I wonder how the bow only areas at Letchworth are this week ? Could be good.

I bought my muzzle loader license early this year, today I switched a vacation day at work so that I can go hunting Monday next week. I am hunting Sun and Mon. if all goes according to plan. I just wanted to get out again.Merry Christmas to me, merry Christmas to me ....... I don't take vacations during the summer so I am going to sit somewhere with old smokey one shot and enjoy not being at work. Not bragging just happy.

Now with the 209 primers having a larger firing hole than a #11 cap I was thinking it may not be necessary.Probably better safe than sorry though.

How many of you fire a cap or primer before loading your m.l ? I know people that do to dry any oil and clear any residue I imagine. Just curious if it is really necessary.

Wish it was a happier ending for you, I have had that happen before. It is hard to believe when a deer doesn't run after being shot at but I think sometimes they can't tell what happened or what direction the sound came from maybe.Snow seems to deaden sound a bit too.(I'm sure the report was still very loud).Maybe she will be there next year for you.

Letchworth is in Livingston and Wyoming counties. I used to hunt the Bergen swamp in Genesee county. There were a lot of deer there and some nice bucks but you have to know a resident to hunt there.There is a good amount of corn grown in Genesee county as well as woods and fields to support whitetails.The dec gives out a lot of dmps for 8g in Genesee cty. I would hunt Genesee cty. again.

Exxon Mobil. I would get a lot of enjoyment out of free fuel for my hunting and scouting trips.

A deer can be kept up to 10 days if kept at 38- 40 F. That is out of the sun . With hanging outside and temps rising and falling I wouldn' t have waited more than 2 days myself. 24 hrs. should pass before butchering to allow rigor mortis to pass and the meat to relax .I also would have skinned the deer within 24 hrs. You would be surprised how long a deer stays warm with the hide on.You will have to be the judge now. Next time you may want to skin and quarter the deer and put it in a refrigerator or coolers to age or until you can finish processing it. I only let a deer age if it is not getting warmer in my garage than 40 F.If it gets to be mid 40's and above I butcher it and at least get it in the refrigerator after 24 hrs.

My nephew wants to go out again after being sick the last few weeks.Hope Sun. is a better day.I would love for him to have a shot.
