I'm assuming there will be a thorough tick-check later. ;-] If memory serves, you and your dad closed on the property March 27th of last year. I remember because it's my birthday. Anyway, best of luck to you. And congratulations on having some place of your own to 'escape' to for a day or a weekend.

Top piece in the top photo is cherry (American). Bottom photo is black walnut. Both boards are through-and-through sliced for max yield rather than max quality, and appear to be air-dried rather than kiln-dried, which can cause problems later on. Put the boards in your basement with lots of airflow between them for a year or so, where they will become acclimated to their new home, and then build and enjoy. PM me if you want more details.

All the best to you in the coming year!

Make America great again
philoshop replied to Paula's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
It's not quite that simple NFA-ADK. The tweets from Trump allow him to keep the media, the Progressives, the GOP establishment, the whole Uniparty construct, and the rest of the Trump-haters chasing after things which are basically unimportant. In the meantime, he's getting stuff done that the people who elected him wanted him to do. He's a lot smarter than his detractors give him credit for, and I'm enjoying the ride. -

He's a political rookie, and it's showing. However, he's also a very smart guy who's catching on fast. Of the twenty+ presidential hopefuls we started with I firmly believe he was the best choice for the country. I mean, we could have ended up with Hillary Bush or Jeb Clinton. -
You could run an ad on Craigslist in the 'pets' section. I'm sure you'd get takers. The drawback is that you might end up dealing with some strange people. It can also be used as mulch for weed control or tilled into gardens, but it has to be mixed with a lot of high-nitrogen fertilizer for that.

NYS Senate Bills
philoshop replied to WingNut's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
A few counties in Oregon have proclaimed themselves 'sanctuary counties' with respect to anti-gun measures. Hey, it works for illegal aliens. Right? http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/02/14/oregon-counties-declare-sanctuary-status-gun-control/ This is entirely grassroots, folks. No legislator can make this happen. Make your voices heard. -

I'm angry as hell about internet posts, and I'll be back tomorrow with an internet post to tell you exactly why. -
Pretty cool piece of memorabilia/history.

Even In The Country, Laziness Makes Me Laugh
philoshop replied to DirtTime's topic in General Chit Chat
I'm not really lazy. I'm selectively ambitious. -
People in general are way too concerned about what other people are doing, and are way too concerned about what other people might think they are doing. Technology didn't start this, but it has certainly ramped it up. When you mind your own business today you're considered an out-of-touch troglodite or a flat-out luddite. I'm neither.

"Fast Food' is taking the .22 out the back door for a coupla' squirrels or a rabbit while the pan heats up. ;-] I might give the Arby's fish-things a try though based on your recommendation, because I'm just too lazy to fish.

lying libs strike again

Hillary Clinton is still not the president, and both Fidel Castro and Francesco Franco are still dead. A bit of levity for the panic-stricken. -
I'm not generally a big fan of Rich Lowry's opinions regarding President Trump, but in this case he's absolutely correct. This was not only a clear case of 'judicial activism', but it was also clear evidence that the activist judiciary in this country has the intent of undoing the US Constitution. This is not about a handful of people who were detained at airports, and it's not about the legality of President Trump's EO. It's now about the fundamental separation of powers.

It's all hindsight at this point, and what's done is done, obviously. Personally I would never have left the field that night once I started looking. Either you find the deer or you make the hard decision to quit. FWIW, blood is easier to spot at night with a lantern than it is during broad daylight.

lying libs strike again
philoshop replied to rachunter's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
If they were 'passed' it means they were not shut down by the court. If you change your question to "attempted by President Obama" there were dozens that were struck down, and therefore never passed. 'Recess' appointments, Obamacare manipulation, EPA overreach... Here's a quick top-ten list: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/428882/obama-violate-constitution-top-ten-2015 -

"The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws." Ayn Rand -
Best wishes to you! May you have many more birthday celebrations.

The ninth circuit court has demanded briefs from both parties in this matter; the Trump administration, and the Robart court. They're due by 6:00 PM EST today, and I'll bet the ninth circuit court, as heavily Liberal as they are, tosses this whole thing by 9:00 tonight. There is simply no standing and no jurisdiction on the part of Judge Robart. For that matter, there is no jurisdiction for the ninth to even hear or address the case at this point in time. The whole thing is an obstructionist sham. A shiny object for the Trump haters to rally around for a few days. FWIW Uptown, it doesn't matter whether the judge calls himself a Republican or a Democrat. He's an all-out Progressive Liberal and a huge supporter of Black Lives Matter, Planned Parenthood, CAIR, and other pro-immigration causes, and Bush 43 put lots of these judges on the bench. The MSM is feeding you a whole pile of BS and you're eating it up with both hands. Look into some facts once in a while, because reality can be very enlightening.
