Wader Recommendations

What ever you get, get them through LL Bean. Will be more expensive at first but with a lifetime guarantee they'll pay for themselves in time. I had a very expensive $300+ pair of Lacrosse's spring a major leak. Took them back to LL Bean and they replaced them no questions asked. -
I am planning on putting one of these together. Is there anything you would have changed now, after a few uses?

Nothing so far, sitting near acorns. Squirrels are definately taking advantage of them. Wind has died down somewhat. Power hour is almost here, we'll see.

Been in stand for around 40 minutes. Very noisy walked up on around 30 turkeys coming in. Nothing yet. Had a small 6 yesterday at 15 yards and a doe and fawn at 11. Gonna have to be a decent one in this heat to squeeze the release. Wind keeps changing direction, first perfect then awful. Time shall tell

Should I hunt the same stand tomorrow afternoon?
jr.deerslayer replied to regulat0r's topic in Bow Hunting
Personally, if they didn't know you were there Id hit it again. Might as well try to kill one before they switch up the summer patterns. There liable to do the exact same thing tomorrow. -

I've used JB water weld Putty to fix my grandfathers leaking hot water tank. Surface preparation is definitely more important than anything. I used a wire brush and emery cloth to clean up the surface then saturated it with rubbing alcohol to clean it the best i could. He had tried it without cleaning it good and it didn't hold. My job has held up for 6 months after I spent half an hour prepping the surface before applying putty.

Don't shoot them in the guts....

Look closely behind the buck and there's another.

Still nothing in the mail for me yet.

I'm looking to purchase a new semi automatic shotgun for waterfowl hunting. I've been looking around and have my sights on a Franchi Intensity with a 3.5 inch chamber. I'd really like to own something super reliable like a Benelli but they're nearly twice the price. Does anyone own one or have shot one? I've never shot a Franchi and don't know what to expect.

2 elevated tower stands. Five 2 man ladder stands, Three single ladder stands and my climber. So 10 or 11 in total on 200 private acres.

I've only seen acorns on two trees this year, most of the trees are bare although I haven't ventured to the back of our property line yet.

Just purchased a new Leupold rangefinder, planning to give my old Bushnell to my father. Also picked up a new release and some trail cams about a month ago. 2 new ladder stands and a blind around that same time, couldn't resist the sale prices.

I pin Montana Black Gold Ascent. Zeroed from 10 to 80 yards can't beat them. Much less confusing then multi pins for me. I find it much easier to focus on one pin and I have a much better unobstructed view of the target. I normally leave it set for 25 while hunting and won't touch the dial unless the deer is at 40 yards or better just shoot a couple inches high at 30.

Recently got my pistol permit
jr.deerslayer replied to PSEcopenhagenHUNTER's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I'm currently carrying a Smith and Wesson Shield in 40 cal with a Foxx IWB holster. Not one hiccup in over 600 rounds, I'm a fan. I get my ammo from Walmart for around 15 bucks a 100. Although its just junk the pistol handles in beautifully. I was torn between the shield and the XDS but I figured I would save my money to purchase a pistol that was fun to shoot and one I could potentially hunt with, with the money I saved. -
What would you spend?
jr.deerslayer replied to jr.deerslayer's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Thanks guys I appreciate the comments. Basically with this deal I make the rules, Ill get my lawyer to make the ROW completely legal. the landowner wants to keep his house and 2 fields and me to figure out the rest. When I say "family land" its my parents land and I've lived here all my life and in time it will be mine anyways. Sorry for not being clear. I believe in my county you need a minimum amount of road frontage to build on even though I will never plan on doing that. In reality I'm being totally selfish and want to stop anyone who may buy the whole deal, house and all, from my neighbors and turn it into something I don't want. -
We use a product called Mad Dog basically a generic glyphosate at 41%. We payed around 15.75 a gallon this year but we purchase by the 30 gallon drum.

jr.deerslayer replied to jr.deerslayer's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
The absence of road frontage is my main concern. Luckily my family's land runs the entire length of one side of the parcel so access is not a big deal. I have spoke to a Realtor and she believed the ag land should fetch around $1400 an acre, with the swamp land around 650$ and acre. The woodland somewhere in the middle.I thought these figures seemed high but what would I know. Its only worth what someone else will pay. The problem is with no road frontage what someone else will pay just strictly for hunting or another recreation activity seems low. If I purchased I believe I would hold onto it indefinitely although its always nice to have a quick "out" for an unforeseen circumstance. I could buy it today for 50K. Thanks for the replies. -
I have the option to purchase right under 90 acres in Rennselaer County. The property does not have any road frontage but a right of way would be included in the contract. Around 25 acres would be considered good tillable land. Another 10 or 15 is swamps and the rest is woods. The area was logged around 8 years ago. The land would never be able to get developed as you need road frontage to build. I certainly don't need the land as my family owns 200 acres that I will always hunt but its something I am considering still. I am young in my 20's and in time the area will be fit to be logged again. I know its nearly impossible to guess without specifics, but ballpark what would you consider to be a fair price.

Best Hunting Boots
jr.deerslayer replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
My dad has a pair of Alpha Burly's first goose hunt and second time wearing them I put a corn stalk through the upper part of the boot. I tried Rocky rubber boots and they were literally the worse I've ever owned and lasted around a month. Have Muck Wetlands now we'll see how they fare. -
Phade just looked and it seems they are out of stock. I can't find them on the sight.
-
OK thanks, I actually got them from Dicks online for there "tent sale" also picked up a Tru Ball Fang Release normally 119$ for 59$ pretty good deals to be had.

I just picked up 3 Covert MP E5 at a price I could'nt resist. Has any one owned one? Did you like it? Im sick of trail cams in general and have a box full of stealth and WGI that have broke. Most lasted under 2 years. Id like to venture into the more expensive cams but Ive never had a manufacture perform consistently to sink more than 150$ in. I got these for 56$ a piece so Im not really worried but it would be nice to find a cam you can trust.
