Squirt some dishwashing liquid down the barrel and then pour boiling water thru it. Work a few patches thru it and repeat if necessary. Works better than any solvent that you can buy and it costs next to nothing.

Guess the friendship is over
steve863 replied to Water Rat's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Donald has his hand on Hillary's a$$ and Bill has his hand on Melania's. I think Bill is getting the better deal here, but it appears that both guys are just doing what they do best! -
Browning makes most of their guns in Japan. Weatherby used to make the Mark V in Japan also. If anything, I would think quality control is considerably better in Japan than in the US. I know I will piss many people off by saying this, but I also believe Japanese designed cars are better than American, so being made in Japan would certainly not turn me away from the product.

Howa is a Japanese company, not Chinese.

Are you putting the Ruger M77 in your garbage category or just the Ruger American? I would disagree with you on the M77. Yeah, they use casting to make the actions, but I would like someone to show me one that blew up all on its own because it was made using the casting process? Other than someone blowing it up because they did something stupid with it, I can't imagine the M77 action being much weaker than any other. I don't think even the Ruger American is a bad rifle, other than for it's trigger which is much like the Savage's accutrigger which I would NEVER want on a hunting rifle. Yeah, I hear all the stories of how light a pull you can get with them, but all they are is a cheap substitute to what a good trigger pull should feel like in a more traditional style trigger. These triggers are the sole reason I would not recommend Savage, Ruger American or any other brand that uses the accu-style trigger. The rifles themselves are perfectly fine, but the triggers aren't. At least for me they wouldn't be.

Where did you read that they both use Howa actions? I don't think that is the case. I know Weatherby does, but Tikka looks to be a completely different action. I've always liked the Howa/Weatherby guns. I'd bet they weigh a bit more than Tikka's, but they are nice guns nonetheless.

Yeah, they usually don't require people to remove their pants to have their tonsils removed, but I think the nurses wanted a good laugh today. LOL
-
Are you sure you got the right part FIXED? When a wife tells her husband to get FIXED, it often involves something other than tonsils.

Deer cart: Muddy Mule or Hawk Crawler
steve863 replied to Core's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Ah OK. I don't think I've ever heard that as a reason to continue to drag for 9 hours, but if you like to see them hanging, then keep on dragging! LOL Ain't my back that will be complaining. -

Wouldn't it have made way more sense to skin and quarter him and carry it out in a backpack? 2 miles isn't a great distance to walk, so even if you had to make a couple of trips back and forth it still wouldn't have taken you 9 hours. I've been an idiot myself a few times where I practically killed myself trying to drag one out. I finally smartened up with the last big one I killed and it was really no problem quartering him out in the field. It works even better when you've got some snow on the ground to keep things nice and clean. Even if you have to leave a few scraps of meat in the field in comparison to butchering one hanging back home, it definitely beats a 9 hour drag! -
Trump is finished. I just love how some of you clowns continue to defend him. I reckon he could sleep with your wives or mamas and you'd still vote for him. Just wait until tomorrow's debate. He will be publicly tar and feathered. He is debating a woman and one of the moderators is a woman, and the other is a gay guy. And there will be women in the audience asking him questions and ready to stone him. If he ain't done yet, he will be after the debate.

Do gun laws make us safe?
steve863 replied to NFA-ADK's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I agree with you 100%. When you went into a gun shop in those days you saw hunting guns, target guns and some handguns for personal defense. When you walk into a gun shop these days it looks like you've walked into a military or police armory. It seems like younger gun owners prefer the "Rambo" image over the image of sportsman of yesteryear. I surely can't change these people's minds, but they shouldn't think for a minute that the rest of society will be accepting of their preferences. -
Correction, the outfitter does mention the application deadline as March 15, so again, how would you be able to hunt this year? Can a license be transferred from that group member who can't go to you? I would find that highly unlikely.
-
I've hunting in Montana 5 times, be it 20+ years ago and back then there were deadlines in applying for a license. It looks like there are still deadlines and they are long past, so I don't know how you'll be able to hunt there this November? I don't see anything on the outfitters website mentioning licenses which is a bit unusual especially in a state where there are application deadlines. That right there would make me a little suspicious of this outfitter. http://fwp.mt.gov/hunting/licenses/buyApply/appDeadlines.html

Moron Wildlife Occupied Arrested

My apologies, you were the first to post a link to it, but Curmudgeons stood out since his had the visual. You did give a "like" to Bubba to the statement he made about what the eyewitnesses said, so does this video change your view any? That is the bigger question here. -

Please stop the nonsense. Why didn't he get out of the vehicle with his hands up to only "discuss" things the first time when he was stopped at the beginning of the video if he didn't want things to escalate? If you were a cop and and you saw someone doing what he did you would have shot too. Most especially since he ran off after the initial stop. You guys are trying to pull things out of your butts to justify things here. And I am not one to defend the black kid in Ferguson neither, so you fellas don't need to call me an unpatriotic liberal as you typically would people who don't agree with you. I would have shot the black kid in Ferguson, just as I would have shot Lavoy in this incident. Case closed, and I don't care whose lives matter more. -

You are full of it. You "liked" Bubbas post, now you are trying to clear your name here. I've told you numerous times to go find a country that has more freedom than this one. Even with all these rights you think have been taken away from you, we still have way MORE rights than any nation under the sun. Good luck in your search. I suspect you will remain here in this nation and continue to only bitch like an old woman. -

Yeah Bubbs, the video proves this doesn't it?? Why didn't your eyewitnesses mention that he was reaching into his coat for something? How convenient to forget such things when they want to sucker you guys into believing them. Funny how you, VJP, Papist, Philo haven't said $#!+ since Curmudgeon posted that video this morning. Do you now still feel that the law was at fault for filling him up with holes? They knew these guys were armed, right? There was little doubt about that since these guys brandished guns from the get go. I absolutely love it that there is video proof to prove all you conspiracy theorists WRONG here!! If it had somehow proven you right you would have been all over the video like flies on you know what. Now there isn't a peep out of you. You guys would have stretched this crap out for years like you have with Waco and Ruby Ridge. Now it looks like the air has been taken out of your balloons doesn't it? Hahaha, boy this made my day today!! -
Happy Birthday Wooly! You are the only true hunter/naturalist on this forum! No surprise at all (at least to me) that your birthday is one day after Jesus'!

Don't forget about the copper tubing they can't get to in the hunting cabins with the flatlanders occupying them for a few weeks.
-
No way does that look like a 400 lbs bear to me.

Enjoy the wormies, too!! LOL
-
So do I, do you have a problem with it? LOL Any deer put down is a good deer!!

Most of these parasites are in such places as the liver, brain, stomach or intestines. Simple solution is to not eat any of these organs. I know some people can't wait to eat the liver or heart, but they could keep them as far as I am concerned. I never liked organ meat from any other animals either, so I'll be damned if I will eat it from a deer.
