  1. The point probably is, instead of posting what you find on the web, why not post your own personal experience in game populations in your area. Seeing you live in the woods and are in them every day. We all know you have 500# does where you live, or at least that was your story.
  2. This just an opinion, but I think it's building and cost-effective. It's a little easier to mass produce a bolt gun than any other. A solid piece of wood (or synthetic), a barrel, a trigger, and the bolt. Other actions are two pieces of wood, the actual metal chamber/receiver, and the other mechanics of the action, in this case the mechanics to turn the gas or recoil into energy to cycle the rifle. Sort of like many semi shotguns don't like to cycle low brass because the charge isn't always enough to cause the reaction to eject the spent shell and load the new round in.
  3. Oh, I agree with you 100%. I was making a comment that there's not much difference in a semi or other actions, especially with today's technology. But, that information is mainly gathered from reading because I haven't shot every gun out there or every ammo available. Offhand, I'm happy with a half dollar from my deer rifles. 4-6" is OK by me with the ML and shotguns using slugs.

That's what I was referring to, I forgot to add that. I'll still get a mess sometimes, but not even 1/100 of when I started using them.
  5. Maybe a bumper sticker that says "I'm Anti-Bumper Sticker" is in order?
  6. Does he shout, "I AM BEOWOLF!" after each shot? Sorry, movie reference, I had too.

I like my bait casters for top water and cranking. Finesse, I like my spinners. I will admit to using bait casters with a worm and bobber from time to time. There used to be a general rule of thumb to avoid a rats nest: Set the brake so when you give the rod a slight twitch the lure will only drop about 18-24", while standing not after casting. I've used that rule for a long time, and it works pretty well. It's not foolproof by any means, though. If you want to have some steam come outta the ears, let someone who's never used a bait caster borrow one.

  9. How big are you looking for? Many companies offer semi auto's in 300Mag, .375, and other larger chamberings. There isn't anything a 300 Winchester Mag don't drop. Unless you think dinosaurs might return.
  10. I didn't know the owner of Take It To The Bank had passed. That's a shame, I never met him, but he was always friendly and extremely helpful when I called, and would even recommend another shop if he didn't have what I was looking for, which is rare. I'm being a bit picky on my selection, I could have picked up a used AR with a desert tan stock, but I don't live in the desert, and I really don't want an olive drab stock- nothing wrong with the multicolor, just not my preference. I'm looking for all scary black and preferably the old style fore-end stock without the rails, which oddly enough cost more. I remember a couple of years ago the S&W M&P 15 in .223 ran about $600, now they are in the $800 price range.
  11. Looks like a nice morning out there. I'm currently looking for bumper stickers for my SUV.
  12. I'm weighing options at this point. The last I knew, PSA won't ship most of their lowers to NYS.
  13. I was the biggest one challenging all those keyboard commandos. Day of truth 10 people showed up to that rally (if I remember right), and not a single one of the chest beaters on here who were standing on the soap box were among them. If the event comes that there's an invasion, I'll be doing what I need to do, not hiding in a bathtub with my cell phone or Kindle. The odds of an actual invasion seem slim because the USA is known to be that gun crazy country. I'd be far more concerned about nuclear threats, even though I feel not many would push the buttons. Putin has invaded Ukraine a few times in the recent past. The rest of the world did pretty much what's being done now.
  14. Nothing at three places hit that "Yes!" aver all, and those that did didn't agree with the wallet.
  15. Building used to be. Three years ago. A decent completely stripped lower is about $150 and the upper kit is about $500. There's a few places that have the rifles for around $500-$700, so building isn't as reasonable as it used to be. Add in shipping and it's a little more. We'll see how this plays out. I'm taking a ride tomorrow to look at a couple.
  16. I made a bunch of calls today, found a few places of interest. Right now, we're running things through the thought process and crunching numbers.
  17. There are adults in those rooms, but, they are testing the product to make sure it's safe. So you get craplike this because they bail on reasonable solutions to make a munchie run.
  18. My wife and I are looking at maybe picking up a couple of AR15's. But, neither of us have a ton of money to doll out the prices some shops are asking. Neither of us can drop $1000 on a rifle right now. I remembered when I bought my M&P 15 22 I had stopped in there and the prices were reasonable on AR's. They were out of stock on my M&P, so I ended up going elsewhere and spending $100 more for that.
  19. Yeah, it's called a saddle. I realize most here only know of a saddle to hang from a tree like a monkey, but there are other types of saddles.
  20. NO! NOPE! NODDA! NO WAY! AIN'T HAPPENIN! WON'T DO THAT! NOT GOING THERE! I'LL BUY A HORSE FIRST! That any better?
  21. That was over a year ago. Are they in or are they still in the process? Like grampy said, the old shop is now a booze store I'm pretty sure.
