  1. Congrats!! My daughter was born 3 months early so I know what you're going through with them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Yea it was neat and should be an excellent killer. Just not my cup of tea but a cool piece of history. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Pyg I thought of you today. I was up in kittery and they had a 1903 in 35 krag and it was a carbine! Didn't want much money for it either. It was tempting being a 35 but man was that bugger heavy! I have read about them before but this is the first time I have saw one. I guess it was a somewhat popular wildcat for shot out barrels. 4. If you think that deer weighed 160lbs you are sadly mistaking. Any ADK buck is a trophy, there is no reason to lie about the weight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Now that I own a few Henry's I don't ever carry my Marlins or winchesters for that exact reason I hate the loading gates and love being able to dump them in and out of the tube. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Don't do it you'll regret it after, see if you and the guys can still go hunting tho! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I've been having a craving for a quarter bore. I might get a rise in my shorts if they made a 250-3000 or at least a 257 Roberts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. If they're waiting until that happens we may never see them. Single shots have always been a very small market. Only a couple manufacturers make a "inexpensive" single shot center fire and they don't fly off the shelves. I have to imagine that if there was any money in single shots Remington would have kept making the handis because they already had the equipment. I hope I am wrong and they sell like hot cakes but I don't see it happening. They will have to make something pretty awesome for me to spend twice the money for a Henry instead of a cva and the cva has more options in chamberings. To me Henry has missed the mark again much like their long range. But I hope I am wrong because I do like Henry's products and their values. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Dnz. It's all I use now. They are 1 piece lightweight and bullet proof. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I am a fan of Henry but I am disappointed in the cartridge selection in the new single shots. One of the things that made the H&R's so popular was their diversity in chamberings. I have a half dozen handis and their all in odd ball chamberings and that's why I own them. 500s&w, 45colt, 35whelen, 35 Remington etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. 8.5lb for a 308, count me out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Public land is tough! If it wasn't with such a large group I would highly suggest making a trip in the spring and door knocking. Public land in Ohio get some insane pressure for gun season. The hotel I stay at usually has 30 or 40 trucks from out of state for gun season and the state land most of them are hunting is only like 800acres. From what I have saw from hunting out there for 5 years now is that ever nice buck I have saw come of state land is during bow season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. The old man bought a rem mtn rifle in 280 when I was a little fella. He thought it would be perfect for what he wanted and exactly what you described. At the time his only other deer rifle was a 760 carbine in 280. Him being a fan of short barrels and it being too pretty to cut the barrel on its sat in the safe for at least 20 years and I don't think it has ever been in the woods. I have shot it a few times and have never warmed up to it. I have nothing against a 280 and being a fan of "odd ball" cartridges I should love it but to me they do nothing a 270 or 06 won't do with way better ammo availability. If it were me I would be buying a tikka in either 270 or 06, definitely not as pretty as the remmy but from a utilitarian stand point I'll pick the tikka every time. 14. Great choice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I have 6x25's and I love them. They are older Steiner's and I don't know the model but they are crystal clear and are fine from way before legal light to way after. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Vx3i 2.5-8 would be perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. The factory 1in16 twist on those can hurt accuracy with the 250's but I have heard of some that love them so you'll have to try and see what she likes. When you get your dies make sure you get some Barnes 225's mine loves them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Well it's a good thing I got new undies for Xmas because these ones are ruined! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Nothing better than a light fixed power scope! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I let a lot of bucks go but I have also never eaten tag soup. If I haven't gotten a nice one by the last week I will kill what ever gives me an opportunity. I love hunting but I still enjoy shooting deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Mine are in my pack until dragging begins. I don't want the weight on my rifles and they make way to much noise when still hunting and tracking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Ice was sketchy as early I've always is, be careful and don't go out unless you know what you are doing! We had 3 inches most everywhere but some spots were only and inch and a half. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. 50 nice perch and a few beautiful crappies. Makes a good day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
