dismantle Obamacare and fix the healthcare system because in his words it was a "disaster". Without giving specifics he claimed that he would fix the system like never before and that everyone would have affordable insurance. What has he done to fix it? I know that my insurance rates are going up every year just the same as under Obama and the coverage I get for the high cost gets worse every year also. Maybe Obama's idea sucked but Trump has done nothing so far to help fix it like he promised. Maybe if he didn't waste as much time on the petty fights, nonsense, and tweeting in the middle of the night he might find some free time to address the issue.

Why were you so shocked? Just because you haven't gotten into accidents don't mean they can't happen no matter how safely we drive. With all the cars on the road these days and with all the reckless drivers, either incompetent, drunk, high or texting while they're driving chances are good something might happen sooner or later. i would say no more than $5K in damages and no way that car should get totaled.

I'll let you look up the Helsinki news conference where Trump downplays American intelligence and said he believes Putin as just one example. Trump has been kissing Putin's butt long before he got elected. Trump has an affinity for corrupt individuals. How many respectable people have you heard say nice things about Trump after having worked for him? Like the saying goes, if a person gets thrown out of a bar once or twice, it might be the bars fault. If one gets thrown out 50 times it probably the person who is the problem.
-
Yeah, Trump is supposed to be so anti-communist yet he would sooner pal around and give accolades to Putin than he would to a leader of one of our allies. Go figure that one out? Trump throughout his life preferred to pal around with the dirty tricksters (i.e Roger Stone) and then he is supposed to be the one to drain the swamp? That's laughable. The folks he likes to deal with and pardons are as bad as any he wants to drain from the swamp.

Jeez, I'd be afraid to pick that turkey up if it were still flopping around after I shot it. Might gouge my eyes out! LOL -
If you think there aren't nasty things going on in a good percentage of restaurants of any ethnic persuasion I've got some news for you.
-
OK, maybe he can get you to convince her.

When one has a wife and kids it's not all about yourself and your own interests. Like others have said, cruise ships are famous for spreading virus' amongst passengers, so right now may not be a good time to go.
-
I guess I'm kind of slow, so I too just learned about a new holiday I never knew about here on the forum! Isn't March 14 the same day as Culver's QDMA banquet? Damn, the fellas attending might miss out. Don't know if potentially winning a rifle would make up for it??
-
I wouldn't care if my son was 15 or 35. He'd get a good, firm kick in the butt from me if he ever got a tattoo like that. Possibly several good kicks.
-
I always tell my wife and kids that I don't need or want any material gifts. The best gift they could give me is to just leave me the hell alone at least for a little while once in a while!

You will have two arrogant, pompous dumbass know it all's from different sides of the political spectrum in the same room together. There will be plenty of hot air spewed. Hopefully no one lights a match or the white house might explode. With that said, I wish that the Fed's would be waiting for Cuomo at the door of the white house to cuff and arrest him for violating federal law by harboring illegal immigrants in his state and even issuing them drivers licenses. It is time that Federal law be followed by these sanctuary states and cities and someone needs to be made an example of. What is the purpose of establishing national laws if various state and cities won't follow them? It would be great if we had a more honest president in the white house at the moment to enforce such laws. It would carry much more weight than someone like Trump enforcing them who himself wouldn't bat an eye at ignoring laws.

My kids are still fairly young, but if I get wind that they got a tattoo or want one while under my roof I will NOT be a happy camper to say the least.

NYT: Deer Overpopulation Meets Its Match: Women Who Hunt
steve863 replied to left field's topic in Deer Hunting
I have yet to run in into all these women hunters. There may be a few out there that will tag along with their husbands or boyfriends but the numbers aren't high from what I can tell. A 30% decrease from 1 million male hunters can be a significant number, but a 30% increase from a small population of existing women hunters is not very significant. We are still at a considerable net loss in total hunters.
