Cool ! As you know I hunt 8m too.That is the first bear I have seen from there but I have heard of the sightings.

I agree with you,that is disgusting.I hope the shooters are caught if poaching is what happened.

I was at Letchworth yesterday too. I only jumped one small doe in the a.m. Took a walk to the river bottom but didn't see any more deer. I did see 3 doe at the Mt. Morris entrance on my way home after legal shooting ended. I stopped and said hello- maybe I will see you next year.I did see a lot of fresh tracks in the mud as well as other fresh deer sign.I will be looking for a new area there this winter.

I vote one buck rule.I know some greedy hunters would find a way around this by using other people's tags but that is what I would choose between the two.

Congratulations on the late season deer everyone. I only saw one doe yesterday that jumped up 30 or so yds from me .Only had the flag end to shoot at so no smoke cloud for me.(sigh) I am going to find some new spots this winter.Happy holidays.

Interesting question. I have killed quite a few doe that were older than 1 1/2 yrs. I think the liklihood of any deer reaching 2 plus years depends on dmps,dmaps and the area you are hunting in.I am sure there are other factors besides hunting that determine a doe's longevity, probably a bit of luck too.Here in western N.Y. 2-3 yr. old doe are not uncommon.

You are probably right,I am sure my nephew won't forget today as this is his first year deer hunting. I would have liked for him to have actually been able to see a deer today up close but there is always next year.He didn't seem bothered by what happened so that is good.

Went out this morning, beautiful conditions.It was 12 degrees with snow on the ground.Walked in a mile with my nephew.We slid down a steep hill and when we got to a ridge we realized too late that it was not someplace we could drag a deer out of.We spent the next two hours trying to get back up the slippery slope.Meanwhile we saw some deer down below but too far and had no idea how we would have gotten one out.Ended up finding a deer trail and was able to walk up the steep hill side but not before both of us had fallen a few times and banged up our guns and bruised my ego.I will not be hunting there again.Wow what a waste of time that turned out to be.
