North Dakota Joins Eight other States
philoshop replied to Steve D's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Common sense could make the world go 'round, if there was just a bit more of it. Kudos to North Dakota. -
Very cool Wooly. If you mean really small tooling like at the level dentists use, I can probably help you out. Tiny burrs, grinding wheels, polishing wheels, etc. I grabbed a bunch of that stuff when my Dad sold his dental practice about 15 years ago and I'd be happy to send it to you.

Two miles up the road from me, on the side with the "Tree City" sign. Great bunch of folks, for sure.

DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE
philoshop replied to hunterman7956's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I believe fasteddie is defending the article you posted and the entire point of your post. These attempts to rewrite history and to alter 'collective' memory are what is BS. -
Welcome aboard mkgregor! Please, enjoy the experience.

Geneva, NY; A great little drinking city with a fishing problem. Okay, I stole that from somewhere in Florida. Islamorada maybe? Geneva's motto is different depending on your direction of entry: "Tree City", "Lake Trout Capital of the World", "Speed Zone Ahead", etc.

You're certainly on the right track here. Now, think about who owns and runs the media. ;-]

Our federal government has no understanding of the basics of business. Excellent point!

And then the federal government completely took over their education... -
To do a good job at stillhunting often requires some pretty serious physical fitness. When you step on a twig and spot a deer looking at you at the same time, you may have to be able to hold that very awkward position for a while. Holding that position will be a test. You fail and the deer will flee. The sound alone, or a bit of movement alone, won't normally make the animal flee, but if you put the two together you're probably done. It's not always about being absolutely quiet either. It's about not making noises that are considered alarming or threatening to the animals. I've had deer come within feet of me while I was running a chainsaw, even during hunting season. It's a human form that's moving around, it's pretty loud, and it smells like sweat and two-stroke exhaust. But they're curious and want to check it out. I've never stalked deer before, so I can't comment on it, but stillhunting is an art form that needs to be practiced. I spent much of my youth sneaking around the edges of beanfields with a .22 rifle hoping to surprise a woodchuck that was within range, and I learned a lot.

I've posted this on a number of websites today where I normally get pretty vocal response, and lots of hatred from the left. Things have been very quiet, almost like everyone is waiting for their favorite talking heads to chime in before putting forth an opinion. It's a very simple question: "Who benefits from these allegations?" Watch the video again and pay close attention to Comey's reaction when asked whether James Clapper(DNI) and John Brennan(CIA) may have had access to the investigative material and/or the authority to declassify and disseminate that material. Clapper and Brennan still work very closely with the former Obama regime which seems to be reconstructing itself right down the road from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I don't like conspiracy theories, but this is going beyond just theory.

The old original battery in mine only died after I stopped mowing my neighbor's field at high RPM every week and concentrated on pulling logs, mostly at reduced engine RPM just to cut down on the noise in the woods. Diesel engines are made to run at specific RPM, all the time, even the littler ones. I knew that but somehow let it slip. $140 penalty.

It's Latin for " Who benefits?". It's one of the most basic legal and investigative questions. "Who benefits?". Trey Gowdy touched on this when he questioned James Comey today, and got some answers with respect to the allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians. The intelligence agencies don't/didn't benefit from the allegations. The Trump campaign didn't benefit. The Trump administration is not now benefiting. The Hillary Clinton campaign didn't benefit. And I would argue, at this point, that the DNC didn't benefit at the time. So, "cui bono?" Who remains on the list of possible benefactors from this? Just something to think about.

The Kubota B7500 in my avatar came from my Dad who bought it lightly used from another gentleman. My Dad is not big on preventive maintenance with equipment like tractors and proceeded to punish the poor thing for ten years with hard bucket work and brush-hogging. When I took the keys five years ago I gave it a thorough inspection, and other than changing the oil and hydraulic fluid she was still good to go. The only way I can describe it: It's a very STOUT machine for its size. I could probably sell it today for about what my Dad paid for it 15 years ago. I have no experience with the newer ones.

High school and college are being structured and used to destroy ambition and critical thinking skills among the young in most disciplines. I intentionally avoid hiring most college graduates because they come out dumber than they were when they went in. -
90 years old, God bless him. He changed the face of music more than Elvis did.

One of the things I've noticed lately with door and window manufacturers and sellers is the upgrade in warranties. It's a very competitive business and the big names are willing to stand behind their products. Installers on the other hand are generally hit or miss.

Meat its whats for dinner or at least I'd like it to be...
philoshop replied to ccorvo25's topic in General Chit Chat
Absolutely correct. Other than license fees I have spent very little on hunting in the past twenty years. Reloading supplies, and processing gear like baggies, tape, and wrapping paper... Oh and $0.25 on diesel fuel for the tractor for every one I drag outta my woods. Everything else hunting-related that I might spend money on is just for entertainment. PS. Probably the biggest expense is running the freezer, but that would be required for store-bought food as well. -
Elephant In The Room
philoshop replied to DirtTime's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
No offense intended Core, but you seem to be arguing both sides of the reality here. At one point you argue that NK is crazy, and in the next point you argue that the leadership is not crazy. In another point you argue that something must be done "now, now, now", but then you argue that nothing can be done 'now'. Again, it's not personal. I'm just not able to follow you're argument. -

Thanks for the responses, folks. Keep them coming. U.S. school students are becoming some of the dumbest children in the civilized world, regardless of what the taxpayers are forced to spend. I just don't see how lowering the literacy standards for teachers could possibly be seen as a solution. -
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/03/17/teachers-unions-celebrate-removal-literacy-test/ The teachers' union in NYS has apparently decided that expanding diversity among it's members is more important than teaching the children to read and write? I know we have some teachers and spouses of teachers here on HNY. Can someone fill me in on the reasoning behind this? It sounds like that whole ebonics thing that happened a few years ago.

Elephant In The Room
philoshop replied to DirtTime's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I haven't closely studied the current situation, but I think Kim will back down from any possible confrontation with the U.S. He's a petulant child and mostly irrational in his thinking, but he knows that if he starts a shooting war the U.S. will side with whoever he's shooting at. Even China if it comes to that. He just needs to come to the realization that he's no longer dealing with Mr. Obama. President Trump is an entirely different animal who simply won't put up with Kim's nonsense. -
?? Where did the Snow / Weather thread go ??
philoshop replied to fasteddie's topic in General Chit Chat
Ended up with just shy of a foot here. I ran the tractor around yesterday so I could get out of the driveway. Temps were in the mid-fortys today and the snow is disappearing faster than HRC's political dreams. ;-] -
I'm half Italian and half Swedish. I like eating lasagna in the sauna. But if you choose to celebrate today, please be careful out there.
