  1. I came across this one: http://www.spypoint.com/EN/products/heated-seat-cushion/product-hsc.html I found it online for under $100, seems like a great idea. I may spring for one.
  2. I just tell anyone who give me a dirty look or is ready to lecture me.... "Its free range and organic" Throw their liberal nonsense right back at them, and they are stupified on the spot.
  3. antler insanity is another one, same features pretty much as the Scoutlook.
  4. Hey, I'm not too familiar with Dartons, but if I were in your shoes, and a new bow is not on your radar..... How old is the string and cables? I work with a guy who bought a used bow, and it was loud when he shot it. He had a new string and cable set installed and he said it made the bow much more quiet. Then make sure the bow is tuned to you, thats probably the biggest thing that will help. You can add the "limb savers" to the limbs, and string silencers...but they are marginal at best for noise reduction IMO. If you are handy at all, you could try to incorporate a string stopper, much like many of the new bows have. From what I can see in the photos of the link you provided, your bow doesnt have a threaded hole inside the riser below the grip. You would probably have to get creative and make a "wrap around" bracket that attached to the stabilizer. I have seen guys make string stops over on Archerytalk.com in the DIY section. Hope this helps.
  5. I use the Chisel Tips. They dont seem to open in my quiver. The foam in my quiver is notched for 3 and 4 blade broad heads...I just line up the closed blades with the corresponding notches in the quiver foam, and push in just enough until I feel snug. If you feel the o-rings arent enough, the Rage come with the orange shock collars that are designed to hold the blades a little more than the o-rings. I've taken 2 deer with the chisel tips...I'm open to other brands too...I would like to try the Grim Reapers, and I have heard good things from them too. I think most times you'll hear negative feedback is mostly someone who has had an actual bad experience with a product and just holds a grudge, and its understandable. Good luck to you.
  6. Morning! After some shooting last night, I figured I should wax up the string and maybe put a drop of lube on the cam roller/bearing pivot points. This comming season will be the 4th season out with the bow since it was purchased new in the spring of 2011, and I am committing to replacing the string/cable this up comming spring and getting a basic tune up done(replacing any worn out items such as rubber string stops, arrow rest felt/mole skin...etc). I know that there are fancy cam specific lubes out there, none of which I own. Could I use the Hoppes clear lubricating oil(all orange tube) that comes in my gun cleaning kit? I cant see how it would hurt, but just want to ask before I do it, or is it even worth to bother with since I plan on servicing in the spring. Thanks.
  7. Good idea if you can avoid getting sweaty on the ride in.
  8. I have a Mathews Z7Xtreme I bought new in Spring 2011. For the cost of new bows, I plan on using this one for a good number of years.
  9. I have a camelback that has survived 5 years now. Darn good back pack. I have used it for hunting, scouting, carrying trail cams, even on occasion it gets some use during the off seasons too. I don't use the water bladder too often anymore as it made the pack bulky and added about 5 extra pounds when full. I now just carry a water bottle instead. I have a cheap-o fanny pack from Wal-mart for those times when I'm not too far away and I just pack in the bare bones essentials. I cant remember where it came from, either Dicks or Bass Pro...It was around $80 at the time.
  10. I bought a pair of lacrosse burly's 2 seasons ago on clearance, as they were discontinued. 1200 gram thinsulate and they come upto just below my knee. Best pair of boots I've owned. Super warm and water proof. I do a lot of walking in the spots where I go, they are holding up just fine.
  11. Good looking pistol. Looks sort of like a Glock.
  12. Thanks for all the input. I may just have to pop for one of these rifles in the near future.
  13. I've been toying with the idea of buying one of these in .223, just as a range toy, MAYBE a coyote gun, but I don't really varmint hunt, so it would mostly be a range toy. I've read that the synthetic stock is not the best...how would you two gents rate your rifles? Accuracy aside, the actual rifle for fit and finish. Thanks.
  14. Much like everyone else. Base layers and wind pants to the parking spot, then I put on my mid and outer layers before the walk in. If it's a little warmer out still I carry my coat in strapped to my back pack. Clothes usually go down in a big zip lock style bag that came with some scent shield soap and laundry detergent, and that is tossed into a big plastic tote with some diy carbon "scent killers" that I found on a diy website. Rubber boots usually just travel loose in the back with everything else.
  15. End of season last year I got some scent blocker pants for 50%off, and so far this year I finally upgraded to a HSS Bowhunter safety harness. Up till now I've only used the free harnesses that come with new treestands. This was a much needed upgrade, putting those old style ones on in the dark is a pain. Other than that I need some broadheads and blades, perhaps a new knife.
  16. Barretts Bowhunting in Elmira if your up for the drive. Outstanding facility, staff.
  17. go over to archerytalk.com and look in the DIY section. Guys build them all the time for about $50 or so using a small Harbor Freight saw.
  18. AWESOME! The Clay store will be not too far away from me. I'm glad to see they are using the old Walmart building, as it was just remodeled like 2 or 3 years ago, It grinds my gears that many times perfectly good buildings are left to rot, or torn down in order to put up some cookie cutter facility in the exact same spot. Pretty impressive list of vendors on their website. Mathews and Hoyt among them. Not too shabby. IF their prices are decent, it will give Dick's and Herb Philipson's some competition...which is not a bad thing.
  19. Glad it went well for you. My PT is a fellow bow hunter and after that 3rd or 4th visit he is very much on our side in pretty much all views in NYS. I have a pinched nerve causing sciatica and after a few weeks of therapy, I'm doing better but still am not 100% yet, still getting "fits and starts". He tells me I should be good for opening day, but time will tell. Good luck on getting better, and thank you for helping to sway her opinion.
  20. I used to be a Labatt Blue guy only. Then I tried a craft beer at a friends house, and now I'm hooked. I try to get new to me beers when I buy. Ususally a 12 pack lasts me a while, as I only have 2 maybe 3 here and there. I am a fan of Southern Tier brewing, Saranac, Bells, Shock tops in the summer time. There are a bunch of places around here that will fill up a 64OZ Growler for about $10-$12 and thats always in interesting experience too. I havent purchased a Labatt Blue in maybe 2 or 3 years. HA HA HA HA, the last time my Dad visited, he asked if I had any beer...so I gave him a sip of my Sam Adams Rebel IPA, and he spit it out....asked if I had any Coors Light, I ended up giving him a Shock Top Belgian White.
  21. Shirts... http://www.ny2agrassroots.com/donate/#!/~/category/id=9781090&offset=0&sort=normal
  22. boydsgunstocks.com I'm sure you can find a nice stock set on there for a decent price. As far as the drill holes, I would think a good gun smith could ream the holes, slug and plug them, make smooth again, and then drill and tap new holes correctly.
