I know quite a few people who consider looks. I don't, but I also like all kinds of glass too and I'm not brand loyal or care if someone else doesn't like my choice. My 2 favorites happen to be 50mm objective if shooting in poor light may be about, but own just a little bit of everything. One is just stunning at night. Heck; I even bought a fixed power recent and won't Pygmy be surprised! ; just need a rifle to put under it.

Pretty cool huh? I started at 23......I can still remember details of hunts and I'm well into hundreds of big game. I keep a journal of most hunts even if just a day outing for squirrels, one sentence and it brings all of it back. Congrats on the first

Oh....that ain't the only one. Take enough shots, and bound to be a few that leave you head scratching.

I've shot a bunch of game animals, I get pretty frikin' pumped if its a management doe or a trophy bull/buck/ram. That ever stops, so will I. Only time I have regret/sadness is if I messed up first shot and need another to finish the job. The other thing that's true for me is when its over and if a goat rope, I let it go and don't let it carry over into the next hunt. Learn a lesson I hope of what happened but don't let it bother me. I beat myself up over the misses once in a while; I missed a 300 yd shot on a smaller target in April and I still can't figure out what the hell I did wrong; rest and position was awkward on a steep slope, but still. Errrrr. Hell of a ram too.

Nice deer all..... Had a dandy 8 run a doe through the yard last night. Never seen him before. Doe was a late fawn from last year that hangs out around my place daily. Sat on some public this afternoon in a spot I have used in the past, had a doe/fawn come through and a fork horn a little later right on her trail. Should have shot the doe. Fun couple hours anyway.

Same here..... I bought 2 cams first time this year, set one in woods and got a bunch of local deer pics, seen all of them anyway, but it was fun for a month. Now that one is around the shop/driveway and the other I gave away as a thank you gift.

Hope you get to stay lucky. I have a popular state land one full property of 200 acres is between us. Years ago it was OK, now they are camping there with RV's, tents and fires for open day and including Oct 1 this year..... I own just 4 acres and I get guys walking through here a few times a year, through three sets of posted signs over 1/2 mile through the woods. One said he seen a stand of mine so wanted to check it out! Its a tank stand for syrup at the end of a mainline run!

Interesting topic.....I have yet to meet someone who owns a piece of land for recreation that doesn't have/had this issue. Although the idea of buying something appeals to me, I don't think I want the headache.

Light at roughly 4:30 am and dark at 7:30 in June then, we are coming off daylight now to "real" time...... I'll take the hour change for a later summer sunset time.

I've taken the same stainless camp mug on every hunting and fishing trip I have ever done. Always have taken a priority species and have cooked countless meals in that thing all over. Goes in the carry on if flying as I don't trust it in checked luggage out of my possession. It doesn't work at all for deer.

Anything CITIES is USF&W so this whole deal would apply to both of you. IMO SEE EDIT BELOW SCI indicated they would put up some sample letters to make sure they are formatted correct. Hmmm, I'm not sure. US has a treaty that allows import of sport hunted meat and trophies from Canada that doesn't exist with anywhere else. Its been about 10 years since I imported Caribou and don't remember what I signed at Lacolle when stopping with paperwork....if that was a USF&W form or US Customs only. I know you took Lynx and your dad too IIRC. That required some CITIES paperwork on the Canadian side of things I believe, but did you need to do anything for import? Bring it home as baggage or need it shipped? May want to ask Fox your taxidermist if anything was filed, bet he'd know if there is a paper trail with your names on them. May have needed something for tannery? Not sure. I'm jammed up with CITES documents for a couple animals right now and awaiting export paperwork to US. Last time I looked at my file was at LAX and officer joked that I must have shot a lot of stuff as there's a long list for import for me. LOL I got to start leaving more stuff behind, getting ridiculous.

This is similar to newspapers wanting to publish Conceal Carry addresses......If you happen to know someone that has maybe done a hunt, please forward this thread; this is time sensitive, 3 weeks from Nov 1.If you have hunted out of the US and imported trophies; Human Society made a FOIA request to USF&W to release personal info of anyone from 2002 on who imported trophies. Addresses, value ,and contents are part of this info, all info on the import documentation.There is a way to comment to USF&W to potentially stop this and you can get more info here; This is dated for Oct 31, info should be up on Nov 1 on Federal Register according to the following;https://www.safariclub.org/what-we-do/freedom-to-hunt/first-for-hunters-blog/first-for-hunters/2016/10/31/if-you-imported-exported-wildlife-into-out-of-the-usEven if not in SCI follow the blog at that same link and next couple days they'll update on procedure.I know this effects only a small number of hunters, but it is a gross invasion of privacy.
