That's the same sight on my .450 Marlin and for the size of the aperture it is surprisingly easy to make repeated offhand hits on a soccer ball size target out to 200+ yds.

28 years of marriage, I guess I can miss some bow hunting
covert replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
I can't believe I'm not the only one silly enough to get married in October! Congratulations. -
I've shot woodchucks with my '06, so if you scale a woodchuck down a .308 seems appropriate.
-
I jerk mine as well. The dog isn't really necessary for field hunting, but it's a heck of a lot of fun to watch it work.
-
Getting it loaded isn't too bad but I have a heluva time getting the trunk lid closed on my Prizm.
-
Boy, ain't that purdy!

What burns me is the protection racket the State of NY runs. They have a law that requires I have car insurance, and then they charge me a fee for having car insurance. I'm going to kick over your hot dog cart, unless you pay me not to kick over your hot dog cart.

Here I am looking for advice on how to kill more deer and I find conversations about dicks, and bags with massive racks. Buzzkill.
-
I don't think that's a bear. I've never seen one push a shopping cart.

Has his gloves on the wrong hands. Or his hands on the wrong arms.

I mostly have peep sights on my rifles but I do have a couple scopes. I prefer the peep sight if the shots will be fast and tight and when the weather is rainy or snowy.
-
Hope you guys are happy killing them while I'm stuck at work. Can't call in without losing the holiday pay. Leave a few out there for us! Good luck!

Another NEF Huntsman here.

I actually was having a lot of trouble with them tearing up my trees before I started doing that and they have left them alone since. It certainly isn't because I've killed very many.
-
I've been hanging chunks of Irish Spring soap on mine the last few years and it seems to keep the deer away from them.
-
I have a can of Sawyers and the label says it's good for 6 weeks. I've been going to spray my layout blinds just for the halibut.

the self checkout at walmart isnt that bad.....
covert replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in General Chit Chat
Tops are. I was always against the stupid self-checkouts and normally don't use them but sometimes... "All I have is this one frickin' _ _ _ _ and I don't feel like talking to anyone or waiting in line behind this dirty (whatever) that stinks like dope while they buy cigarettes with cash and their groceries with EBT while surfing on their smartphone." On those days I love the self-checkout. -
Another vote for this stuff. I've had great luck with it. Something else that used to help me was going swimming right after my grandparents shocked the pool. When the chlorine smell was so strong it was awful; seemed to dry it right out.

Nope. Been covert from day 1. I can barely keep track of one personality!

I thought I was still me, but now I'm not sure; I could've really been someone else all along.

Mine usually comes first week in August.

If you can handle the negatives, mentally, then the positives sound great. A guy where I work quit in his early 50's to do it. I don't think NYS has enough money to ever get me to do it. About 15 years ago I actually turned down an opportunity to go be a NYS Trooper because I decided it was not for me. Guys I work with still break my chops about that because I'd be able to retire before much longer and be making more money, but it was the right decision for me.

Stuck a bird barrel on the old Mossberg 500 I used to hunt deer with before we could use rifles, threw on an aftermarket camo synthetic stock I got from Midway USA and gave it a custom rattle-can marsh grass camo job.

ever wonder why there no mosquitoes at Disney World
covert replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
I just figured they couldn't afford to get in.
