Probably not with his wife/girlfriend. At least not on that bed. LOL

What's the coolest thing you found in the woods?
steve863 replied to helmut in the bush's topic in General Chit Chat
Was this gun found on Growalot's property? She's been known to capture trespassers and jail them in her dungeon for years and years. If it was on her property you were trespassing also, so look out if she ever finds out who you are! -
That's the way to get it done!! Maybe you can meet up with Burt, his bro, and his buddies out there on LI and give them some shooting lessons! LOL
-
No it's not. A notary in NYS may charge a fee of $2.00. But cannot exceed that amount. I am a notary myself, so I would know.
-
Yes, a notary is a notary.
-
Most banks have a notary on staff. Many real estates do also. Every lawyer can notarize also.
-
Burt, you saw all those deer and none of you connected?? Man, if I was a deer I'd want to be hunted by you guys. Odds would be great that I wouldn't end up hanging on a meat pole! LOL

Liver and onions ....talk to me
steve863 replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
Last time I ate liver I think I was about 8 or 9 years old. We were heading to my uncles house after our meal and the whole way there I could feel my stomach turning. Just as we got to his house out of my mouth came the liver right on my uncles doorstep. True story. Makes me sick just thinking about liver to this day. -
It needs to be 12 years old for gun. The best way for a kid to possibly draw some blood is with a gun. Thinking that a 12 year old will kill a deer with a bow is wishful thinking at best.

Installed new trigger spring on my Savage Axis
steve863 replied to grampy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
That's what I always felt about the Accu-triggers and just another reason I dislike them. Many will claim that the trigger is the best thing since sliced bread, but all it is, is a lawyers trigger. Pretty soon guns won't go off unless you stand on your right leg, pat your head with your left hand, while pulling the trigger with your right. Of course the trigger will have to read your fingerprints first! LOL We should be careful what we like and wish for. -
Chops to be busted and plans to be made...

I thought someone said that he was standing on a chair for that picture? LOL -
That's what they claim. I personally think ANY rifle one buys today will be more than accurate to kill any game walking. That extra fraction of accuracy I might get out of a Savage won't convince me to buy one. They've got to be the homeliest hunting rifles ever made.
-
I tried pulling that trigger on that Savage of yours, and have to admit it was one of the heaviest triggers I've ever felt on a gun.
-
Remington doesn't make the 770 anymore. They now make the 783, which is supposed to be much better, although I don't think they come in left hand models. Again, it has the barrel nut, accu-type trigger, ala the Savage Axis, Ruger American and several others which is not something I care for. I would think if your daughter has shot guns with a normal trigger, the accu-trigger would feel very different to her. Especially, if she then goes back to hunting turkey or small game with a shotgun which will have a normal style trigger. I think the change in trigger feel might be a bit too confusing for a youngster, especially. https://www.remington.com/rifles/bolt-action/model-783/model-783-scoped

I've seen Remington 700's sold for less than $500, so that is a gun that shouldn't be overlooked either. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Remington-ADL-Bolt-Action-Rifle-and-Scope-Combos/1368627.uts?slotId=0
-
Not to say that a rifle with a barrel nut won't work or shoot well. I personally just don't like the look of them, and I am more of a traditionalist when it comes to how a gun should be made if I am to buy it.
-
If you want a rifle that is made in the traditional way without barrel nuts holding the barrel to the receiver and a bolt that doesn't have 100 parts to it like the Savage and other economy priced guns, or the lame accu-trigger type trigger, I would highly recommend a Howa. They are made in Japan, but Howa is the company that makes the Weatherby Vanguard, so what you'd be getting here is a Vanguard without the Weatherby name on it. This gun will last a lifetime. Has a proven track record and better quality than the Savage, Ruger, Remington economy models. https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/280/products_id/719005089/Firearms/Rifles/Howa/LEG HOG/PANMX 7MM08 22 BLK 5/

The beauty of this forum is that there are a few people here that take us to a different realm. Another dimension. Their posts take us into the abyss. Sort of like entering the twilight zone. -
And Four Seasons hasn't chimed in yet. Maybe he'll say that the 99% of the hunters out there whose only reason for hunting is to kill that big antlered buck eat quiche for breakfast?

Dodge is short for D-isl-ODGE. LOL

Ideas on how new York can increase land access for hunting .
steve863 replied to Hunter007's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
No kidding!! The state could care less if hunters have a hard time finding private land to hunt. They sell hunting licenses one way or the other. No way in hell will the state give up tax money just so that landowners open up land to hunters. Plus, how would they prove that landowners are indeed allowing hunters to hunt? The landowner could say that he let Joe and Jim Shmo hunt the land, and Joe and Jim Shmo could be the landowners cousins or best friends who he let hunt his land all along. You think the state will do checks on who is related to who or who might have hunted the land before? You think the state is willing to give up tax money for situations like this? NO way would this ever work! -
So it's OK to put your sausage inside the quiche? Just want to get this right.

How many types of game animals have you hunted in your life
steve863 replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
Checkmate on Biz! We want to see some skin and nothing less. Both front and rear views please. -
Did you even look at the results in the states I mentioned?? If he lost PA and Michigan he would have not gotten to 270 electoral votes. Some of you are unreal. Facts could be staring you in the face, yet you see only what you want to see. Although, I should know better and not expect much else from many of you, so go ahead and debate yourselves.
-
Really? Check out the margin of victory in the states that put him over the the top like Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Florida. Some of these states typically go democrat. The margin was might small. A few people decide not to vote at all and he may lose these states next time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2016
