  1. I'm still curious to see some pics...... Crickets?
  2. Maybe you can get McKenzie to build you a replaceable target in the head for future practice.......easier to pull out that way. If the center is a 10 on the body.....should you get double points or a penalty at a 3d shoot?
  3. Just keep saying, "I can quit anytime I want; I can quit anytime I want, I can quit anytime I want...."
  4. In the head or up the poop chute.... They're all good.
  5. At one point a few years ago I had more than a few registered Red Angus breeding cattle. Had a 5 year old monster of a bull too, both for my animals and to hire out to stud.....Captain Tyrell. He was pretty good tempered, especially for me as I raised and showed him a few times...... I had my cows on pasture and some teens from a nearby property took to shooting my animals with a BB and pellet gun. State Police were called and the parents paid some vet bills as restitution. The one kid was 15 and to get even with me for getting him in trouble he thought it would be funny to drive into the pasture to mess with my herd. A few days earlier I let Tyrell in there to service my cows. He borrowed his dad's new Chevy Suburban....well Tyrell was a little spooky when it came to cars and trucks and he was already jacked up from being in with the ladies..... Stoved both sides in on the big SUV and broke or cracked every window in it. I got a call at dawn from the police as the kid spent the night up on the roof of the car as Tyrell ran him down every time he tried getting off. I've never seen two State Troopers laugh so hard as when I showed up with some sweet feed to lead everyone off in a sweep pen I had there to rescue that kid. Insurance company gave them all kinds of issues paying for the damage (how do you tell an agent/adjuster a bull beat in your car doors).....and the parents again had to pay the land owner for the pasture damage and me to repair the fences. Funny now....but I would have beat that kid if he was mine.....

I'm an enigma...... Got a new to me Blaser 300 WBY barrel to try out.....should be here mid-week. Gonna put a Kahles 2.5-10 50 TDS redicle for now, had that in the safe. Now I need a hunt so it can wack something with it.

I can always count on you to class the place up a little. Havalon Piranta.....Dull? Put a new one in for 12 cents. Nice orange plastic handle too....... Not exactly the feel of an Ingram, huh, Lawdwaz ?
  8. Starting out, shot a bunch of deer at 40 and under with just an 870 bird barrel with a bead.....
  9. I flew to Texas to meet up with a friend then drove to NM last year for a Muledeer hunt...... Had as much fun on the drive as on the hunt.
  10. If you have a cantilever scope mount; they stay sighted in well in general. But if the scope is on a receiver mount; you lose zero. Here is a sights barrel for the 535 at a cheap price; http://www.cheaperth...om/18375-1.html
  11. Thanks for report. Sorry you didn't get a chance with the 9.3 on anything.
  12. I thought that's why one went into the woods in the first place ? One a more serious note I try to eat stuff that is calorie dense; about 100-120 calories an ounce most of the time. Mostly some kind of granola type bar.....Pro-bars are a favorite. I need to eat to stay warm. YMMV
  13. It holds 2 pretty comfortable.....I use a directors style chair in it...... Mostly I shoot coyotes out of it at night......That Swaro 3-12 works pretty good with no lights and that first focal plane fat reticle; I'm going to try out that Aimpoint Micro this year too. When I had cows here to drop calves in early spring they used to be pretty bold coming in.....I dusted quite a few at the fence line it over looks.
  14. This one is a bit over 16'. Has an internal frame so the pop-up fits over it and it forms a railing inside(I also have a shelf board this can be moved to where I want it) I use an old section of ladder for access in a bottom trap door.
  15. I don't get out.... I just talk about it on internet forums like this one.
  16. Sorry you didn't punch a tag...... But still hope you had a good time. Looking forward to report.
  17. For rifle I take either one (and have done several of both) happen to like that frontal especially with some quartering stance. Wouldn't take an intial shot with a bow myself; but as a follow up second, if presented I would. Trophy hunter and proud ass shooter.
  18. To get bucks to stick around have you tried scattering pics of does in one spot?
  19. Not camping but when up your way visiting family, I often hike the Niagara Gorge trails with my dog. Alway's interesting stuff to see down there and from the rim. A few hours south puts you in the Allegeny area both in NY and Pa.; several trails places to camp and such in the National Forest. http://www.visitanf....utdoors/hiking/ Or go to the USDA forest Service site for more info.

    Hi

    Good stuff Larry.
  21. Snakes depend on season and terrain...... Most will never see one as the hunting is in their winter for the most part. I did hunt in some rocky terrain in Namibia that was just prime snake habitat and did have the PH spot one, I did pick up a cool shed skin from the same area. If white Europeans and N. Americans were dropping dead left and right from bites of nasty critters; no one would go. But about 12,000 a year do......you do have to take care for malaria areas, but meds are easy to take. I did get a nasty flu on my way home one year......I think I got it in the airport. The whole point of hunting where a Elephant gets in your way of a stalk is what makes it so cool......To see Leopard prints through camp that were not there the night before.....
  22. Been a couple times..... Just like anywhere in the world, certain locations hold better trophies than others.......For example 60" moose are in the Yukon; I wouldn't go to Quebec where best examples are 45"; IF I wanted a 60". Same there; Africa is a BIG place. Big Kudu are found in pockets of good habitat in several countries; but run smaller on places where they are introduced. There are lots of high-fence places in a few countries. Sometimes the acreage fenced is unbelievably huge, BUT others can be smaller......figure out how this effects your ideas of what you will hunt.Free ranging costs more; sometimes ALOT more; BUT you can also find un-fenced for a good price. Some places are limited to as what dangerous game (DG) are mixed with plains game(PG). If you want a hunt where Lion/Leopard/Elephant/Buff roam with your quarry of PG; make sure you understand where and what areas of what countries hold that; expect to pay more. A hunt there is more of a total experience, and always can have some ups and downs........things can run on "Africa time", ALOT more laid back compared to our society, you need to be able to go with the flow. Suggestions; Book extra days to just hang out in a few areas before and after your hunt. Many of my fondest memories are just hanging with some locals. Also done some good fishing there......fly for trout(yes, trout) bass, tigerfish, yellows, talapia.......This helps with time zone change and is cheap by the day. One thing is to book one of the major parks before the hunt. Gets you used to spotting game and such. Been to Etosha, Kruger, and Mana pools.......all were fantastic places(Etosha I liked the best in Namibia). Worth your time to go to either the Dallas Safari Club show or the SCI show to learn and meet outfitters and other hunters who can coach you along; money well spent. Don't shop price.....book the kind of hunt you want under the style you like. That style can change during the season; early hunts are thick and you'll drive more finding game, later hunts are more open and you can track better; ask what you want and what you are fit to do. Did a tracking hunt for Cape Eland for 14 miles over 12 hours in 90* temps.......best hunt I have EVER done, period. Once you go......you WILL plan to go back.....it's that cool.
