Now is the time for a lot of habitat work.

Taking a nap after reading all your work!! lol JK, I don't have to much of my own prop so, I need to pull in some stands, 1 off state and a few off private. I do want to figure out how to get a small plot in my clearing by the tower. I have no equipment to till though. Would love some turnip/mix but not sure how to get started on that idea. -
I use Tetra Gun Grease I have tried it without and had a bitch of a difference. Never had any issue with a dab of grease on the threads.

Been a rough week or so. My pup has cancer. A tumor on the top of the heart and another on the spine. Made a big batch of ground and rice for her meals. Did a strap tonight her favorite. We ate a few bites right of the grill in an ice storm lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My son and I should have enough points to do Gator in GA this coming season. I also wanted to get him on an out of state whitetail hunt. I’ve always wanted to try Anticosti. I got my bud down in NC checking out some public land hog as well. It all depends on the Covid crap too. See how the next couple of months go and decide. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am a huge fan of their beer! The new Farm Brewery is very nice. It will be great in the nice weather outside. The old place is still open and where they are still serving food. Which is great as well. Pork Belly Tacos yum!!

Well that is a wrap! It ended up a pretty good season. I hunted more during bow than ever, thanks Corona! I ended up with 4 deer and the group 7. My brother, brother in law and nephew each got one. We took 3 off my prop, 3 outa the hole and one on state. We really did not have any big buck sightings. I had a bunch of 2.5s and a 3.5 on cam but nothing bigger this year. We will be seriously looking for property to lease or possibly even to buy, but most likely lease. I don't care to give NY more tax money to blow. I've got a few projects. Need to pull 3 stands outa the Hole and one off state. Need to figure out how to plant the small field next to the tower in turnips and such without any equipment! Need to hit Costanza's in the next couple of weeks! I have a couple new firearms that I have my eye on as well as I think it is time to pick up a new bow for next year. I feel the need for some new toys lol. Hope you all have a Happy Holiday Season!

Sometimes it is the where that makes it!! A steak cooked over a fire in the frickin boons eaten with a hunting knife and your fingers.........
-
I tend to do NY Strips 1.5 inches thick. I am a big fan of rare but 1 minute each side it would be mostly raw.
-
I think it is easier to cook a steak to perfection in cast iron. It is easier to control. A grill has more variables just due to weather, wind, source of heat, lighting(cooking in the dark is hard lol)...It takes me some time to figure out, work in a new grill to know my exact procedure.
-
I cook beef steaks on the grill as well as a cast iron pan.98% of the time it is NY Strips as they are my favorite. I take out of fridge and put on counter for an hour with salt and pepper. A few minutes on each side on the grill get good color then I put off indirect for a few minutes. Pull let rest for 5-10 minutes. In a pan I tend to use butter and some fresh herbs and spoon over outa the bottom of pan as cooking. Pull pan after a few minutes on each side and the I let finish in pan off burner for a few minutes. I've eaten in steakhouses all over while traveling as well in steakhouses I wouldn't pay for on my own dime lol. Most of them are no batter. A rare few. You need to start with a quality meat which it looks like you are. I always hate when you order a $50 plus dollar steak and they want to put a sauce on it!! Might as well put A1 on it lol.
