This wind is frustrating. Check scoutbook to see if I should sit this stand. Yup. Great wind. Check on way to stand. Yup great wind. Climb up in stand. Yup great wind. Approaching magic hour. Yup 180 degree change right toward bedding. Here is to hoping the deer all have a cold and cant smell- 10374 replies

Wait, your wife took your bloody pants and underwear. Soaked them in cold water for you, washed out all the blood and then dried them and your complaining about a dryer sheet? My wife would say, that's disgusting and none of that is coming in the house if she saw me like that. I would have to leave it all in the garage and wash it while she was at work.

I bought an Allen this year and it is the biggest POS ever. Don't buy one of those. I believe the one I had last year that I forgot to take down was a field and stream and it was great.- 10374 replies

I used to be a huge Giants fan. Never missed a game and if I had to I recorded it and would be really upset if I found out what happened before I got to watch. Now I am just tired of football. The Giants suck, Players are knealing for anthem in protest but you never hear about any of them protesting on their own time. Players acting all crazy because they scored a touchdown even if they are losing. All the best players are huge drama queens that make millions of dollars. What ever happened to act like you have been there and will be again. Watching these guys act like clowns isn't entertainment to me. You can't even hit people anymore. They have taken the defense out of the game in favor of points for their fantasy league. When I was a kid I watched baseball but that game has become like watching paint dry and I used to follow Nascar when it was actual stock car racing but now you can't tell the difference between a Toyota and a Chevy. My daughter started playing soccer when she was 5 (13 now) and she started it because I figured it would be more exciting for her than Tball. She really took to it and has become pretty great at it. I love watching her games. She tried out and made a premier club travel team that she will be starting in a couple of week so I will be doing a lot of traveling for that. Her love of soccer has made me start watching that a little more on TV.

Dogs are the best and one of the hardest things I ever had to get over was the loss of my Golden Retriever Zimba. He passed 4 years ago this February also from cancer. I posted about it in this forum. He was by my side 24/7. Took him to work with me everyday. I don't have any pics of him on my work computer. Couldn't have ever asked for a better dog and loyal companion. I have a new Golden now named Milo. He is a great big dumbass. His name is fitting and I wouldn't trust him to take him to work everyday like I did Zimba although he has been here a few times. Although he is the same breed he is totally different and I love him just as much. Like you I love my dog more than most people.

That wasn't directed at you @OtiscoPaul. It was in response to the not putting Disney emotions into deer. Anyway....I hope someone gets out in the woods so I can read about what this thread is for. Sorry for getting it so off track....- 10374 replies

That makes a lot of sense and I never really thought about it like that. Not that I will change my mind but it does make sense. I have shot several doe. The times that I have they are in a large group with a mixture of adults and young deer. I have picked out the largest one and shot. They have always all run off and I have never had a fawn looking lost after that. I guess it is possible that I still could but to me the odds feel pretty good that the group will take care of the young.- 10374 replies

Well like I said in my post, everyone has to be ok with their decisions that THEY make in the woods. Your decisions are obviously different than mine and there isn't anything wrong with that. Do you have a dog? I almost can't imagine that you do. I am positive my dog has emotions. He is super happy when I come home, ask him if he want to do for a walk or got to the nature preserve. (yes he knows what that mean) When I leave I can hear him crying in the house. When I am leaving and he is all excited and I tell him he has to stay you can see the deflated look on his face. You don't think its possible deer have those same sort of feelings? When you see a fawn jumping around in a field around its mother you don't think its possible it's happy in that moment. When a fawn is bleating because it lost its mom you don't think it might be sad at that moment?- 10374 replies

Well I am pretty sure nobody here thinks a deer is happy to get a sharp object stuck through their body or a round through the vitals. Or much worse a non fatal or long suffering wound. We as hunters have a responsibility to put the animal we are hunting down with as little suffering as possible. We have to be ok with the decisions we make in the woods. If I was to shoot a big fat momma doe and then watch a fawn crying, lost, circling its mom. Then I wouldn't be ok with that decision no matter how perfect the shot was I placed on momma. There are other hunters that would just think well, that's nature and others where the food provided by momma doe is of great value to them. They are ok with their decisions and there is nothing wrong with their choices either. All are perfectly legal. We all have to do what we are ok with within ourselves.- 10374 replies

To each their own. I have no problem with people shooting a doe that has a fawn but if I see the fawn momma doe will get a pass from me. About 30 years ago my father shot a doe that had a fawn with her. Dropped her where she stood. The fawn started bleating like crazy in what my Dad described as whaling and was nosing its mom to get up. My Dad had to chase it off to gut her and the whole time he was gutting her the fawn kept walking around 15 yds away whaling. Even followed my Dad as he started to drag the deer when he again chased it off. My Dad never shot another doe and that isn't something I want to see happen if I shoot one. I am perfectly happy to watch them and enjoy the experience.- 10374 replies

Back where I sat last night and saw the spike and 5 doe. Wind seemed good when I checked it and now it is blowing across their bedding. Guess it will be putting the ozonics to the test- 10374 replies

I shoot NAP killzones in both my bow and crossbow. I don't have a problem in either weapon with POI between those broadheads and field points. Which I guess is a good thing because I wouldn't know what to do if I did. Maybe give them a shot?

So sorry for your loss. You Dad will be looking down on you all season long and always.....

I am not going to cry if Barkley is the pick....Another concern I have is being picked #2 overall he immediately becomes one of the highest paid RB's in the league without ever taking a NFL snap. Not a very good way to leverage a rookie contract. RB is also one of the highest injury rates in the NFL....That first 4 years is fully guaranteed.....
-
Big Giants Fan....Hoping the Giants get a kings ransom for the 2 pick and trade out. Not in love with any of the QB's and while I think there is a chance Barkely is a generational RB no RB is going to be able to run behind the Giants OL the way it is constructed. Trade back, build the trenches and go with any other of the fine RB's.....Remember Reggie Bush was a can't miss RB that went #2 overall.

How is the choice of crossbow or bow not more of a freedom of choice than bow only? You get to decide instead of the government deciding for you. I hear what you are saying about it going to all implements and I thought about that as I was typing it. So I get that argument, and no I wouldn't be for that even though it would give people more choice so I guess that philosophy can't work for everything. I guess I have just swayed from I like it the way it is..... too....why shouldn't people be aloud to choose.

I voted for full inclusion for the first time in one of these 47 polls. All the other times I voted against it. The reason I voted against it in the past was the same reason as you. I like the season the way they are...It basically makes me use my bow. If full inclusion was in effect I am not sure I would carry my bow anymore. Then I started thinking, I am voting for less freedom which goes against pretty much everything I believe in. If I chose not to carry my bow anymore that would be my choice and not someone dictating it. Either way they need to amend the existing law immediately to allow people to hunt with a crossbow that are not able to bow hunt due to age/disability. I want everyone that wants to be in the woods hunting to have the ability to do that.

What they should be asking is.....why was there no help for the weird kid? How did the police get called 42 times on this kid and yet he was still able to walk into our school...what happened to three strikes? How was the FBI told about this kid twice yet nothing was done? These kids have been rounded up an taken advantage of by anti gun groups....yell and scream...gun gun gun.....
-
That's because they don't actually want to fix the problem. If enough of these happen there will be enough shouting for repealing the second amendment. No good tragedy goes to waste. That's why we never hear about solutions that might actually work like things you laid out. You will never get me to believe that the gun control advocates want to take our guns. I don't care what they say. Repeal the 2nd amendment and instead of having the right to own you have the privilege to own.....Throw a couple of more laws in there and in a generation or two....bingo...no more guns....We just keep giving away our freedoms little by little. The freedoms that made this country great for over 200 years and the freedoms that separated us from the rest of the world.
