The HIP registration is free The Federal duck stamp money goes to improving habitat in the National Wildlife Refuge system and making more ducks for your daughter and other people's daughters and sons to hunt it is not a "fee" that you dont get a return on your investment...the return is more ducks for everbody On this one yes....you might be wrong...

Revised Mute Swan Plan
LI OUTDOORSMAN replied to Curmudgeon's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I responded through the DEC website. Being a waterfowler on the West end of the Island we see alot of swans here. I'm in favor of adding 1 bird to the daily bag limit. -
I get them real bad...but not the hamstrings...I get them down the front of my legs..Real bad...like REAL bad..Crawling on the floor crying bad..Especially after walking and sweating alot like during turkey season while "runnin' and gunnin'..I try to limit coffee and alcohol...These will take water out of your system..dehydration seems to bring them on more frequent and more violenty..but they still can happen anytime. I try to eat banannas and water alot while engaged in heavy activity and I've used pickle juice straight out of the jar and quinine water for immediate relief that sometimes helps..I always carry 2 water bottles in my turkey vest.

Looking to see if someone can give me a personal recommendation on a place they've already had a good experience at.

My buddies have been asking me about doing a turkey hunt down south like Georgia,Alabama,Carolinas, etc,Someplace to get away from this snow and cold and do some early hunting. I've hunted turkeys a few places around the country mainly midwest and Florida but none of the southern states in between. We are looking for a recomendation on a good clean reasonably priced lodge for a 3 day hunt..

We often come into posession alot of old used reloading equipment...usually wives or other family members of a deceased gentleman selling off his old stuff. Normally we can track down values pretty quickly on the all ever knowing internet. This item however I was able to get some history on (pre- WW2) but no resale value. The pic enclosed is not the actual item but its a good representation of it I pulled from the web Anyone have any idea what its worth? I think we have 2..not as clean as the pic but we are working on that. Markings read; The Meepos Co. LA Calif Speedlube Any input would be appreciated.

I took my son to New Brunswick for a combination bear hunt / salmon fishing trip on the Miramichi river for his 21st birthday..We went a little too early (dont pick opening week not necessary) but still saw bears and the fishing was fantastic.I would highly recommend Canada for a hunting trip..the people are very nice and the scenery was outstanding. I've hunted Canada twice and they always seem to bend over backwards to make sure you have a great time.. Bring your therma-cell and plenty of refills. Someone mentioned practicing drawing your bow with a headnet on = good advice Its truly amazing how such a big animal can be soooo quiet and stealthy in the woods...those bears KNOW your hunting them and know where the stands are.

Been following this thread now for awhile just my .2 cents.. Although I definitely disagree with the age limit requirement for NY I would never start out a young or new hunter by teaching them to break the rules right out of the gate..Better to teach them what the laws are and feel good you showed them the best way.

By the time they see the pink it should be too late

Rabbit hunting W/O Dogs

If you have any water on the property its a good idea to check all cattail and thick brush piles near it. For some reason they seem to like those the best. On our place I can almost guarantee you will flush a bunny or two from certain piles bordering the pond. -
The salesman said they would grow in NY in all but the most northern areas of the ADK'S Im thinking of giving them a try. Thanks.

I just returned from the ATA show in Indianapolis. There was a compnay hawking these trees for food plots for attracting deer. I'm interesting in learning more about their effectivness. I would be planting in a nice opening created by logging on my new place in Spencer NY, Tioga county. Can I get some feedback?

I would be in favor of a one buck and one doe per hunter per season rule ....you choose your weapon...of course AR's would be determined by WMU.I know a few guys who start out with the bow and if they get a buck their done, if not they keep hunting thru the gun season till they do.. And not to hyjack this thread but what we also REALLY need is a 1 gobbler per hunter per season rule (jakes included).
