  1. I'll see you all, this coming fall, in the Big Rock Candy Mountains.

  2. For the few days we had any snow I got my '73 Elan SS out and pulled the boys around on the sled. Been working on clearing some land. I have part of an old pasture that's growing up. Clearing the honeysuckle and buckthorn. Has some nice black cherry on it though that are getting up aroung 8-10".
  3. Not to be a Debbie Downer here, but who gets the $11 million when the wall doesn't get built?
  4. Not always. I had a '97 Ram 1500 that had a bad front wheel bearing and the first indication I had was when the brake pads FELL OFF going down the road at 60 MPH!
  5. Experiences definitely. I don't have very many inches.
  6. Could just put last year's on the pack. Same number now. I hunt Northern zone so much I always forget it when I go out down home. Ends up riding in my wallet most of the time.
  7. Grunted nice 6 in from 250yds to ground blind where I was sitting with my boy. Shot under buck with stupid crossbow. Grunted him back, shot over buck with stupid crossbow. Sold stupid crossbow, bought rangefinder.
  8. Oh I don't know, seems a bit small to me. I use a .450 Marlin.
  9. Ahhhhhh. Thanks, sitting here in the office I needed that!
  10. Send it here. There's a guy at work who's constantly sucking on one of those electronic puffers and I've been dying to fill it with buck lure!
  11. Yup. Look at the election map. Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and NY City blue, everything else red.
  12. Yep. T422D. Wasn't ignoring you, just don't get on much.
  13. You'll want to get that velvetleaf in the middle pic out of there though. Rotten sh-tuff. Will overrun you and the seeds will stay viable for something like 40-50 years. I spent a weekend hand-pulling about 5 acres by hand last year. Smelled cat-piss for a week...
  14. Sleeps behind your shrubs and that's the dripline from the eaves!
  15. "We" was in reference to our camp. Sometimes there's one, mostly two, but not always hunting together. We only have 5 guys and rarely are they all in at once. It sure is nice when there is at least one extra set of hands to muckle on with you though. Fun? No. But also not impossible.
  16. I have to respectfully disagree. Our tent is 7 miles in and we will sometimes drag 2-3 miles just to get to the tent. The one last year was 3+ hours, a couple years before almost 5 hours. Hence the "until your balls fall off". It isn't easy, but if it was, everyone would do it.
  17. Drag. We've found with bigger bucks (175+ dressed) the best way to do it is drag until your balls fall off, and then it gets easier because you're carrying less weight.
  18. Green Johnson Woolen Mills shirt-jac and pants, olive Stormy Kromer and Danner boots.
  19. Has to be. There weren't internal combustion engines back then.
  20. I find balloons every year. I think the Adirondacks are where old balloons go to die. One year it was about 8 in a bunch, all bright colors, each at least 24" across.
  21. If mostly for a plinker and some small game hunting I'd go with the Henry just because of the ammo cost. I like the .22 Mag and use one for woodchucks but shells are more expensive.
  22. I didn't even know Dick's sold any guns or hunting equipment anymore. Last time I was in one they didn't have enough to even look at.

    Misfires

In my Traditions inline I had some trouble with #11 caps so I got a bigger nipple to use musket caps. That made a big difference. With my NEF and the 209 primers I've never had any trouble. I used to use Pyrodex pellets but have been using IMR White Hots.
  24. Wool sock. Only natural organic fibers.
  25. That's why I hunt naked, with a spear. And one sock; for the thorns.
