  1. I know someone who owns a buckhorn and my nephew used it this past season. There is nothing wrong with the gun however a cap tool is worth having as the cap can be difficult to load.We dropped 3 caps on the ground in the snow trying to load before I got a pair of needle nose pliars out.The design may be different now I don't know.I think the buckhorn is a great first ML.
  2. Beautiful looking weapon, love the walnut and engraving, except they forgot to engrave you in your stand behind those deer.I'm sure you will be proud to carry it.
  3. You are allowed to swing until the bat breaks.
  4. That is one strong young woman. She has been through a lot recently. Hopefully she has a better future.I am glad the right person ended up at the morgue.I would go to jail for shooting an intruder if necessary to protect my children.
  5. Happy hunting ! I always wanted an over/ under.
  6. Happy new year to you too.
  7. Peace and good health to you and yours in 2012 Karpteach.
  8. I have actually said I'm sorry to deer I have killed.I know they can't hear or understand if they could but I have done it.Then I did what every hunter does and filled out the tag and gutted the animal.I am never sorry when I sit down to eat the venison especially when sharing it with others.I am sorry for ending a beautiful creature's life but thankful for my success at the same time. The only people that have zero feelings about killing are insane or not willing to admit it in my opinion.
  9. As WNY said. I use a camo fanny pack , when I get up and settled on a tree I attach the pack to the side of the seat frame.I have most everything I should need in the pack. I have a Summit viper as well.
  10. My parents gave me a pressure canner I had asked for witch was the item I wanted the most.My son gave me an ipod so I am a little more modern now.Saw a lot of family and ate like a king so all is well.I had to go for a scouting walk today I was feeling so slugish.
  11. I meant the one in Short Tract. That place is fun to stop at.
  12. I am not sure what you want to use it for but have you seen the Marlin 795 brand new for $100 ? They have been on sale every few months at Dick's and Gander. That is after a $25 rebate.
  13. I was out there yesterday too.Watched an idiot speed up to stopped traffic then pass and cut in up ahead.Saw another guy drive half off the road on grass to get around someone. Another guy talking on a cellphone rolling through a stop sign.Good will toward man my eye.More like "all about me".Always a few bad apples.
  14. Can coyotes take down a healthy buck like that ? Or would a hind end wound followed by animals scavenging on the carcass be more likely ? I know coyotes can kill a wounded deer but I didn't think an adult healthy deer would be killed by coyotes.
  15. These pictures are great.Congratulations to all. You have my admiration. There is nothing easy about bringing home these deer.Be proud !
  16. What a shame for those guys to be wasted like that.I hope if poaching occured you can somehow put a stop to it.Poaching is bad enough but wasting an animal like that is worse in my opinion. Good luck.
  17. I shot my first two deer just west of Allen lake on state land.I was thinking the other day how I want to save a couple days vacation next year for the late season.Congratulations.How is the trading post doing ?
  18. Sorry for your loss Larry.Glad you had your dad for so long.Knock one down for him with that model 11.
  19. Obviously hope he is going to be alright.
  20. Nice finds wooly.Poor buck, some nice steaks wasted there.
  21. Clean and oil our guns, scout out new spots to hunt next year, refletch arrows, look for shed antlers and more importantly- sleep in !
  22. I wear orange.I think people who hunt in an area that has more hunters per sq mile are more in favor of blaze orange than some who may not see another hunter very often. I could be wrong.I like seeing orange for obvious reasons but also because I will turn around or go another direction if I know someone else is near.I do that for safety and because I am an anti-social sob.No really it is because I like my space and figure others do too.
