  1. It's hard to find any balanced reporting or video of what actually happened in Charlottesville. The Conservative folks who went to report on the event saw early on what was happening, and where it was headed, and the smart ones got the heck outta there. The ANTIFA crowd was even lashing out against their media comrades from the MSM before it was over. Animal instinct, I guess.
  2. Officer: "Are you using urine as a deer attractant?" Me: "Not intentionally sir. I took a pee over near that bush before I sat down." Officer: "Looks to me like you're baiting as well." Me: "After the walk in I had to take a dump, and I had corn-on-the-cob last night, sir." Officer: "Come with me. There are multiple violations here. Would you like to call your attorney." Me: " Yes I would, he'll wonder where I went, and he drove. (Shouting) HEY MIKE. COME OVER TO MY STAND. I'M BEING ARRESTED."
  3. Somebody's going to get a good deal on these implements.
  4. Happy Birthday to you!! It's my niece's b-day as well.
  5. I plow my gravel drive with a 6' back-blade, curved side toward the snow of course. I think the york rake alone alone goes for about your asking price for both, if I remember.
  6. They're all at least somewhat biased in their own ways. The only way to counter that bias is by being aware of it so that it doesn't completely override your judgement, and the best way to do that is to get information from a wide variety of sources.
  7. There is no 'proof' required. Watching/reading (and paying attention to) something other than than the controlled Leftist news outlets would have shown you the severe bias in how the event was covered and presented to the public. You've chosen to be ignorant of the bias. I can't help you with that. If by "moving goal posts" you mean working hard to help prevent Socialism/Communism from destroying our country, I'll plead guilty to that every day. If that's not what you meant please explain what other "goal" is involved.
  8. Watch video clips from any of the MSM coverage of that mayhem. How many hammer & sickle flags are shown in those videos? There were almost none. I watched and re-watched a lot of them to verify and it was completely ignored by CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC... I was being generous about "people not saying a peep" about the Communist flags. The fact is the media completely ignored it so that people wouldn't ever see it and have the opportunity to say anything about it. That's how it works. And it wouldn't do any good to link to any story you will immediately discount as a "Papist type source", whatever that is. I'm guessing it's any 'source' or opinion that runs contrary to your worldview, but I'm generalizing.
  9. Before anyone jumps on my neck I just want to make my point clear. What the Nazis did was horrible and inexcusable, and I find anyone who agrees with their ideology equally horrible. I'm just pointing out the basic fact that the Communists seem to constantly be getting a pass on their equally horrible behavior over history. This is by design, folks.
  10. The NYT showed their true colors in 1932 when their chief foreign correspondent, Walter Duranty, won a Pulitzer prize for lying to the American public about the state-sponsored mass starvations that were happening in the Soviet Union. He praised the Communist regime that brought that massacre about, and Walter Cronkite carried it forward after Durante's death. "Nothing to see here, Communism is a model of utopian paradise." As much as I hate Wikipedia, they've gotten most of this one right and it shows that this is not some 'right wing conspiracy': https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Duranty The Communists murdered over 150 million of their own citizens in less than 100 years just for disagreeing with them. The vast majority of self-identified ANTIFA "protestors" today identify as at least Marxists if not full-out Communists. The people who were terrified of the Nazi flags at Charlottesville never made a peep about the Communist flags that were there. The MSM, academia, and the entertainment industries are in lockstep with ANTIFA sentiments. How stupid does one need to be to see where this country is headed if their efforts aren't thwarted?
  11. They ride a really nice line between quality and price. One small tick either way and their business model wouldn't work, but they've managed to ride that line exceptionally well for about a dozen years now. No small feat in a city with 16,000 residents and 10,000 restaurants. I'm exaggerating, but not by much.
  12. I forgot about Torrey Park. Thanks for the reminder. FWIW, that's where the owner of Parker's goes for a quiet dinner and a couple of martinis, on occasion.
  13. Pygmy, I think you're talking about Nonna's Trattoria. A very nice family restaurant. Not too far from there is Emile's which is also very nice, but they've discontinued their excellent complimentary salad bar because too many people were taking advantage of it. {frown face} Parker's Grill & Tap House is very good. It's a nice but lively atmosphere with a small patio area out front for people-watching. It's somewhere between a family restaurant and a sticky-floored college bar. Lots of young people, but also lots of their professors as well which makes it an interesting mix. Decent row of taps with some local beers as well. For high-end you could try Halsey's Restaurant, next door to Parker's. My friend owns both and I've done a lot of construction work on several of his restaurants. Halsey's requires a really fat wallet though. Maybe buy a drink and share an appetizer there as an excuse to tour the place and see some of my woodworking skills before dinner at Parker's. {shameless self-promotion} Uncle Joe's Pizza is another place with friendly people and good food. Very casual dining and just far enough off the beaten path that the yahoos aren't regulars. There are honestly too many to list, Larry. I've never had a bad meal at any of them, but there's a good chance that your daughter will run into classmates and/or professors at Parker's. That friendly-face stuff counts a lot. Enjoy. ETA: Keep in mind that the students are all coming back into town right now. Wait times for anything but a reserved seat could be long, and places like Parker's don't do reserved seating. It's a very small city that gets turned upside down a couple times a year.
  14. Think for one moment. POTUS Trump and his family are being threatened with death every single day simply for who they are. Those threats are not only condoned, but encouraged by certain groups. Trump is the most heavily protected POTUS in history because of those irrational threats. But by all means, blame him for it.
  15. If you can find a spot with sunlight being filtered through tree leaves onto blacktop go out and watch. It's a very eerie experience even if you're not in the path of totality. The spaces between the leaves act like thousands of pin-hole projectors.
  16. The .410's are fun to shoot, and that one's darned pretty, too. Enjoy!
  17. Soros should be in prison. I think a first year law student could make the case for 'incitement to riot' against him.
  18. I'm impressed, my friend. Very nice artwork! I wish I could have found all those dental burrs for you, but I've run out of places to look. Small vignettes in the corner of a piece of glass covering a treasured photograph would be very cool. Great idea, sethf11.
  19. ... and 30,000 protestors showed up to silence them. http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/08/19/boston-free-speech-rally-disbanded-after-thousands-of-leftists-counter-protest/ Am I the only one who sees what's going on here?
  20. The faithful followers of Saul Alinsky hound me every day on other sites accusing me of what they themselves are doing. It's the official and approved modern political version of the playground retort, "You are, but what am I?" I gave it up about 50 years ago, but it seems to making a big comeback.
  21. The people who have an all-consuming and passionate hatred for President Trump, and there are many, wake up every morning saying to themselves that he absolutely must have done something untoward or illegal to be elected. They've convinced themselves that it's their job to find out what that is. It's just inconceivable to them that the coastal elites, Ivy League professors and their former students, professional politicians, pedestal pundits and pollsters, etc. are wrong about the will of the American people. It's irrational and obsessive but it consumes nearly 100% of MSM coverage today. Quite honestly, it's painful to watch their fall.
  22. And just what crimes would those be? I follow this stuff very, very closely and I have yet to hear of any formal accusation regarding Trump. Mueller's team is not looking for prosecutorial evidence, they're on a fishing expedition. Nothing more, nothing less.
  23. This has been going on for decades, but it's certainly gotten worse as of late. I graduated in 1977 and remember when the school system started calling the "Civics" class the "Social Studies" class. It would have been a lot more honest if they had just called it the "Socialist Studies" class. Even at that young age I saw the difference in how 'facts' were being presented to the students.
  24. Happy Birthday to your grandson, Growie!
