We do a couple small pushes here and there after Thanksgiving. The last weekend we push hard...I enjoy it... a lot of walking the property that we usually try to leave as undisturbed as possible. I also enjoy the time with my hunting buddies....coming up with the plans etc. And someone almost always puts down a deer....

Good luck with the processing! Unfortunately I am not anywhere near Syracuse.....

I believe that is the camera I have and I believe my wife got it for me on black Friday for Christmas last year for about that price. It seems to be working fine for me this season. I have three camera's that were all less than $40. One is a Moultrie that I have had 4 or 5 years and is still working ok...One is a Primos and this Wild Game Inovations. The WGI you have referenced takes the best pics out of the group. I refuse to spend a lot of money on a camera that can disappear at anytime. I don't need photos that will make a magazine...just want to see what is there and when....

Lot of people have given some good advice. One thing that wasn't mentioned that I find helpful is a trail camera. People use them in many different ways. Pattern deer etc. I find that they help me stay focused on all those days you are not seeing anything. It is much easier to sit all day if you know that deer do walk past that particular spot. It keeps you in the game and from being able to say to yourself there aren't any deer around here. That is the biggest name of the game, staying in the game. Can't kill them from the couch! Sounds like you found a pretty good spot....pick up a cheap camera and see whats around.

Don't you usually watch and hunt?
-
I keep saying I am going to do that just to see but it isn't necessary for my hunting. I have never shot a deer over 75 Yds. Most under 50

Well haven' t seen a deer in the hard woods so moved right in to bedding. Still haven't seen anything. Really wanted to turn the alarm off and just sleep in this morning. So far that would have been the better idea.

Did a little push. One of the guys on the lease scored. I am a watcher this time...hope they move something

Thanks! .308. It groups ok... 2 1/2 inches at 100 Yds. There are definitely more accurate rifles but I love it!

Thanks...308

It was awesome.....I don't know them personally at all but have been following the forum for a couple years now and know they had really been working at it......It was great to see and made my Thanksgiving morning....Congrats to both!!! -
Well i have had two different bucks in the crosshairs this am. Plenty of chances at vitals. Just could never get a good look at the rack to determine if they were shooters. One I think was a half rack fork...the other looked better but still didn' t pull the trigger...good morning tho

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Feels like a good morning here in 4k...clear...slight breeze...29 degrees. In until 10 or so then home for turkey and trimmings. Good luck everyone!

I have yet to harvest a deer with my crossbow.....Really looking forward to the day it happens......I always feel like that should be the best two weeks but it hasn't happened yet. Congrats on your seasons!

I don't understand how you don't already have DEC at your house....I know just from all the pictures and topics you post how hard you work on YOUR property just to hunt a couple of months a year. I sure wouldn't be letting that go. We had a guy move one of OUR treestands about 50 yds off our lease onto a horsefarm that buts up against us...this treestand used to overlook a big field...he moved it back into the woods and turned it around and dumped a huge pile of corn and shot a beautiful 8 pt over the pile of corn. One of my hunting buddies caught him dragging it out. Didn't have permission to be on the horsefarm, hunting over a bait pile, stole our treestand, tresspassing....you better believe we called the DEC. That was a little over a month ago and DEC is making their presence known for us. I still haven't heard what is happening with the investigation but there are scumbags everywhere. You can't let them get away with it or you will just get more. I sure hope you call them....

Ray Keller? That's who I use....

You have a 10 pt or better rule? Aren't there a lot of deer that will never have 10 points?

What Could or Possibly Also May Be in your Hunting Area

Chas, I am sure it was a trespasser.....the point of my story was that if you believed in Bigfoot you would be sure you saw bigfoot instead of rationalizing what you saw....I thought what I saw was strange....still do...I don't think it was bigfoot.... -
Well, I have had better.....I was out every weekend since the opening and took Tuesday and Thursday off the week before rifle. I passed on several doe and some small bucks. 3 times I laid eyes on bucks I would have shot but never came in range. It seemed as though it got slower as the season progressed which isn't something I ever remember happening with my last week being the worst. I didn't witness any rut activity like I had in previous years. All and all a slow uneventful but enjoyable season. That slow spell is spilling into gun season which is starting to frustrate me a little but that is why it is called hunting. I have never hunted late archery. I am usually hunted out by the end of rifle.

Last Thursday I was hunting in my treestand on our lease. (I sit in this spot 90%). With all the leaves off the trees now I can see clear across the ravine on the opposite ridge. I kept catching movement on the opposite ridge and I would glass the area and see nothing. This happened probably 3 or 4 times, I would see movement, glass and see nothing. Then I see movement again and I am thinking crap, its a person and a trespasser, I caught just enough to tell it was an upright figure. There were 4 of us hunting the lease that day and I was pretty sure I knew where the other guys were. I text them and yup...nobody around me. I keep glassing while I am sitting in my stand watching the opposite side of the ridge trying to find the trespasser. All of a sudden I see movement and it stands up and climbs the ridge in about 3 steps effortlessly and I am thinking wow that guy is big and why is he wearing duck camo (brown and light brown). A deer comes flying down the ridge and stops in the bottom of the ravine. I glass him and it is a spike....he stands there a few seconds and tears into the thicket at the bottom of the ravine. I text the guys and tell them we have a trespasser. I meet them for lunch and I am telling them about this. One guys says if it was a trespasser where was he parked? Well, I have no idea....I said well it was either a trespasser or Bigfoot kiddingly. Nobody laughed. Just said they have seen strange things like that too....to which I laughed....Now I am not saying I saw bigfoot, but I saw something that didn't make a lot of sense....Like a large trespasser in brown camo....if I believed in Bigfoot I would 100% say I saw bigfoot....but you can't see something that doesn't exist....or can you....hmmmm -
I am torn between can't killem from the couch and this weather is BS. 50 mph wind...tree swaying back and forth...off and on cold rain. Am I having fun? Nope...would that change if a shooter or any deer for that matter shows itself...yup

I hope your chiefs embarrass my giants today. Force the owners to make a change
