  1. Just got the call, my brothers archery buck is done, as well as the last deer my father ever got to harvest back in December. An awesome day that was, and one of the last memories we had together.. Now, will set on the wall in my den.. Dads is the left one, brothers is the buck on right
  2. Soybeans in my opinion are the absolute best food plot to ever have. The only time i do not see deer in soybeans is when the leaves are yellow.. you'll see them in that field picking up dropped beans, long after they've been harvested too, as long as the field doesn't get disked in afterwards.... It does seem way late for soybeans, but it just must be a fast maturing group of soybean.. Maybe it was planted soybean for soil nutrients too? I expect an unbelievable bow season for you this fall lol.. depending on your neighbors and pressure lol
  3. WNY what date did you plant? Usually do mine, last week July, first of Aug.. rain depending Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  4. Waiting on my seed to arrive as well, cant wait to test these out.. 3 bags Double beam brassicas and a bag of select trophy clovers to over seed lightly as well.. Looking forward to it!
  5. Thats insane! looks like a huge snapper too! I watched a snapper take the last full grown goose in a single file line, underwater.. they were swimming across my pond.. The snapper, had the goose by the leg and would not let go.. I watched the other goose take turns trying to hit and thump on the snapper to try and save there friend for about 10 minutes.. he eventually did release and the goose' leg was beyond broken...
  6. Idk how much rain we got in Avoca, I was out of town all weekend.. Check my clover plot friday and its getting hammered but with no rain its not coming back to well.. hopefully we got some lots of clovers but they are only a few inches off the dirt.. come on rain! id like to mow it to clip the weeds back that are starting again..
  7. 3.5 + ...That is a lot of rack, for a July 3rd photoshoot!
  8. Ive got one as well this year, She seems healthy but super skinny, and hip bones show.. I know your close to my place, just not sure how close lol
  9. I see several deer harvests here soon.. lol "Murder Plot"
  10. A local feed and seed shop, or AG dealer should be able to test it. Or theres places to send it out to. Mix clovers in with your brassicas/turnips.. clover wont do too much this fall. But will be there 1st thing next April, lush green before anything else is. drawing a crowd lol
  11. Planting a tree in memory/honor os awesome, especially a good hearty hardwood tree. Awesome to hear this! That was my thinking also, them being a southern based company. It's only been a week and the oaks looks great still and the pears don't look any more stressed than when I took then out of their transport bags. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  12. PERIWINKLE GOT MY VOTE!
  13. I try to check fields occasionally, but i mainly rely on cameras and my knowledge of the land and what it has to offer. I know where all the good trails and the food sources are on my land.. I try not to go into the woods too much or venture off the main path for the reason of just keeping pressure off of any deer for that matter. I do run cameras, but they tend to stay on the "edges" or easier to access spots, or on a route to and from a stand when fall closes in... very rarely will i put a cam near a bedding area or deep into the timber.. unless i do not plan on checking it for a long time. The neighbors around me tend to be in the woods way too much, so i try to leave my property calm as can be.. I have a 6.5 and a 7.5yr old buck that do not seem to like cameras much at all.. they both are always very cautious when in front of them (which is not very often) and never stick around for long. i know they are there bc you can catch them out in front of the cam a bit when a different deer triggers it. They know its there... but every deer acts differently. I had a big pretty 10 pt from 2011 and 2012 that loved getting his picture taken, ive got hundreds and hundreds of him. He was more pattern able than any deer I have seen in my life.. to my misfortune i missed and only scuffed belly hair and the neighbor wounded and lost him the following fall..
  14. Thank you, so far they seem to be doing well.Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  15. The other clover staging plot.. goes another 40 yards down, a curving logging rd Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  16. I know its not the best time of year to be planting trees.. but I planted 2 white oak trees this pass Sunday in memory of my father and his best friend who were killed in a car accident back in March. When i bought these from Nativ Nurseries, I figured why not buy a few more and plant them around the property, for the price its not a big hit if failed. ill keep them watered and fertilized as best possible. and if they take awesome, if not i will plant them come fall, or early spring. I planted with the plan of watering them every couple of days.. i bought 10 White oak, and 10 Deer pear trees. Planted half of each of them at the bottom of a food plot, which normally stays moist all year even in a drought and the other half on the west side of a new small staging area food plot i started the week before his accident.. Worse case ill plant when the timing is right.. not a big deal.. thought it would be worth a shot, and an accomplishment if they all take off and thrive.. the one pic is a second staging plot between bed and food.. freshly planted in clover(june 5th)
  17. That was one thing i wanted to try to do this summer was make one or 2 small hand made watering holes, or tanks. There isn't too much water around my place, but where there is, it is all spring fed ponds, underground springs and run offs.. like to rent a dozer sometime next summer..
  18. Field staff is more of an advertisement and a small opportunity to use some new small minor products. It's quite simple to join. Look it up for yourself Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  19. Field staff, not pro staff. There's a difference. Anyone can join. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  20. Join his field staff. You get special offers and such. also can visit his field days at the proving grounds. He is quite educational thats for sure... only wish i had several hundreds of acres to manage lol
  21. I'd like the photo, but i really don't like it. I have similar photos from the end of may, of 3 coyotes running a couple of doe hard, my guess was they were chasing a fawn near by. And the doe's were trying to stand there ground. Their tongues were hanging right out of their mouths..
  22. Thanks, and yes Cliff at Whitetail Creations.
  23. Lol, Shortly after i popped the question, she suggested I sell my truck, the boat and or the tractor.. LOL!! i looked at her and asked her politely to re think that idea haha. and so far i still own everything I had all along. Haha, ill work my butt off to pay for something rather than sell anything.. if possible anyways. Sorry TC, nothings for sale. If there ever comes a divorce ill keep you in mind! lol
  24. 25-06 is what i will be purchasing soon for a deer gun. Its an awesome caliber. the velocity and energies with 120gr are near the same as the 90gr.. ive seen many of deer dropped in their tracks with this caliber..
