First time out this season. Just me and my 2 dozen decoys. 12 dive bomb socks, 12 old outlaw silos I got at a garage sale and my old rattle-can camo mossy 500. Don't know if I'll do much, but I'm out, and sometimes that's enough!

I've shot two bucks with a .450 Marlin. Both kept walking and never reacted like they'd been hit at all. I kept shooting until they dropped. Hit them 3 times each. Heart, lungs and neck on the first with 350gr FP, lungs twice and shoulder on the second with 325gr nerf bullets. Nice clean .45 holes straight through. Now I have it loaded with 250 gr Barnes TSX hollow points. We'll see how they work, eventually.

Anyone get another envelope later with more license pieces? My license and tags came a couple weeks ago and then yesterday I got another envelope with the reporting panels and label panels that I already had, no tags, and the dates are changed from 9/1/20 - 8/31/21 to 8/10/20 - 8/01/21? It does have one more panel showing I registered for HIP though.

During Southern zone gun season. Northern zone I either do or don't, I don't put much thought into it because we see so few people. Bow season I don't. I only hunt my place and the home farm.

I've never seen a headstone that said "I wish I'd spent less time hunting and more time mowing the lawn."

Anyone use the jet sled?

I'm at work, anxiously awaiting pitchurs!

At least you didn't get busted up. I never wore a harness until one day sitting in the stand and I realized I had a wife and two little boys living in a single-income household. A guy I work with just came back to work after a year out of work and three surgeries to rebuild his ankle after he fell taking down a ladder stick.

Yes. They made into a stupid mall later. Since everyone on the news is talking about "Charlestown Mall" burning I thought it would be nice if someone pointed out that it existed as something interesting before it became another abandoned mall.

My original "Made In USA" Lacrosse Burlys lasted almost 15 years. I'm lucky if I can get the new ones made with the cheap Chicom rubber to make it 2. I can't wear Muck boots, they don't fit my feet right so I find them uncomfortable. I did have a pair of Northerners I liked but they were not very tall.

You might want to get that checked out. I think it's a symptom of the Chinaids.

Sometimes the best trips are the ones where stuff goes wrong!

Did you ever notice that even though there is no rust on any of the vehicles, every windshield in the state of Alaska is cracked?

NICE! My brother lives in Fairbanks and he just spent a week on a sheep hunt around Glacier Mountain. Looks like you had better weather; they got rained on most of the week.

What I hate is when I pay extra for Fedex or UPS delivery and they take it to the frickin' Post Office. If I paid extra for UPS it's because I need it ASAP. I've watched the UPS truck drive by the house on Saturday morning to go drop my package at the Post Office and then not get it until Monday because the mail truck was already out on the route.

Hopefully every Town is not a screwy as ours. I was told if we split a building lot smaller than 10 acres we had to go through the whole subdivision process just like we were building a housing development. DEC Environmental Impact study, storm water study, etc. and of course we'd have to pay for all of that BS. After we were in I was going to split it and when I talked to the ASSessor she said our taxes would go up because they would re-assess the vacant land and the land didn't add appreciably to the value of the house, so the house taxes would stay the same. We're in an Ag district so I ended up finding a crop guy to rent it and then we were able to file for the Ag value assessment which got us down to around $8k.
-
Do what I wish I had done and take your plans and try to get an idea how much your taxes will be. When we built our property taxes went from $1,500/year on 48 acres "Vacant Farmland" to $12,000/yr "Rural Residential". Cost us $225,000 to build and they immediately assessed it at$350,000 before we even moved in. I almost puked. Had I known that was going to happen I never would've done it.

First time I went, those things looked like B-52s coming straight in at my layout blind. I still can't figure out how I could've possibly missed...
-
Just because I can't seem to help myself, did any of the posts specify they were in NY State? It is possible that someone who lives in NY can own property elsewhere.

Working from home , just in a better state

I have friends in Henry County that I've visited a few times. The area seemed nice but it was hotter than two mice screwing in a wool sock. -
Now. What we need to figure out is what are the best broadheads to draw the deer in...
-
I've had the same thing happen. Hit him at a steepish angle high with a low draw weight recurve and the arrow stuck in the off side shoulder. Blood stayed inside and if he hadn't only gone about 30 yds and tipped over he would've made it into the swamp. I don't think that was with a Montec though.
-
See! There you go. The Montecs are so good they scared that buck to death!
-
I've been shooting 125gr G5 Montecs for years now. Every time I try something else I end up back on them. The only thing I dislike is I have a devil of a time getting them sharp. They say the CS version sharpens easier but it only comes in 100gr.
