Trump Gets My Respect
philoshop replied to Steve D's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I will only make one slight correction: He's the only one who fully understands the consequences. I'm certain that he worries about them, but when he knows in his heart that his actions are the right thing to do he's not afraid to act. JMHO -

It's interesting that the video is no longer available. I wonder who made that decision. -
Trump Gets My Respect
philoshop replied to Steve D's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
President Trump was reportedly asked by the family to basically stay away and to keep it a private ceremony. Trump asked the family if he would be welcomed to attend if he respected their wishes. Without any fanfare he went to the ceremony, and then met privately with the family to offer his condolences. There isn't a "politician" in this country who would have done that. -

I've been watching her for a while now. A very smart lady who really gets it. -
Liberty vs Tyranny
philoshop replied to Rattler's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
It's extremely unfortunate that people generally don't understand the Constitution. The U.S. Constitution does not grant people rights. Rather, it prevents the government from removing rights that were deemed "unalienable". IOW God-given. The Supreme Court has been used for several decades now to put in place and codify "rights" that are in no way 'unalienable'. The Left sees that power of judicial activism slipping away, hence the outrage over a SCOTUS nominee who understands the intent of the Constitution.- 1 reply

Firm up the date and location. I'll be the short, gimpy guy carrying a beer, and sleeping in my rusty old van.

Chuckie the Drama Queen
philoshop replied to Doc's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Schumer doesn't believe a word of what he's saying. He's living in a boat that's swamped and sinking, and he's going to keep poking holes in the hull hoping that the water will somehow flow out. This is what constitutes Leftist thinking. -
Chuckie the Drama Queen
philoshop replied to Doc's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
He's not only detached from reality, he thinks he can change reality with his words and tears. He's been in DC for far too long. -
You've actually answered your own question with your second post. President Trump is not playing by the rules the elites in either party, the elites in the media, or the elites on Wall Street and their lobbyists have laid out. Trump is not a 'normal' politician willing to follow the normal rules. This has them freaked out. To directly answer your question, this is not merely a party change. This is a complete disruption of 'business as usual' to the people who's entire existence depends on that 'business as usual'. There are trillions of dollars at stake for these people, and they're not going to give up easily.

My apologies if this has been posted before: I just came across this and hadn't seen it before. It's a great video, even though the politics are a little too self-evident. I left Buffalo in 2006 after spending twenty years there, and recognized many of the people interviewed or shown in 'clips', many of them musicians. I also had an architectural role in restoring many of the buildings featured. All in all it's a pretty cool video. Enjoy.

I believe you're right on that Rattler. What's really scary is that they think they still have power. They're delusional. -
Welcome aboard Nick, glad to have you here! Enjoy your travels through our pages.

Schumer is so full of crap that if you look closely you can see it coming out his ears. -
The upcoming SCOTUS nominations are considered by many to be the real pivot point in this election. It's about generations of Americans and their values being upheld. And the "ignorant and mindless clown supporters and deplorables" knew exactly what was at stake when they voted. I don't mean to get sappy about it, but I'm damned proud of the citizens who recognized this and voted accordingly.

What are the actual "costs of managing the land" that would become the responsibility of the individual States? What's the cost of vacant land when taxes are taken out of the equation? The individual State isn't typically going to tax itself for that land, although California might. They think on a whole different level. You're arguing that only the Federal Government is capable of keeping these lands exactly as you want them: free of Capitalists, and yet covered with roads so that you don't have to work too hard to hunt, and all paid for by the American taxpayer.

I'd be careful making that bet Uptown. We have a new president in charge who believes in law and order. I don't see the spoiled brat temper tantrum antics of these Leftist children being tolerated much longer.

new to site and recent landowner
philoshop replied to land 1's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Red oaks have pointy leaf lobes, and white oaks have rounded leaf lobes. I'm not a food plotter, so beyond that I won't try to give advice other than to be really careful hinge-cutting any tree much bigger than a large bush. Even a 4" or 5" tree can hurt you if you cut it wrong. Best of luck and stay safe. -
Depending on how much $ I have (low to high): Jim Beam, Crown Royal, Basil Hayden, Buffalo Trace... and on up... I got spoiled ten years ago when I spent a summer building a barn for a friend in Lexington, KY. We visited a lot of distilleries when we weren't working.

I was a high school senior with a four wheel drive Jeep pickup, chains on all four corners, in Newark, NY. I also had chains, cables, and shovels in the bed and spent several days pulling cars out of tough spots for people. I never charged anyone, but I made a couple thousand dollars in tips over the few days that I couldn't get to my trap line. The skiing at both Brantling and Bristol was exceptional that year, but I recall that the ice fishing sucked. Who wants to dig out a garage-sized pile of snow just to fish?

She was smart and funny, and she did a lot of really good philanthropic work. My best to her family.

Mostly it's about "the narrative" and "the optics". We're winning on both levels BTW. When confronted in person and you just want to smash someone's teeth in, it's more productive to be the 'reasonable' person in the conflict. It has nothing to do with being meek, and in the case of an actual threat of physical violence opening a can of whoop-ass is fully warranted. But these screaming lunatics want nothing more than to elicit a violent reaction and confrontation, and if you just don't give it to them they eventually walk away. The use of water hoses and rubber bullets does more to support their cause than ours, but it is wearing pretty thin.

You could try asking at a local Agway, Tractor Supply, or even calling the regional DEC or Ag extension office. I'm not in your area and can't give specific recommendations. Best of luck to you.
