  1. Thanks for the tip. I did shoot the gun already once but not from a bench just resting on a railing at a buddies place.I didn't think the recoil was as bad as a 12 ga shooting slugs or turkey loads. My friend shot the gun too and he said the same.I will know more next time I shoot it.
  2. I will let you know how it shoots. The rifling appears to be in good shape however I don't really know what to compare it to.Hopefully I bought a good one out of the 17 million that were made. This is my first centerfire rifle other than a Contender pistol I once owned. This one is stamped 1942 from the Izhevsk arsenal. It was refinished at one of the arsenals.I am looking forward to shooting it with my son and nephew. It is not everyday a world war 2 rifle is available to shoot. It should be a fun adventure.
  3. Skillet, what did you use to catch those salmon, egg sacks ? Congratulations.
  4. I see this is an old thread but I just bought this Mosin Nagant 7.62x54r at a gun show a few weeks back.I am looking forward to shooting it at a range and maybe one day even taking it deer hunting with some soft points. Most places I hunt are not rifle zone but ya never know.$118 I felt was a good investment even if only for the history involved.
  5. My new .22 scope. $33 total through pricefalls.com. It is for .22 or airgun. I still need to sight it in but it appears to be very nice.Lens caps and mount all included.
  6. Hey fasteddie , can you put a picture of that Marlin on? I love those old .22s . Actually I pretty much love all .22s. When I have more disposable income I may have to start collecting a few.
  7. I wanted a 25 round .22 clip for my rifle but I can't buy one online. No shipping to N.Y., Mass., CA, or I think Hawaii.
  8. No way to say for certain what happened but that rib looks broken inside the hole. That looks alot like what I see at the wound site when I skin and butcher my deer.Again I'm not an expert but I could see where it does look like a slug or bullet could have broken the rib and left a hole which was then gnawed on and made bigger.Hard to tell.
  9. Yes it was the Webster store I went to.I believe the field and stream basic hang on stand was about $35.The 4 ft ladder stick extensions were $16 but as far as the rest of the stands I didn't pay that close attention to them. The selection was decent last Sat. there were boxes stacked on the floor of treestands. If you call the lodge @ the Webster store I'm sure they would tell you what is available and price.
  10. Stopped by my local store yesterday, I noticed quite a few items on sale or clearance such as clothing.scent eliminating products, tree stands, broadheads and camping items. I picked up a soft material, waterproof camo jacket orig $70.00 for $25.00.
  11. Really nice. I like that look much more than the European skull look.I have an antler mount with the laser engraved picture of a buck and the year on it.I didn't know those were available on Ebay.Maybe next year I might need one ( I hope) .
  12. I hope your wife is better soon fasteddie that sounds like an uncomfortable ordeal she had.Good luck with the new sight .
  13. Sorry I didn't check back here until today. As far as I remember the cap is fine once loaded. It was only tricky because the cap sits down inside the gun so you are trying to push it forward while it is down inside of the action if that is the right term.I had no problem putting the cap in with the pliars I used.It was also about 12 degress out that morning which didn't help.My cousin mentioned a capping tool that can be purchased that makes loading easier.
  14. The Marines on the video being investigated no doubt did a dumb thing by making a video and sending it out to whomever. However jail time is not the answer or justice in my opinion. Should they be reprimanded ? Yes.Should they be taught that these acts can be used against all U.S. military personel ? Of course. As far as showing respect to the Taliban - NO WAY. The Taliban are a half human half animal murderous faction with a "religious" ideology that is bloody and should have become extinct long ago.At least there are less Taliban today thanks to our military.
  15. I saw in the news that some U.S Marines are in trouble for peeing on some dead Taliban and that made some people upset and that the Marines may now be in trouble for desecrating a corpse. Really ? Doesn't the corpse have to be human first ? These soldiers shouldn't make a video and send it out I agree but they could face jail time ? I don't get it.
  16. I have a Remington spr 453 12 ga. which is actually a Baikal shotgun made in Russia. It is built to last,I have no complaints so far after 1/12 yrs.It is semi-auto up to 3 1/2 inch shells, came with 4 chokes and factory camo, cost me about $300.
  17. I have heard that an anonymous call from a payphone to the fire dept. will send someone to investigate a nuisance fire.I can neither confirm or deny this.
  18. I bought some of those sneaky leaves the other day for turkey and bow hunting,They look great. Thanks for the info arrow nocker.
  19. I agree with the work of art statement, those arrows add to the satisfaction of shooting and hunting on a personal level in my opinion.
