I have a relative with a Ford 150 and I think the only thing he hasn't had replaced on it is the steering wheel. LOL

I really want to see how this is going to work. Does anyone have a link to the full requirements of how one is to get this free college tuition? So the family income needs to be less than $125K? Well $125K is not a small number and these people are not even close to the poverty line. So Cuomo is expecting me to believe that a family earning lets say $115K per year, maybe own a house, have a decent amount in their savings and 401K will be given free college tuition for their kid(s) in state or city colleges? I call BS to that! I bet it won't happen. There just has to be a lot of fine print on who will really qualify for this. I'm sure the only people who will get anything here are the same ones who milk the system already in numerous different ways. I can't see a hardworking family who earns even $80K getting anything free here. This is all a BS scheme for Cuomo to win his third term. The only thing the hardworking middle class will get is the shaft as always and nothing more here!

Grow, you need to ask Biz. I think he's got some good pie recipes. LOL

Where is this? Is this a dump where they dispose road killed deer? That werewolf coyote looks like he is wearing sheeps clothing. The perfect camo to stalk up on sheep. Looks like Wile E Coyote in the bugs bunny cartoons! LOL The other coyote looks as big as a wolf! Man, these things are growing bigger an bigger all the time

My Dream Rifle Shoots Like A Dream!

Not sure, but Grampy says it was wrapped in some girly looking purple shag that had some weird stains on it. -
I have no real need for a truck, but my Subaru Outback lasted me 18 years without a single major repair. Oil changes, a couple of brake jobs, on my third set of tires and that is it! Finally getting rid of it, just because I want something new, and another Subaru it will be. Have another Subaru in the family that is going on year 24!! From my experience the people I know that have owned Japanese vehicles simply have less headaches with them compared to those who own American brands. So I will stick to buying what appears to be the better product.
-
I always get a kick out of these truck threads. Guys claiming that Ford is better than Chevy, or Dodge is better than both, yet everyone seems to give a laundry list of repairs they've had to make. Get a Toyota or Nissan and you'll be driving while the other American trucks will be in the shop needing repairs! LOL I get the "buy American" thing, but if I'm coughing up $50 grand for a truck, I want something that will last a while and from all reports (these threads included), buying the American truck will not give you that.

I like Damascus but definitely not the gut hook that yours has. I don't like sharp edges on both sides of the knife. I'd probably gut myself sooner or later pulling it out of it's sheath.

My Dream Rifle Shoots Like A Dream!

I did understand what you were saying. I can see the Optilocks being a bit more secure than what he has, but the dovetail grooves on the rifle still don't give you much beef to tighten down on nonetheless. I guess we'll probably go with these, since there doesn't seem to be too many options available. Just as an FYI, here's a video of the Ruger system. Be it that the Sako is quite a bit more expensive and overall considered a better quality rifle, but I know I'll never be convinced that the Sako mounting system is better than the Ruger. Ruger makes it simple and foolproof, with very few parts to it, yet rock solid. -

His are definitely NOT Optilocks. His gun is a little older model, that he bought used but the gun was like brand new with a box with barely a shot fired thru it. But the scope mounting system is the same as the gun pictured here. We've been considering trying the Optilocks with the bases, but they seem a little bulky and high in my opinion have a bit too many parts to them. At about $150 they are not cheap either. The dovetails on the Sako's just don't look very strong to me. Not much beef on them for a high powered rifle. Actually they don't seem much beefier than a rimfire rifle that comes with dovetails for scope mounting. If you compare them to the much cheaper Ruger M77 rifle, which also has a built in scope mounting system, the recess on the Ruger system gives you WAY more beef to tighten down the screws. I actually have a Ruger with that scope mounting system that I hadn't fired in over a dozen years. I took it to the range last year and the point of impact didn't move a hair. Nailed the bullseye with the very first shot. Like I said, I think the Sako's finally addressed the problem with their latest rifles that are drilled and tapped for more traditional scope mounting. I must have not been the only one with complaints about it. Otherwise Sako makes a great rifle. -

What type of scope mounts do you have on your rifle? Are those the original Sako mounts that clamp on to the dovetail that is built in to the action? I can't really tell by enlarging the photos. My uncle has a Sako Finnbear and we've had a hell of a time keeping that rifle in zero from one year to the next with the original mounts. Need to try something else, but there aren't too many good options for Sako's. One BIG negative I find on a rifle of this quality and price range is their scope mounting system. Those dovetails are pitifully small for a high powered rifle, and the the action doesn't come drilled and tapped. I think the latest model Sako's do come drilled and tapped, which tells me that Sako finally woke up on this issue. -
OK, excuse me then. I think it's a bit "girly" nonetheless. But that's OK, we live in the state of New York, and in this state one is allowed to even use the bathroom of the gender they consider themselves to be. LOL

Wasn't going to go there, but isn't Moog the guy who has the bed of his truck lined in pink velvet? Or was that Phade? I guess it don't matter they are always "hunting" together anyway! LOL

Any caliber good for deer is good enough for black bear. Unless you simply want another rifle I don't think a new one needs to be purchased just for this one hunt.

Cruise Missles Launched
steve863 replied to greg54's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I don't think Rand Paul has any beef here, whatsoever. Presidents have many times used military actions without congressional approval. A declaration of war needs congressional approval, but not a military action like the one last night. -
The Trump supporters will be in for a mighty big wake up call very shortly. It's funny to see how some of them are already irate over Trump launching the missiles at Assad last night. Some are starting to feel that Trump isn't exactly keeping his word, which in my opinion will only get worse. Politicians are liars, and Trump is definitely NOT the run of the mill politician, but he is no less a first class liar and always has been. Just wait and see if Bannon and Priebus are indeed sent packing. Anyone notice how his son-in-law Kushner is becoming more influential in his administration by the day? And Kushner is in NO conservative by any stretch of the imagination neither. Time will tell, but PT Barnum aka Donald Trump may have suckered a quite a few people on his way to the presidency! I realize there wasn't much of an option with Hillary, but don't say that you haven't been warned!

Someone doing or making something with antlers is a far cry from really caring whether they shoot a trophy sized deer or not. Even native Americans and anyone else who hunted thru the ages made items like buttons and utensils out of antler bone. Did these people really aim to shoot a deer with the biggest antlers when they went out to hunt?? No way. All they cared about was putting a deer down for food. Anything else that the deer provided like skins and bone was also used. Why would they waste it? There are still people hunting today with the same philosophy. This surely doesn't make them "trophy" hunters or obsessed with antlers like some of you others seem to be just because they might use antlers for various purposes.

You will need a manicure and pedicure. Biz gets them all the time, so he can give you pointers on where to get this done in the big apple. Teeth are always a problem for you upstate fellas. That's why Biz always smiles on the pics he posts of himself. He wants to show off to you upstate boys who have dental deficiencies.

What I don't understand is why some group like the NRA or other NYS or NYC pro-gun group hasn't taken such BS to court to test the constitutionality of such nonsense? When everyone else can take their stinking pistols from one area of the state to another, or even out of state, why are NYC handgun owners restricted to keeping them ONLY within the 5 boroughs? You practically can't even take it out of your house for crying out loud without a special pass! Why would anyone even go thru the process of getting a pistol permit in the city if you are barely allowed to pull it of your safe to clean it? Makes absolutely NO sense to me that no one has taken this BS to court. Obviously if no one is to challenge the bastards who run the city, they will keep adding more an more restrictions on gun owners to the point where NO one will be allowed to own anything more deadly than a paperclip. I realize that there are relatively few gun owners in the city in comparison to the total population, but when more and more places are passing legislation to loosen gun laws, why isn't NYC's feet being put to the fire? The NRA most especially is supposed to be this great defender of EVERYONE'S 2nd amendment rights, but in my view they have completely dropped the ball with NYC gun owners.

Always fascinating around here how people pick and choose what they want to read and believe. Like I said, it will be interesting to see how these trips pan out and if he continues to go down there just about every weekend. But if he does he will surpass Obama's tab awfully quick. Probably in less than a year compared to Obama's 8 years. http://fortune.com/2017/02/22/trump-security-mar-a-lago-cost-taxpayers/

What about the flights to Florida every weekend? So far it seems like he goes down each and every weekend. Say what you want about Obama, Bush, Clinton, the last few presidents, but I don't remember them flying off somewhere every weekend just to get away from the White House. These trips have got to be costing millions upon millions. Time will tell how this all pans out. And what's up with Donald and Melania? I can understand her wanting to be in NYC until the boy finishes up the school year, but it sure looks to me like their relationship is as cold as Lake Erie in January. Hell, they look less in love than Bill and Hillary. Maybe they are still together just for show? Maybe she's getting too old for the Donald and he wants someone younger again?

It didn't have a built in calculator neither. Notice the left big toe of the little girl next to her sticking up. That was the extra toe/finger Grow needed to figure out the math problem the teacher just gave them. It also appears that there is a boy with his head down on the desk in the very last row behind the other four boys. I think that's Pygmy taking his nap.
-
Attached is a photo of the game warden when he attended grammar school. He's the big boy with his legs crossed. I guess we shouldn't expect much from the poor devil. The other kids in the photo are all forum members here. That's Growie in the first row with the note pad.

Need some help pretty quick if you know your guns.
steve863 replied to First-light's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I've had so many opportunities to buy old guns over the years, but never cared to buy any. Just never made sense to waste my time with them. Even if I could have sold them for $200 to $300 more than I paid for them it surely wouldn't have been worth the time looking for a buyer and taking the time to show them the guns, etc. And like Lawdwaz said these days you need to go to a FFL for the transfer which will kill another couple of hours at least. I am not a dirt rich guy, but killing a couple of days to make a lousy $200 is not something I am interested in doing. To each their own. -
To each their own, but to me it seems a bit premature to buy a 4 year old a lifetime hunting license. We need to remember that not everyone grows up to be a hunter, even those who grew up in a hunting family. You just can't force it on anyone. If they show interest in it when they are of hunting age then by all means buy it for them then, even if it cost more then. I am also quite reluctant to give the state of NY any of my money in advance for something like hunting privileges that are 10 years or more down the road. Hell, this state would prefer we didn't own any guns at all, so why am I to believe that my kid will be allowed to own a gun or hunt years down the road? I'm far from convinced thus they ain't getting any of my money at this point.
