Listen to what Culver tells you. I've seen his cabin. It's rustic and an engineering marvel all wrapped in one!!
-
Of course they obviously allow it, but I still think the DEC is talking from two sides of their mouth with so many statements they make. Them considering food plots a "bona fide agricultural practice" is funny in itself. How many people eat the stuff they put out in their food plots for deer? LOL Maybe they could make a nice salad out of it for dinner.
-
Yes, baiting is illegal, but I was talking about feeding wildlife in general. Read this and tell me where they say that food plots are OK while other type of feeding isn't ? I didn't read about any distinctions here. Whatever is said about feeding animals in this DEC statement can surely be applied to food plots also. http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/74763.html
-
Yeah, I've read DEC statement telling people not to feed wildlife, yet food plots are allowed? So which is it? Leave it up to the DEC to give you two different answers to one question.
-
Congratulations for being one of the very few who plant food for deer on land they don't hunt on. I will disagree with you on the baiting part, however. You may not be baiting since you don't hunt the land, but those who do hunt on land they plant on I absolutely would consider it baiting. Again, I have nothing against food plots, but you are planting food that wouldn't be there if you didn't plant it, so how can this not be considered an easy meal for deer that they could become accustomed to? I guess there is a stigma to the word "baiting" and some of you don't want to be associated with it, but in reality it is all very much the same thing.
-
My opinion has always been that food plots are baiting. Now, I have absolutely nothing against food plots, but lets call it what it really is. I know people who plant food plots will argue that it's not baiting and give me the story that they do it to help the deer, but how many would plant food for the deer if they didn't hunt? The answer is few to none.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but if you were comfortable in PA, why on earth move to NYS?

Your wife is pregnant again? Don't you have 3 sons already??

What Could or Possibly Also May Be in your Hunting Area

I got some photo evidence for them. Took this two summers ago in PA. -
OP has been spotted on Madison Avenue in the city trying to get a model to pose with him for a picture he could post here. So far NO luck. He's getting desperate to save face.
-
Don't forget numerous folds for concealed carry on her. A very valuable girl. She can carry one for her, you, granny, and several cousins too,
-
That pic was taken last year during their vacation in the Bahamas. Flooded the fancy hotel they were staying at when she got into the pool.
-
Hold up, I found her!!
-
Maybe he's making her up? Like that college football player a few years back who was boasting about a girlfriend he never had.
-
We got a lot of good hunting in on his property following his "Team Legend" threads in the past, that's for sure. He tells us when he's there and when he's not. Funny how Bert hasn't figured this out yet?
-
LOL. Yeah, he's a heck of a nice guy, but I think I'd trade the buck I shot at his place for an evening with a young lady that looks like that. I am faithful to my wife, but like I said, at least once in my life could I be so lucky. Then she (my wife) could shoot me, stab me, etc. I think I'd be OK with any weapon choice to deliver me the death blow at that point. LOL
-
I'm getting too old to ever think I could be so lucky to share hunting camp with someone like that. I guess I could only hope and then I could go ahead and die. My life would be complete. LOL
-
I think there are two unknowns here. So far we have NO proof that she is "pretty" or that the OP is a "good" hunter. She could have gotten the deer and a bushel of apples by winking at some homely farm boy who would consider Rosie O'Donnell a good catch. And the OP does claim to have 2 deer so far, but who is to say they weren't picked up road kills? LOL

Killed while walking her dogs at 5:30, that's dark
steve863 replied to Curmudgeon's topic in General Hunting
I do not take the death of this woman lightly or am minimizing this shooters negligence, and it is a big story, but I still think that this particular incident is being sensationalized way more than other hunting shooting deaths. Yeah, I get CNN being typically biased, but why is this story bigger than others? I honestly think the NYS DEC has had a hand in sensationalizing this, which won't be helping NYS hunters or hunters anywhere. -

I would agree with you here, Grow. He made a very, very bad decision here to pull the trigger, but I somehow get the hunch that he isn't a demon of a human being since he himself dialed 911 to call for help. -

Is this true?? I can't believe that there are too many coyote hunters hunting at night with a .17 centerfire? Just doesn't sound right to me. Most coyote hunters will be using .22 or .243 centerfires in most other hunting circumstances. And they would both be LEGAL for deer also in NYS. -

I'm not saying that the shooter is not worthy of a manslaughter charge here, but it really seems to me that the DEC (Seggos) and the media are making this a VERY big story. Much bigger than other hunting type accidents. It even got headline attention on the CNN website. This can't be good for ANY of us hunters in any shape or form. No matter how much we hunters may condemn this guy for shooting, we will somehow be guilty just because we are also hunters. Very unfortunate. -

Sure is, but we've got things under control! Sincerely, The Cartwright boys -
I love this statement! LOL Oh the travesty of getting up at 5am! And I guess that's only on the days you hunt? I have no problem getting up at 4am EVERY morning, so I guess that makes YOU lazier than me! LOL

couldn't resist this 742 BDL for $350
steve863 replied to eagle rider's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I'm not exactly sure what the problem you are describing here is, but can the gun fire and eject a spent shell? I don't know if $350 was a good deal if the gun may need to have the barrel removed? That's going to cost some money if you need to take it to a gunsmith.
