  1. It's screwy enough just having the bolt handle all messed up and installed on the wrong side.
  2. I need a new scarf for winter.....start now maybe? Hmmm....I seen Lawdwazs' garage wall of racks....he could expand on calibers if he changed more; there are quite a few.LOL I take a different gun everytime; some have yet to be blooded, part of the fun. 20 ga (mostly using just the bird barrel and some cheapo slugs) 12 ga sabots 270 win (a couple whitetail bucks and a muley) 223 rem.....mostly head shots culling 375h+h (one doe) 50 cal inline and conicals A handful with a bow Add in other big game and it expands;300WBY;300RUM;458Lott;270WBY;45ACP;257WBY (a fast and flat addict with the WBY's and RUM, LOL).
  3. I thought that switch was 1982. Course he could have bought old inventory? You just thinking it's a newer gun?
  4. "It's legal in NY for crop damage use...AFTER dark, FROM a vehicle, UNDER a light and about every other circumstance that is illegal otherwise.." Well....I guess that would qualify for calibers you have taken deer with....not exactly what I was thinking. I've done a bunch of culling.....I don't consider it hunting; but I guess that's not technically the question.
  5. OK, I'll bite.... State or Province? .410 is OK down south in some states.......
  6. Isn't that off Clum Hill past Ski Cortina coming in from 23a? Not to be too much of a downer; but that's not the easiest place in the world to cut your teeth on deer hunting. IMO. Private can be OK....but once in the mountains, deer can be on the sparce side. Hmmmm....I'd take your buddies offer up at least once to go out with him; even just on a scouting mission to get a better feel for where to try a set up and to have a better chance at understanding deer movement.
  7. I'm glad you posted......never would have been on my radar without it. (mainly Aoudad I'm interested in; but Javelina be a dang close second.) I know several outfitters who have built a solid clientele list by using forums such as this one. You just have to put up with the same comments about prices, hunting style, guide vs non guided on all of them.....comes with the territory; no such thing as free advertising.LOL Good hunting.
  8. I'm in the same boat. This quote works for me; "To sum up, one does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted....." Jose Ortega But this does too; "Use enough gun...." Ruark
  9. Maybe I can get a few questions answered if you come back to see this..... I would like to know if this is the parent company for you;The owner is listed on your staff page for del Pilar http://www.pampaadventures.com/wingshooting.htm They have video shot at your place. Assuming that is a parent company in Argentina, why in the "big game" section are you using a video filmed at Algar Safaris? I thought Algar only had one booking agent authorized ? http://www.pampaadventures.com/biggame.htm You can watch the video where that footage was taken from here; http://www.algar-safaris.com/videos.html Middle video; left column Also on that hunting page of Pampa Adventures......you may want to tell them to remove the African Impala and the N.American Elk pics......Algar does not hunt them. I see pics from a group of dove hunters from Dallas Safari Club on Pampa Adventures site that have hunted with you......can you please send me their names as a reference. I would suggest having no physical address either in the US or Argentina be corrected as I would be leary of booking a hunt with no physical address of the outfitter listed and proper contact info just a Florida cell phone.
  10. If your outfitter needs more info this shop is a good source in SA; nice shop in Johannesburg; Craig Klintworth Mkonto Manufacturing cc - Custom Gunmaker South Africa [email protected] www.mkonto.co.za Also your outfitter will need to have a license to possess BP; so check with him on that too.
  11. Here's an article to read up on; http://www.conservationforce.org/newsblackpowder.html
  12. Walk in the airport and check your bags. Serious; not all that hard. You have to make sure you follow a couple basic rules for locks and ammo, but nothing that difficult. There are a few rules that are slightly different depending on airline and destination, but a bit of reviewing the airlines, TSA, and destination country make it pretty simple really. I'm guessing over 20 times for me and I have never had a problem; but I've had to be "flexible" a few times when dealing with counter staff that doesn't know their own airline rules (that's been more overseas than here in the US) On the blackpowder and substitutes in Africa...... You cannot ship OR carry BP on any commercial airliner....period. I do know folks who have travelled with blackpowder cartridges as loaded ammo and done OK. BUT you need to have the rifle in that cartridge with you when getting a permit in country. (some have tried carrying just loaded rounds to pull and transit powder that way) No loose primers either........ Namibia is a bit tough on BP supplies; but for SA you can pretty much get what you want. Remember their supply chain is slower, so I would be sure to connect early rather than later on what you need; and have access to options for possible loads as they tend not to have the newer cleaner powders we have yet in general. Tim Herald who hunts for TC paid $1000 for a can of BP for flmed hunt 2 years ago by the time he was done with overseas shipping, IIRC. (he posts on another forum frequently) Bullets for BP you're fine with as they will match your caliber.
  13. maybe add a Premier Liqour store too. Jeeze Elmer Fudd.....there ya' go interjecting facts into a internet board. Bad man.
  14. Indoor.....but why let lack of info stop an opinion, that's what the internet is for. I'd rather see a smokes-for-less and a fast food place move in; as those are healthy alternatives.
  15. Yes....."Trainer".....I just plink the ones that try to burrow into my foam on the shop foundation. I got that scope over on AR for my H+H as a spare, I'll just swap it out if I need it for a trip. I happen to exchange emails from a former neighbor tonight; he had his 30-06 Encore barrel freckle a bit. They exchanged for a new one, no problems since.
  16. If your at it.... You can clean mine too.
  17. Yaah....whats up with that? Gotta be "over the top" for sure.
  18. About 90 miles south it gets even more interesting. That's the spirit with the bird bath. Mighty nice of you.
  19. Geeze Larry.... He's right in Buffalo; help a brother out why don't ya. Or send him over to my dad's place, he can use the company.
  20. This may well comment of this hunters choice in bullet construction/weight not caliber. I find that point lacking in most of these discussions of caliber. Choosing a bullet type because they look really cool when opened the box at the local big box store and they were really cheap, is how a segement (and a large one at that) makes this decision.
  21. When I owned a D4; I had a smaller local excavating contractor move my stuff(dozer and skidsteer/attachments). Flat rate/cash will get you a good deal. Make sure you know about under carriage work and what to look for when buying a track machine.......lots of potential headaches there to avoid.JMHO
  22. I've bought some 28 ga from them.....Fiocchi...that were primed for about the same price. Doing good, think they are on the 3rd loading and should be able to get a few more.
  23. You should take Lawdwaz up on this.......he has REALLY good taste in guns and knows of what he speaks. Like the last couple posts.....give me a TSX or similar stout construction; I'll shoot any deer, even with Lawdwaz's lefty guns shooting righty.
